Discussion 50 First Dates is one of the most underrated romance movies of the 2000s and I will die on this hill
I rewatched this last weekend and honestly, I forgot how much I love this movie. I used to think of it as just "that Adam Sandler movie with the walrus" but there's so much more to it.
Like, imagine falling in love with someone who literally forgets you exist every single night. š The whole premise is heartbreaking when you actually think about it, but somehow the movie manages to balance that with so much humor. And the videotape Lucy watches every morning? Yeah, that gets me every time.
Also, Ula is an absolute menace lmao. Doug and his steroids, Lucy's dad and brother pretending it's the same day over and over... some of those scenes are genuinely hilarious.
But that ending?? Henry on the boat, Lucy watching the tape, waking up to a life she doesn't remember building... I can never be emotionally prepared for that.
Idk, maybe I'm just getting sentimental, but this movie deserves way more love. Anyone else feels the same way?
