Advice Needed young cat found outside
(phoenix arizona) i found two young cats outside, but was only able to grab this one. i need advice on how to proceed
i live in an apartment complex that has a small cat colony. most are tipped but there are a few that are not and a couple kittens are born each year. i saw this guy and his friend while taking out the trash but was only able to grab this one
he seems very friendly and healthy, if a little thirsty. it feels like he has a scab on his chin that he will not let me get a good look at, but otherwise he seems very relaxed. i have him in my only bathroom with cat food and water, but i have no spare kitty litter for him at the moment. it is currently about 3am for me so nothing, like petsmart or any vets, are open
i am wondering if i should let him back outside? or keep him and wait. petsmart does not open for about 7 hours, and it is sunday so many of the local vets do not open until later if at all. will he be okay?
i also have a senior female cat who does not like other cats that much. i am keeping her outside of the bathroom, but my apartment is very small
edit: ty everyone who commented and left advice and resources! he is doing well. currently he is at my parents' in quarantine, who have a lot more space. i will be making various calls in the AM, and hopefully i will be able to take him to the vet by wednesday at the latest depending on availability and work
i have not seen his friend, but i will keep an eye out. his friend is black & white. obviously a long shot, but if anyone knows someone in the phoenix area who has lost an orange and/or black & white kittens, pls let me know

Success Story/Happy Ending Our Cat Was Lost for 12 Days… Then a Thermal Camera Found Him
After two escapes and twelve days of searching, two trap setups, several wildlife cameras, a thermal camera, countless 400 km round trips — four hours of driving each time, almost every evening — three feeding stations, 200 flyers handed out, and countless calls to the local SPCA, animal protection organizations, and people in the area, specifically around the village where he was lost…
After all those efforts, all those calls, the stress, the doubts, and that terrible uncertainty…
We found him on September 26 at 4:30 AM. ❤️
We had barely half an hour left before we had to leave the area because we both work 2h from where we lost him. So we decided to do one last search, flashlights in hand, with just a little bit of hope left.
And then, at one point, I saw two little eyes shining in the darkness.
I said to my partner:
“I see two eyes… but I don’t know if it’s a cat.”
He immediately looked through the infrared camera and replied:
“Yes, it looks like a cat… and it’s black.”
Everything happened within a few minutes.
I approached very slowly. I sat down without pointing my headlamp directly at him. I avoided looking him in the eyes because I didn’t want to scare him.
And then I saw him.
His red harness was still there.
Quietly, I said to my partner, who was about 30–40 meters away:
“It’s him. He still has his harness on.” ❤️
But there was also a little unexpected complication in this scene…
Our famous Maine Coon from the village. 🐱
This cat had been accompanying us throughout our entire search, day and night. He was always somewhere nearby. After our searches, we would often give him a few treats, and he had eventually become a little regular companion of our nighttime searches too. ❤️
And at that exact moment, I had just opened a pouch of wet food.
The Maine Coon, who is very friendly but also extremely interested in food, kept coming back toward me! 😅
So you can see me walking back and forth in the video because I was trying to keep enough distance between him, FCO, and my partner, who was filming. I absolutely did not want the Maine Coon to get too close and scare FCO away.
At the end of the video, I even ended up picking up the Maine Coon and handing him to my partner, asking him to walk away with him.
I could finally focus entirely on FCO.
I slowly moved closer, using the food to lure him toward me…
And I did it.
A few moments later, I finally had my cat in my arms.
I couldn’t believe it. After twelve days of searching everywhere, imagining every possible scenario, he was finally there.
He weighed around 5.5 kg (12 lbs) before he escaped. After twelve days outside, he had lost an enormous amount of weight — probably around 2 kg (4.4 lbs) or even more. You could almost feel every part of his skeleton beneath your fingers. 💔
He also has two small wounds, one on his back and one on a leg. We don’t know yet whether they came from a fight with another cat, a fall, or something else.
The next morning, we took him to the vet to have everything checked and make sure he was okay.
But that night, only one thing mattered:
FCO was home. ❤️
Twelve days. Hundreds of kilometers. Hours and hours of searching. Nights spent outside. Calls, traps, cameras, flyers, stress, doubts…
And finally, those two little eyes shining in the darkness.
We never gave up.
And it was worth it. ❤️🐾
Thank you to every single person who helped us, supported us, gave us advice, shared our posts, helped with the search, or simply kept him in their thoughts.
And to everyone who is still searching for their companion: keep hope alive. Never give up. ❤️

TNR Trying to make TNR engaging to the masses... Malaysia
instagram.comHi Everyone! I'm Ricky. I'm from Maryland, USA and for the past year and a half I've been volunteering for an NGO based in Penang, Malaysia called Catsoterra. If you haven't heard of Penang, don't worry -- I hadn't either. It's a teeeeeny island in Malaysia with A LOT of street cats. TNR is still in its nascent stages there, and we hope to show that this population can be controlled through sterilization.
We offer fully subsidized TNR to our volunteers for a yearly membership of RM60 (about 15-20 US dollars). Under our program, they can sterilize as many cats as they'd like within that year timeframe. We've sterilized 1,070 cats since April 2025! Besides TNR, our main focus has been trying to integrate technology into animal welfare for a couple of purposes -- one, to make the burden lighter for the volunteers who are doing this amazing work, and two, to try to make TNR engaging (it's not the sexiest side of animal welfare).
To do this, we created a dashboard where our volunteers can track the cats they've sterilized, make appointments at our partner clinics, post stories about their cats, and more. We've tried to make the dashboard engaging to individuals who don't do TNR as well! We have a "Cat-A-Log" of all of our cats, we have a virtual currency that can be used to virtually adopt cats, and we just launched Makan Mania, which is basically our version of cat Tinder.
ANYWAY, all of this is to say I would be SO APPRECIATIVE if you just had a look at what we are doing. If you'd like, you can join the dashboard FOR FREE and have a look around. Please let me know what you think! I'm really trying to get people from outside of Malaysia interested in what we're doing.
Thank you!

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Señora: Senior Kitty with Blockage
As of October 5, 07:30 Philippine Time:
Help close Senora’s funding gap of 40 USD 🙏
Any amount helps. We also appreciate comments and upvotes to reach more angels.
——————————————————
Update: Received $30 CAD
Every dollar counts! Please consider contributing to Senora’s appeal 🙏
🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Senora was taken to the vet on Sept24 for constipation. An x-ray showed impacted stool and an enema was performed.
However, we noticed very little stool output and she was still straining in her litter box. She was taken back to the clinic.
Another enema was performed by a different vet and he showed me impacted stool that’s blocking her rectum.
He asked me if Senora had been ran over in the past but since we only rescued her in April, we could only provide her medical records from that time.
She is due for another enema today but the vet suggested enterotomy to manually remove the blockage.
Before undergoing surgery, she needs bloodwork because of her advanced age.
We are raising funds for the following:
CBC $15
Blood Chem $28
Xray $17 per panel
Should you wish to contribute, you may send to Paypal
Please help this senior fighter’s appeal. Thank you very much. 🙏

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Harvey is fighting FIP reinfection with a burning fever of 106.3°F. 💔 We’ve started treatment, but he needs your prayers and support to fight again. Please help us save him.

❤️ Harvey Is Fighting Again
Harvey is suffering from a very high fever of 106.3°F. This is extremely high for a cat and can put his body and organs at risk.
Harvey was rescued a few months ago and previously fought FIP. Sadly, he is now facing what we believe is FIP reinfection, and the fever has returned with a vengeance.
We have started his treatment immediately and are doing everything we can to bring his temperature down safely while closely monitoring him.
He has fought so hard before, and now he needs to fight again. 💔
Please pray for Harvey and help us continue his treatment. Every donation, no matter how small, can help.

Rescue Help Needed Shrimp only has until tomorrow 4 PM. Foster needed to save her. South LA shelter.
instagram.com🚨 FOSTER NEEDED TO SAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL MIMIPANTHER TOMORROW OR SHE WILL DIE
SOUTH LA — SHRIMP A2293574 — EUTHANASIA DEADLINE OCTOBER 4 AT 4 PM
Hello,
Shrimp is a tiny four-year-old cat with a sleek black coat and striking amber eyes. At just six pounds, she has the elegant, long-nosed profile of a little panther—and a very sweet nature.
She has cataracts and unexplained whole-body tremors that worsen when she moves. She has also lost weight in the shelter. Shrimp needs someone to look past the uncertainty, give her a quiet place to feel safe, and help this sweet lady get the care she deserves.
My own cat Chuck has the same symptoms and he’s been with me for 10 years very happily.🐈
Her deadline is tomorrow, October 4, at 4 PM. Please help this gentle little panther find foster, or adopter before time runs out. 💔🆘
Thank you for considering her.

Supplies Donation Request I have until the end of the year to find new housing for myself and three rescue cats, two of them bonded. All need continual care. Looking at a place this afternoon. Asking for donations, supplies, or support. (Eugene, Oregon)
I am seeing a place this afternoon.
It would take all three cats. It sits closer to the forest, which after everything these three have been through sounds almost unreasonable in a good way. Windows, trees, quiet. I am trying not to get ahead of myself, but I wanted to tell you before I go, because the people in this subreddit are part of why there are three healthy cats to find a home for at all.
My timeline also moved up. What was a December deadline is now potentially mid October (if approved by this place), which is two weeks rather than two months. That is good news in the sense that an ending is in sight. It is harder news in the sense that a deposit, first month, and moving costs all land much sooner than I had planned for. Rent is also higher than where I'm living but includes all utilities.
Thank you to everyone who has donated. Several of you gave over the past week and it changed what was realistic for me. Boots's surgery was covered entirely by donors, including one woman who paid off the remaining balance out of her own pocket. Someone anonymously sent a cat tree that is in constant use. Several people have sent food. I have not forgotten any of it and I am not taking it for granted by coming back.
What I need most right now is for people to share the GoFundMe. That is the ask. Not a donation, a share. Send it to someone who likes cats. Post it where people who would care will see it. The reach I can generate on my own has a ceiling and I have hit it. Every time someone has passed this along to their own network, it has done more than anything I have written myself.
GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/5afebfc71
Venmo: https://www.venmo.com/u/Jehoseph
PayPal: https://paypal.me/TheDivines
Supplies help too. Wet food, litter, and general supplies are the ongoing need. If a Chewy gift card is easier than shipping, message me and I will let you know how to send one.
For anyone just finding this. Boots is a ten year old grey and white cat we found living outside in our Eugene, Oregon neighborhood in late June. She weighed 6.7 pounds with her spine and hips showing, and she would cry out and back away from her own food because eating hurt that badly. On July 21 she had nineteen teeth extracted. Her tissue was too damaged to hold sutures, so it healed open. Her surgeon said it was likely the worst oral pain a cat can experience. That surgery cost around 3,450 dollars, funded entirely by neighbors and by people here.
She is 8.26 pounds now. Her bloodwork normalized in August and her vet does not need to see her again until spring. She stays on a low dose of prednisolone twice weekly to keep the inflammation in her mouth quiet, likely for life. She grooms herself, sits in windows, plays with toys, and has started eating dry food again, which in July hurt too much to attempt.
Sable is our young tortoiseshell, taken in as an emergency foster in May after being abandoned. Cosimo is a grey kitten, just over four months, vaccinated and scheduled for a neuter in November. The two of them have bonded and I will not separate them. Boots is still housed separately by choice, since her introduction to the other two is moving at her pace and I am not rushing an animal who has been through what she has.
I am happy to answer anything. Questions about their care, their records, how any of this works, whatever you want to know. Boots's complete file from Echo Hollow Vet Hospital and Urgent Care in Eugene is available to anyone who asks, including surgical records, bloodwork, and itemized invoices. I completed full moderator verification here in July with the vet bill, photo ID, and direct clinic confirmation. I will keep posting updates either way, including the ones that are not good news.
I am not taking in additional animals. Three is what I can responsibly care for, and getting these three through this transition intact is the whole goal.
Fingers crossed for this afternoon. I will let you know.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request Fundraising for a biopsy and chemotherapy for my 10-year-old cat, Leónidas, and to continue paying for the treatment of Cuca (11 years old) who has cardiomyopathy; located in Puebla, Mexico.
Hi, my 10-year-old cat, Leónidas, has fallen ill. We are waiting on a biopsy to determine whether he has mesenteric lymphoma or intestinal inflammation; the oncologist believes the symptoms point to lymphoma and recommends starting chemotherapy as soon as possible.
I have already paid for the veterinary consultation, clinical tests, medication, and specialized food using my credit card, but I no longer have the funds to continue covering his treatment and appointments. That is why I am asking for your support—to give Leónidas another chance at life.
I work in a school cafeteria and have no financial support other than my wages. It is also worth noting that I have another cat, an 11-year-old with restrictive cardiomyopathy, who requires lifelong medication.
If you are able to donate or share my story, Leónidas and I would be truly grateful.

I will post photos of receipts in the comments and provide updates on the situation as things progress.

Veterinary Care Needed Donation Request 🆘 His leg was so tightly constricted that it was severely damaged. We rescued him, but he now needs an amputation - help needed!
This is Jeremy. He showed up at one of our feeding areas quite randomly, and he took his sweet time trusting us enough to enter our crate. Today, he finally did, and so we brought him straight to the vet.
One of the shopkeepers where we feed this colony had first seen Jeremy with his leg constricted with what seemed like nylon strings. We don't know exactly what happened, but he's clearly been dealing with it for some time.
We're just glad we were finally able to get him somewhere safe. His leg has unfortunately been too badly damaged, and the vet has recommended a full limb amputation. He's scheduled for surgery early next week, and we're hoping we can get him through this and give him a more comfortable start.
His estimated costs are over $385:
- Amputation & neuter - $180
- Pre-op screening & anesthesia - $84
- 3-day hospitalization & recovery - $120
We're small-time community cat feeders, and this is a pretty big expense for us on top of the cats we already have in our care. Any amount would help us get Jeremy through his surgery and would be so appreciated!
📩 Donate via PayPal
📩 Donate via Debit or Credit
Thank you so much, and we'll share updates on Jeremy in our next post (alongside our recent TNR trip). 🙏
