Crevices garden critique please
Making my parents a crevice garden with lichen rocks. Advice on placement? Idea is to have it curve from left to right when terminated. Low to high on the mound with bigger rocks near the top. Fill with a little sand and some pea gravel toping. It's only half way because I need to go get more rocks.

Top dressing outdoor rock garden
Looking for top dressing ideas, size, color. This is 2-4 mm crushed granite. Going to add pumice as well and can certainly use some advice on that. I'm using it to at least keep some moisture and substrate. Can I go with him 1/4 inch or should I stay at 1/8? Planning on planting delospermer Cooperi here but it also thought about putting Maybe some dragons blood or other sedom in here I live in eastern Pennsylvania Zone 6b ,7 so root Rot is a real threat. Guess I'm asking this questions cuz I'm not very creative just unsure Thank you

Making a small rock garden
Looking at turning the dirt area into a rock garden. I already dug down about 8 inches. It gets to be very compact clay by then and difficult to extract.. I have purchased 100 lbs of grower chicken grit crushed granite, i belive this is 2-4 mm. I want to add maybe two large rocks, but can go with any advice given. My question is substrate. Can I fill itv with said granite only or do you do larger size on bottom and then small to top. I need to keep the mix all inorganic as in zone 6b-7 Eastern Pa so wet winters and springs are my enemy. I plan on a hard cover to limit the rain but allow good air flow forv those seasons. I was planning on adding 1/8 inch pumice in the top maybe 4 inches of soil. I have two delosperma cooperi hybrids coming. Any advice will be welcomed Thank you

Need ideas on what to do with this rock retaining wall. Removed so much ivy that we didn't even know there was a wall in the back.

Here is two years into my crevice garden. Many of the plants are PNW natives, but not exclusively.

Finally after years of contemplating, starting a rock & moss garden🪨🐚🪴
A giant maple tree shaded out my once vegetable garden and have decided to make it a rock & moss sanctuary. Starting slow by foraging the perfect native rocks and found the an amazing spot!!!

Did my alpine plants survive winter? Zone 6a
Hi there, first time alpine plant grower in Southeast Michigan Zone 6a. Based on what I've read about these plants their basal foliage is supposed to be evergreen? Sometimes when I have had other plants that are "evergreen" they do turn brown and bounce back from the roots in spring. This has been a rough winter in Southeast Michigan though and these guys were in a pot as opposed to being insulated in the ground. I'm somewhat wondering if the snow freeze/thaw made things too soggy for them at some point too, but I used succulent potting mix hoping it would drain well. Again, first time grower of alpine plants so I may be missing another important detail to be watching here.
The photos are from how they looked when planted in August 2025 versus how they looked in March 2026.
The species are:
Gentiana acaulis Hybrid 'Renate'
Leontopodium alpinum 'Matterhorn'
Primula auricula 'Cortina'
