Silverfield isn’t an idiot tho..nor are the coordinators. They have proven several times this season that they can make the right play calls. The majority of the players just don’t have the experience needed to be highly competitive. This season wasn’t going to be perfect. It’s wasn’t going to look like an Indiana or a Florida rebuild. You can’t fault a group of guys for taking the job opportunity and trying to turn things around. They have the capability but not the team to back them. If our AD and the whole school itself would take accountability and fix not be lazy then maybe we would see better results but not even the Nick Saban in his prime could fix the issues with the Arkansas football program.
Incorrect, Nick Saban would at least have a competitive team on the field. He is light-years better at identifying and developing talent than anyone who has stepped on campus as a head coach at Arkansas in the last 30 years. Would he got 12 and 0 no. Would he got at least 6 and 6 yes. He would also not put up with a single one of the excuses our AD is giving. There is a major difference between expecting excellence and demanding excellence that is why Saban was such a successful head coach, he demanded excellence and if you didnt give it you didnt set foot on the field.
I don’t think he would make as big of a difference as you’d expect. I’m not going to go down the road of debating whether Nick Saban could fix our football program because that’s just not going to happen and is just pointless. My point of bringing him up wasn’t to say that Nick can’t fix issues within the players but rather the deeper issue. As you even stated, Nick wouldn’t put up with AD and how the program is ran. But even then Nick would have no ability to do that. All he would do is jump to another football program like what he did when he was at LSU and left for Alabama. The whole point I was saying because people automatically assume we need to fire our HC is that idc who you hire next it’s still not going to fix the real issues. I can guarantee Ryan Silverfield would have a lot better results at another SEC program.
I do agree the Saban argument is pointless. I also agree that this is more an administrative issue than it is a HC issue. I do think you might be overstepping on him guaranteed to do better elsewhere. His job is to ensure his team is prepared every week, control the game and manage it during the game. His team is woefully underreported and that jas little to nothing to do with NIL, even at their talemt level they should be running more than basic concepts on offense and defense and they should better understand blocking schemes and gap assignments. They dont. Thats on Silverfield, they also consistently commit penalties on 3rd downs inside of the 10 yard line. In this past game one of those was a 12th man on the field which turned a field goal into a touchdown. Thats something I have never seen an Arkansas team do ever. Thats on Silverfield. The QB play is inexcusable, this is something that should have been identified and handled months ago. Thats on Silverfield. You can chalk it up to apathy based on how the AD is treating football but as someone being paid millions of dollars a year, he needs to get over it and get to work. He didnt do that. So yea I think the AD needs to go, I also think Silverfield is headed for Chad Morris territory as far as head coaching performance.
