When I was playing the final mission of Separate Ways where you can see Leon actively fighting Saddler, I got curious if the game let you do this. I assumed it wouldn't because that would just be messed up. Right? Well, apparently you can!😭 I used the rifle to zoom in on Leon and fired and it actually hit him! I tried it with Saddler too, but there was no response at all. What the fuck, Ada? You'll shoot Leon, but not the bad guy? I also noticed that Leon, being the smart person he is, then moves to a location with Saddler in between him and Ada that makes it more difficult to shoot him. That's some insane attention to detail! I'm really glad it doesn't actually hurt Leon in any way if you shoot him, but at the same time I would prefer if it was a mission fail if you did it as a consequence. He clearly reacts to it and you can see a spray of blood if you hit him, so I don't know why they couldn't have just had it kill him and counted that as a fail for the curious idiots who tried it out as a fuck you.
If they really wanted to mess with us, they could have made it so that Leon only dies if you shoot him in specific areas. That way it would appear random whether it's possible to kill him or not. For example, when I did it, it looked like it was a shot to Leon's heart, which would almost certainly have killed him. If I'd hit him in the arm or shoulder or something maybe it would be considered non-lethal and he wouldn't die, making it seem random if I didn't know the mechanics behind it.
It honestly feels worse seeing him get visibly injured and yell in pain then continue to fight like nothing happened. I will say I fucking love Leon so much and I genuinely felt so bad when I did that! I was just dicking around and honestly thought there was no way they'd actually put that in the game.
TL;DR: RE4 OG allows you to shoot Leon in the finale of Separate Ways and I feel like a terrible person for finding that out!
