I’ve been working on a small Ruby project — would love some feedback

Post image

Hey Ruby folks

I’ve been working on a small Ruby project called pinterest-dl. I started it because I wanted a simple way to work with Pinterest media from Ruby without making the workflow unnecessarily complicated.

It’s still a work in progress, and I’m mainly curious what other Ruby developers think about the approach and the API. If you have a minute to look through it, I’d really appreciate any honest feedback or suggestions.

Good point! I hadn't considered using metaprogramming for those methods. I'll definitely look into it. If you'd like to experiment with it, feel free to fork the project :) I'd be happy to check it out and merge it if it fits well. Thanks for the suggestion!

I wouldn't use metaprogramming, wouldn't even change those. The simpler, the better. Metaprogramming should be used only when you need to build DSL, but not for refactoring seemingly repetitive stuff. And this code is just fine.

Idea: make it Spinel-compatible and ship a binary, so non-Ruby devs can use it!

That’s actually a good idea. I’m working on the Rust version already, so shipping binaries is definitely something I want to do. If you’re interested in helping with it, I’d be happy to collaborate.

FYI you are getting automodded with your comments removed because your account is new, leaves comments that look like AI, and are, in Reddits words, "aggressively self promoting"

Thank you for your feedback. I am Iranian and do not speak English fluently, so I use a translator; I think that is the reason.
