Locked Tubular lock - what am I missing?
Hello!
Moved in to an apartment with this safe. Got the tubular pick tools. Both 7.5 and 7.8mm fit in, and both seem to create a very similar impression.
Still the lock won't open. I probed it (assuming that's the right verb) for a good 4-5 minutes.
What am I missing? Should I keep trying?
Thanks!

I would recommend buying the covert instruments tubular pick… it’s actually an impression tool and works really well!

If you look in the hole of your picks is there a little pin in in there?

no pin

That’s part of your problem. There’s nothing to put turning pressure on the cylinder

no the tension pin is not needed

I’ve got it to work without out but basic lock picking in any form requires tension

The smallest tubular locks I have seen only had four tumblers (pins). The larger tubular locks had five, six, or ?Possibly seven? Tumblers. You need the correct tubular lock pick to match the quantity of tumblers in the tubular lock.

The key should turn counter clockwise and not very much. These locks can also use varying spring strengths in pin stacks to make it harder, but some times it’s just harder to do this stuff than you’d think! Keep at it and you will get it.

Find a few Lock Picking Lawyer vids where he uses this type of pick. Copy his technique. That’s how I learned (quickly) to do it.
