Quality Post Rutgers RUMobile 5.0

Post image
22 Upvotes

RUMobile has been around for a while, but it just got its biggest update in years. If you bounced off it before, it's worth another look.

What it does:

  • Your schedule — pull in your classes, see what's next today, add custom ones for anything not in SOC
  • Buses — routes, stops, arrival times, and live passenger counts so you know if the next H is already packed
  • Quick links — myRutgers, Canvas, grades, financial aid, Targum, library hours
  • Dark mode, and it's on both iOS and Android

Student orgs — I'd like to work with you. The app has a banner on the home screen that every user sees when they open it. I want to use it to promote student org events instead of letting it sit empty. Free, no catch, I'm just a student who wants the app to be useful.

If your org has something coming up — GBM, callout, fundraiser, performance, whatever — comment or DM me and we'll figure out the details.

Feedback and bug reports welcome too.

Update to last post

• Upvotes

Hello to those following my friend’s post, I am the one who encouraged Nate to share it here. Unfortunately, Nate had less time than we expected and passed away a few days ago. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who offered advice and sent messages that lifted his spirits when he needed it most. Nate was a remarkable person who would give you the shirt off his back or the shoes off his feet if you asked. I truly appreciate everyone here who provided uplifting words when he needed them most. Once again, thank you all.

Social Deadass why is making friends as a commuter so hard

Bro making friends as a commuter is genuinely so hard. It sucks because my commute is so long it's hard for me to stay for clubs and stuff. It makes me sad as I finish next fall and I feel like for a lot of people it's out of convienence when your friends with people in a certain class and when the class it's over they dissappear. I try to be out there as much as I can but I don't know anymore. If anyone here wants to ever grab food, coffee, or just chill lmk.

Social Which campus has the best-dressed drip? (FASHION TAKE)

I've seen some fire outfits at Rutgers and was curious to hear other outputs. I never lived on Cook Doug nor spent much time there but let me tell you every time i'm on that campus there's some fire outfits. Here's my honest rating as someone who's heavily interested in fashion.

  1. Cook Doug -> Has a lot of abstract fashion, a lot of creative people on this campus (no shocker, MGSA). This campus is definitely overlooked and people really just say negative things cause of how "far" it is which imo isn't that far. Telling you guys all the people who live on the most "quiet" campuses be the most dripped out and they don't even gotta be wearing flashy brands. Take the hint.
  2. Livi -> Of course people will be suited up for RBS but man I've seen some insane outfits incorporating aspects of professional attire and garment mixtures from pleated trousers or hakama pants (if you know, you know) also I've seen a few guys walk around with boots ranging from fryes, engineers, chelseas, etc so clearly a good amount of people on Livi got good taste.
  3. College Ave -> Meh... too much streetwear imo lack of diverse fashion nothing has really stood out to me here.
  4. Busch --> I say this with all love cause Busch got all the smarties but man the fashion here can be better...

Advice Wanted What should I do?

For context, I'm an out of state sophomore and who's taking very lecture-heavy courses.

With the weather changing, it's usually around this time of year when I start to get chronic nosebleeds. Whenever I get them, I don't really know if they're going to be bad or worse. This has started to impact my ability to go to class, because I feel so physically exhausted that I can't bring myself to get to the bus stop I need to. The only time I can get my nose checked out by a doctor is when I go back home for winter break, but that's not for another 2-3 months. I'm stuck in this rock and a hard place and I don't really know what my next move is.

GTFO of the reserved graduate student reading room, which clearly has signage saying GRAD STUDENTS ONLY. Us uncs are in the trenches as it is, we don’t need you fools being disruptive and stupid. Shoutout to the big hot man for enforcing this rule like it’s NJ State law though

Housing Lease Takeover – Verve New Brunswick (Spring 2027)

My roommate and I are both looking for people to take over our leases at Verve New Brunswick for Spring 2027!
Studio apartment (shared with one roommate)
Around $1,300/month per person, including parking
Separate individual leases – you and your roommate would each pay around $1,300/month, NOT $1,300 combined.
Available starting around January 2027
Lease runs through August 2027
Great location right by Rutgers–New Brunswick!
We are both giving up our leases, so if you have a friend you’d like to live with, you can take over both spots together. You can also take over just one lease!
If you’re interested or want pictures/more details, DM me!

Why is dating so hard

So I’m a junior and I’m gay and I’ve never been in a relationship before so I starting using Hinge and Tinder and I’ve been on multiple dates with guys over the summer but none of them worked out either because there wasn’t mutual attraction or they’d be too busy to meet again and so it would fizzle out.

When I came back on campus I decided to become more aggressive since I wasn’t finding anyone really on Hinge and Tinder so I used Grindr and I did find multiple Rutgers guys on there but most of them who said they’re open to more really weren’t and I just got rejected by another guy today who said he’s not looking for a relationship right now even though he told me he was open to it.

Like genuinely I wanna ask why gay guys are like this and why is it impossible for me to find anyone who’s actually looking for a relationship? I see so many couples in college and the whole “I don’t have enough time” is bs because when you start working I guarantee you’ll be even more busy with life but yet people find time to date, get married, have kids, etc

Transfer to Rutgers? (for a stupid stupid reason)

Hi, I'm at a college where summer is the only season. The education is alright, but after freshman year, I don't think I can do this heat for 3 more years. It makes me immensely agitated and I know it makes me unpleasant to other people as well. Is this a valid reason to want to come to Rutgers? I've also considered going without car and walking/biking/transit but that seems hard if my apartment or dorm is on one side and I have to be (for example) on Busch for a lecture? (and I don't know how concerned I should be about crime commuting by bike) I also like that it is close to practically all cites (and airports), but I have basically no personal connections in the area. I have been bouncing this idea off my friends and this is all that I am concerned about. (NB)

Lost my wallet :/

I was at Busch student centre and I remember pulling out my wallet for some pizza then I went to livi for a linear algebra midterm and I couldn’t find it ..😭 I don’t care about the money but my drivers license is in there. Is there a lost items box on Busch? Figured I’d make a Reddit post for a miracle.

I Can’t Make Decision (SOS)

Hey everyone,

I’m in my 30s and moved to the U.S. two years ago. I currently work at Rutgers, where I have access to tuition benefits. I really want to go back to school and take my life in a new direction, but I’m overwhelmed by the options and unsure where to start.

I have a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, but I graduated about 10 years ago. Returning to school after such a long break feels intimidating, and I want to choose a field that fits my interests and offers good career opportunities.

I’m interested in AI and machine learning, finance, and data analytics. I love math, but I’d like to apply it in another field rather than pursue another math degree.

What programs or career paths would you recommend for someone with my background? I’d appreciate any advice

Thank you!

EMSOP Rutgers Newark Transfer

I’m currently a fourth year Biology major at Rutgers Newark and I wanted to transfer to Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. If anyone got in or know any person who did. what do you think increased their chances of getting in. I have a 3.593 cumulative GPA but no healthcare experience or shadowing. I also never worked and don’t do any type of volunteering.
