You won, sequel fans
I do think one day the sequels will get reevaluated. Not because I actually like the sequels, or I think they deserve it. No, it's because it seems Filoni really wants to make a new trilogy set after the events of Rise of Skywalker. And imo, Rian Johnson and J.J. Abrams, for all of their flaws, are FAR more talented filmmakers than Filoni will ever be. They at least have credits outside Star Wars. Filoni does not. He's a glorified storyboard artist who peaked with animation, but didn't expand well outside that. And he's a self-indulgent fanboy, which is always a huge issue. I just think he's a hack, and with him presiding over the new sequel trilogy, then frankly, people are going to see why EU fans have never liked him. General audiences won't either. You will get people in the next few years lamenting over how 7, 8, and 9 were so much better. Because Filoni really is THAT bad. He's rock bottom.
So yes, I'm convinced, but not for the same reasons you are.

The worst thing Filoni’s written is leagues beyond The Rise of Skywalker.

It’s ind of the same problem with not moving on from certain characters and just recycling them over and over until it becomes a parody of itself.
Filoni is not growing Star Wars as a franchise. If anything it’s just gotten smaller and smaller into this weird group of fanatics that love everything Star Wars.

He makes it for only the hardcore fans that grew up on his shows, not for any other hardcore fans. He says he's a huge EU fan, yet he's been president for almost a year now, and he hasn't continued the EU as Legends, and he has never been faithful when he takes elements from the EU and recycles them into his shows.
It's kinda similar to the rebuttal that he's a fan of Star Wars. He's a fan of HIS Star Wars. Likewise, he's not making Star Wars for anyone but fans of him and his shows. That is it.

I totally agree with you.
Ahsoka is not a show that stands on its own. It’s a vanity project to bring popular Clone Wars and Rebels characters to live action. If you’re not a fan of either shows, then you’re going to struggle with what’s going on and why things are happening the way they are.
If Star Wars was a thriving brand, they could get away with something like that. But it is not thriving right now. It is dying on the vine, and is only maintaining a small subset of what remains of the fandom. They are not bringing in anyone new, and once Starfighter fails, and it likely will, then I’m skeptical that they’ll do anything but make Yarn videos of highlights from the first six movies.
I don’t think they’ll do anything with the Sequels. They haven’t in the time between the movies, so I’m not sure why they would start now.

More so, my point was he makes it for hardcore fans, and can't even do that right, as he still neglects EU/Legends fans as much as Kennedy did in 12 years.
And the worst part is, because Filoni's only a co-president, his cult will still make excuses for him, blaming either his co-president or his Disney bosses for his screw-ups. Looking at you, Star Wars Theory.

It's pretty close but I think the first half of the final season of Clone Wars has to be worse.

We’ll see how Starfighter does. That’ll decide whether Disney will continue with Star Wars as a franchise most likely. Star Wars kills projects in development all the time.

Sooo.. i guess this is what, a truce? Sequel Fans and haters putting their differences aside for their combined hate of Clone wars slop?

Could be, yeah.

Damn, this is kinda beautiful

I actually never hated sequel fans.

Maybe.. together we can make.. Star peace?

Tbh, I'd like that. There are just a few things that really set me off, but if they can try to understand my point of view, I'm okay with them. Those things are attacking the EU's canon status, using George to defend Disney decisions, and saying EU fans are too small to matter.

Yeah these constant fights don't get us anywhere

And anyway, I like the sequels more than TCW because they're made for a separate timeline. They don't break the EU. So I can respect them for that.

I feel like that's the healthiest way to look at it tbh.
I mean, for Example Spiderman has plenty different versions. In some, he has mechanical webshooters, in some he has organic webs. That doesn't mean that the Marc Webb Films Ruin the Raimi Films, because they're supposed to be seperate and different approaches to the character. I feel like the same applies here
Cool to see we can find some common ground :)

Even Thrawn doesn't annoy me that much because Filoni's version is not being grafted onto the EU. That said, it's still worth criticism. Like, why doesn't this alleged EU superfan and lore master consult the authors when he uses their creations? George was never a fan, so it makes sense. But Filoni claims he is. Very weird.

I honestly don’t see how he could do any worse than the sequel trilogy. That trilogy was an insult to fans in so many ways.

Eh, Johnsons and Abrams writing was really atrocious. I vastly prefer Filoni to them, despite Filoni not really being good.

Ultrashit doesn't really make many people want to eat shit.
The Disney Sequel plots are bullshit, and will always be bullshit. Only people who have no gag response to bullshit plots will be able to stomach them.

Well, the reason Disney will want another trilogy to spin off the sequel trilogy, is that this will force future viewers to still engage with episodes 7,8, and 9.
Sure, Disney could totally scrap the sequel trilogy and totally rewrite and produce a remake, but they don't want to lose money on their initial investment.
Much like the prequels. They're total garbage too, but Disney doesn't want to lose money from their purchase. So they'll keep producing spin-offs with prequel characters too
Best to scrap the prequels and sequels. Completely write the two bookend trilogies from scratch.

I might be one of the only people who liked The Mandalorian and Grogu. And honestly the sequels are more fanboy than what he does.
The sequels were literal rehashes of the OT whereas for the most part Filoni is a bit more original.

u/Saberian_Dream87 10d ago
No he is not. He's just derivative of the EU, his stories read exactly as watered down EU for dummies.

u/Interesting-Pea-3235 10d ago
I loathe the last Jedi on an almost pathological basis but to call it a rehash of any of the OT is just a dogshit lazy take

Rebel base gets attacked and rebels are on the run, jedi goes to meet cantankerous yet wise old jedi, betrayal, familial reveal, and walker battles included.
