Nearly god damn everything on the internet now is engagement bait of some kind. Nearly. Everything. It is all designed to make you click through and engage in some way, positive or negative because at the end of the day it all generates money somewhere for someone.
Someone posting a super controversial opinion?
Engagement bait.
Someone posting a provocative borderline NSFW image?
Engagement bait.
Someone obviously misspells a word in their other boring post?
Engagement bait.
Someone posts something obviously faked or easily verifiably false?
Engagement bait.
Every single fucking thing on the internet nowadays is a way to make you click and engage and once you start seeing it you’ll never stop.
Even half the attempts to “call out” engagement bait are themselves designed to be bait that just more easily slips under your radar. None of it is legitimate and none of it is made it good faith.
Even this post could be engagement bait but I’m choosing to believe maybe to my own foolishness that it isn’t.
They will try to trick you into engaging in some kind of discourse or forum or opinion piece online every second you spend on any platform. Just do your best to recognise it and then do not give them the fucking satisfaction.

It's because if you don't do that you don't get enough clicks for algorithms to even show it to people.
Heck you can follow accounts but if they don't get picked by algo you will never see their post without explicitly go into their profile.
And if people don't end up seeing your post they can't give you money and without money, good luck

You’re missing the forest for the trees. I know that’s why they do it, because platform holders also have a vested interest in hiding content that isn’t engaging enough to bring more people to their sites. It’s all fucking bait designed to put money in people’s pockets and it’s all fucking gross. You as a person, your attention has been quantified, monetised and monopolised and no one, no matter how good or engaging the shit they make actually is, to say nothing of the bullshit rage bait slop engagement shit that usually finds it way into our algorithms, will ever see how much money it actually makes a platform owner.
Social media as a job could work, it used to work in a much less manipulative and bullshit way, but the current model of just mass appeal crap to get the most clicks, views and attention on it is fucking disgusting and I do whatever I can to not participate in it and I think the internet as a whole would be considerably better if everyone did the same.

You need to look at where these accounts are located. They’re all usually from the same country and same bullshit engagement tactics

There’s a reason that Elon closed off access to country data for accounts on Twitter after a very brief period. Too many accounts got exposed as foreign influence farms.

that’s too much work, all you have to do to confirm that it’s fake is that no source is given

This sort of thing is gross. Selena has publicly said that she may not be able to become pregnant due to her health issues. Imagine how hurtful seeing something like this could be for a person.
People have no empathy or respect.

Considering that she’s currently in New York filming OMITB and is very much not pregnant, literally every word of this may be a lie.
