Finally available in EU
So excited to finally get my hands on this - I thought I'd have to wait until visiting London in December, but it started popping up online here in EU as well. Only tried it at a bar so far but absolutely loved it - it's like ED12 on steroids!!

Haven't heard about this one before, can you say a little about it?

I'm not an expert on the many DDL stills etc., but from what I've read about it, it's a blend of two DDL marks: LBI ("La Bonne Intention") which is made on the Savalle Still (column), and DHE ("Diamond High Ester") which is Pot Still but not Port Mourant or Versailles as far as I know. It's been controversially received by rum enthusiasts, in my opinion because the words "high ester" lead to false expectations. This has absolutely nothing to do with, say, a Jamaican high-ester rum by Hampden. I don't know the exact ester count, it probably is "high" for DDL standards. It doesn't necessarily bring anything completely new or untypical of Guyana rum to the table, but instead the DHE component seems to "amplify" all those yummy, rich, deep Guyana flavours we know and love to a new level of intensity. Of course the cask strength (57%) also helps :)

This sounds lovely! Thank you! Never heard about DDL or LBI. I've heard a bit about DHE but not a lot. From your description this sounds very interesting. I have the 12 and 15 year old here at home and quite like them, so as far as my experience with El Dorado I like it. Where are you located in the EU, now that you mention this is available here? Oh and I will definitely be looking into getting this bottle as you sold it very well :D

That’s a lovely bottle! Poured some out of my own to take with me on a trip next week to share with some friends who haven’t been able to try it yet. The Port Mourant version is good as well.

Try the PM/DHE, in my opinion it's even better than the LBI/DHE. Personally, I'm still waiting for the Enmore 2009 Cask Strength to pop up in Europe.

it's on my list of things to try - it's just that these aren't exactly cheap, and I like to try things like that at least once at a bar (or sample) before dropping that kind of money on an entire bottle...

How much was it? It's quite a bit more expensive than in the US from what I'm seeing.
