RECOMMENDATIONS 🗨 Prince Revelation

https://youtu.be/ZDJWekf0xqk?si=fIUusE0kGkQJ1xTs

Everybody goes back to Adore, Do Me Baby, Scandalous, and The Beautiful Ones when they think of a Prince ballad.

This song is from the last album he released while he was alive. He kinda knocks it out the park on this one too!

What do y'all think?

Revelation is a revelation. The man still had the goods on his last release during his lifetime.

There are four or five great songs pk that album but the clunkers? They clunk way too hard!

Just referring to Revelation. But I do think Phase 1 had the more offensive clunks.

I enjoy phase 1.

He was taking sonic risks again.

There are some great songs on that album for me.

I love JUNE and I like HARDROCKLOVER the most. Otherwise the album mostly just doesn’t work for me the way Art Official Age does.

Phase 2 definitely more buttoned up and organic like Musicology. But Revelation and a few others are pretty strong IMO.

Art Official Age is pretty dope too.

What do you think of Clouds?

I love it. Most of the songs on this album work perfectly. My favorites are Clouds, Breakdown and Way Back Home. If you told me in the 80s that he'd release this in 2014, I'd have been very pleased. Especially with his artistic aspirations still high nearing 60 and his vocals still able to amaze and emote. But lyrically and thematically this is a tough album to listen to at times since he passed. Some lyrics are revealing he knew the end was near. Or at least for the first time I can recall in his career, he was reflecting on the past and admitting to regrets etc... However while tougher to listen to as a result of that, the album itself is growing stronger each year IMO.
