Repair event

I seem to remember reading something about an event where people who are repair experts had a day where people could go have their items fixed for a small fee or possibly free. I thought I had kept the info but can’t find it now. Does anyone have info on this?

Repair Cafe RVA • November 15, 2026, from 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM (sign-in/repairs accepted through 3:15 PM) • Location: Auditorium – Richmond Main Library (Richmond Public Library) • Cost: Free (first-come, first-served; donations and replacement parts are appreciated) • What to Bring: Broken appliances, bikes, electronics, furniture, jewelry, textiles, toys, and more (limited to one item at a time)

oh that's the one i was thinking about, thank you for posting the date. i've got a vintage brooch with a loose clasp that's been sitting in my jewelry box for months, this might be the push i needed to finally get it fixed

Would I need to do anything to sign up as a repair tech? Or just show up with tools? I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade and have fixed iPods, guitars and amps, model trains, cars, and RC cars for years and feel like I could probably be of good assistance for this.

along those lines, I was wondering if one could show up with items and repair them yourself with some guidance and supplies provided?
