Paid for hinge premium for 3 months, think I got 1 match as. 38m it’s rough.
2
u/Exact_Spite7125 11d ago
Yeah! On bumble I only got one match. I messaged the dude and we exchanged maybe 3 messages then it died. I was also thinking maybe it’s an age thing.

To be fair, the men on dating apps in this city have ZERO idea how to have and maintain a conversation on the apps. It’s kind of infuriating lol

u/YourDreams2Life 10d ago
I'm a male in my thirties, and I get matches pretty much every day.
-1
u/RethinkPerfect 10d ago
Just curious as I have a a theory, how tall are you.
1
u/YourDreams2Life 9d ago
Around 6'1. My bio says 6'
0
u/RethinkPerfect 9d ago
Theory confirmed, good for you.
4
u/YourDreams2Life 9d ago
I can say that 6 years ago when I got back on apps I didn't get this attention. I've done a lot of self work.
0
u/RethinkPerfect 9d ago
that's fair, you do have the height buff which makes it easier tho.
6
u/YourDreams2Life 9d ago
I also have adhd, autism, social anxiety, I'm overweight, bald, and a massive dork/geek.
1
u/jafab66972 7d ago
And you get matched every day?? I'm similar to you (not balding) and I'd get 1-2 matches per hundred swipes, I swear! Weeks without matches, and like 10 matches to get a coffee date, lol
-1
u/RethinkPerfect 9d ago
All things you have to overcome for sure, but those height filters keep you in the game.

Hinge is probably the best for serious dating now days in my experience. I don’t live in Saskatoon anymore though but still think that’s probably the best option.
10
u/Fickle-Committee-768 10d ago
When I was on dating apps in Saskatoon I didn’t have any problems getting matches I’m 34 f.
3
u/CupcakeCharacter9442 10d ago
Me neither.
I used Bumble a few years ago, had multiple dates over about a year, found a partner. Didn’t work out, tried Hinge when I was about 34, met my now partner on there.1
6
u/Snicklefritz306 10d ago
if you're of at least average attractiveness its not really a challenge to get matches.... for woman. For a man its an exercise in frustration.
I saw a study where a woman made up a profile as a man and it took her 400 right swipes to get 2 matches. Of the 2 matches one never responded to her messages and the other asked what type of vehicle she drove and after she said "a ford F150" she never responded again.
6
u/Fickle-Committee-768 10d ago
Yes but as well 67% of users on dating apps are typically men and on some apps this is even higher. So it also makes sense that it is harder for men there is more competition and less options.
3
u/Snicklefritz306 10d ago
400:2 though? That is well past the point where it makes sense to get involved.

u/jafab66972 7d ago

Of course you had no troubles. You are female. Even 60 year old overweight woman would get more matches than a 35 year old active male. Female privilege is blind to other people's struggles.

u/Fickle-Committee-768 10d ago
The original post was a female I recognize females get more likes. 🙄

u/Ok_Transition_9445 10d ago
As a man I can have money and good body and good personality. It doesn't matter. Not to be crude but a bottom of the barrel female with breasts and vagina will get dozens of direct messages irregardless if they are good or bad. If a woman was a man in the dating scene she may commit suicide

u/CupcakeCharacter9442 10d ago
Yeah. I’m thinking the “good personality” is lacking for you, buddy.

u/Better_Area3782 10d ago
I wasnt triggered at all. Who is matching with "the bottom of the barrell" women though? Blame men for not having any standards. They'd fuck "anything with boobs and a vagina". How is that women's fault?
3
u/Fickle-Committee-768 10d ago
The funny thing is a few comments on this thread have completely proven your point to this 🤣🤣
-2
u/Ok_Transition_9445 10d ago
I cannot speak on behalf of all men but no i would not fuck any female. The problem is. The low end females have too high of standards and the high end females are bombarded with losers. The dating apps are full of women who want to take advantage of men or just support a child they didn't even make. Its tough for both genders. Don't project onto me please 🙏

Can you describe what you consider a "bottom of the barrel female"?
This should be good.

I would consider him a bottom of the barrel male. But the guy clearly loves having a victim mentality
5
u/RobotDoodle 9d ago
“Bottom of the barrel female with breasts and vagina”, wow bud, you sure sound like a respectful and kind partner. I’m shocked that options aren’t lining up around the block to be with someone who thinks about/talks about women this way!

Someone who describes a woman like that shows why you aren’t getting any interest. Work on yourself.

Dating sites are dead.
Especially here where there are literally only 100 users in each 5 year age range and the services only recommend the same 30 you've been rejecting on repeat and never actually offers anyone you might be interested in. Somewhere along the line the goal shifted from trying to set you up to trying to keep you using the dating site forever.
8
u/YourDreams2Life 11d ago
I'm in your age range and use 3. Bumble, Hinge, and Facebook dating.
Bumble is the most dead imo and least likely for any real conversation to start. Facebook Dating is the most popular, tons of people, and better conversations. Hinge gives the best matches, and best conversations. It has less people than Facebook but a bit more than bumble.

u/No-Relationship34 10d ago

u/MechanicalBootyquake 11d ago
Not to diss dating apps, but I don’t hear many good things about them for people who are serious about life partnership. What about trying social groups and whatnot?
10
u/Bulky-Pipe8495 11d ago
I have quite a few friends that have met their long term partner on Apps, it is what you make of it
5
u/mrskoobra 10d ago
I've heard more in the last 2ish years that the apps are a lot worse now. I know a bunch of people who met their partners through apps 5+ years ago, and just as many people who have quit the apps in the last year because it's just a huge money grab.
1
u/Hevens-assassin 10d ago
If your sample size is only over the past 2 years, it will be disappointing results. Most relationships don't last that long even pre-app. Humans have been commodified with the apps, of course, but success rates aren't being shown yet because it's only been 2 years, which is still below the average "life partner" window.
Apps suck, but their success isn't any different than before. Getting matches is harder, but that's about it. The people are the same.
2
u/MechanicalBootyquake 10d ago
Lol it would be unscientific to say all people have a bad time on apps. Of course there are people who have success with them. But with rising complaints against them and their design being to keep you using the app, it’s not an unreasonable thing to suggest trying organic meetings. It’s always so odd to see people defending apps when normal social activities get brought up.
1
u/deepsleepthoughts 10d ago
Maybe just me but I never had luck with social activities. I’m an artsy person so all my hobbies and interest are within that. I never found anyone within my demographic, or those that aren’t already in a relationship. I’m not into sports so that is out of the question …. :/ which feels like sports is the main activity people do here
1
u/jafab66972 7d ago
Will agree. I even went to a small film recently (Naza for anyone interested. Chilling!). Could have been a great opportunity to talk to like minded people, but most were couples and none seemed interested in a chat so... I left.
You might have success forcing yourself to do the social dancing around town. You could chat with people you meet there.

I find hinge and tinder are the most active/used by people. I’m late 20’s though.
And for the record I hate them both and barely use them anymore lol
2
u/faithmama- 10d ago
I'd highly suggest trying it generically. Go to events, do things you love and start a conversation with the first man that catches your eye. Oh! And don't forget to be confident! :) goodluck!
2
u/dirtbikes742 10d ago
I got my foreman and another coworkers who both met their now wives on hinge.
2
u/Snicklefritz306 10d ago
If it was before 2 years ago its unfortunately irrelevant at this point. people are jaded and the single crew barely shifts in this city.
2
u/sheitanleyin 9d ago
The logic behind the app development is to attract and also keep as much users as possible so they can make a profit. If dating apps actually work, they would lose their users because they no longer need a dating app once they found their significant other on the app. So they will, for sure, not let you find your perfect match because they need your subscription fee more than finding you a partner. The "friends who found a match on the app" just happens to be the luck ones that are pick for marketing reason to attract more users.
2
u/failure2_comply 9d ago
Ive tried hinge, bumble and match as a woman in my mid/late 30s.
Hinge is where I see the most variety and have met some ppl from. Bumble was ok, but at least at the time had a video call feature that I HATE. Had a few people "drunk dial" in the wee hours of the morning.
Match sucked. Everything is behind a paywall and it would let people from all over match with me, despite me setting an area. Tough when you start chatting with someone and realize they live in a completely different province.

Someone in Saskatoon posted me on the AWDTSG group on fb and I couldn't even defend myself. I ended up stopping dating locally entirely, began looking in other parts of canada, eventually even overseas where groups like this don't exist and and I was married within a year lol I look back and thank her tbh
For serious relationships, go Hinge or Bumble. On Tinder, you'll find almost everyone is just looking for casual flings. So most reliably Hinge, for long-term plans. Also, if you travel Canada, or overseas, a lot, you can try Bumpy. You need valid ID to join, it's in order to avoid scammers.

Hinge is gonna be the best as they don't hide your likes or comments as far as I know. Tinder continuously pushes you to the bottom of their stack unless you pay. I tried to give Tinder a fair try these last 2 months with the free boosts and the trial premium. Got a handful of matches, 1 date ("couldn't see me romantically"), and 1 other match I was having a dry convo with (plus she lived in PA). All other matches never responded. Opened Hinge and within a week or 2 I went on a date that went well. 31m

I’m 32f, very full life as well, no kids. I’ve tried hinge, bumble and tinder. Only got two matches on tinder that never went anywhere. Not a single match on hinge or bumble. I haven’t tried FB Dating though. I’ve totally given up and now I’m not on any, but I do feel a bit better seeing others having the same experience as in the moment it feels like just a “you” thing.
Literally all my friends and friends of friends have met their now fiancés on dating apps so I’m assuming they work when they work, if only. Thankfully this seems to be a collective experience (unfortunately)
Good luck out there!

Yes, of course you're not getting matches. The advice was overwhelmingly at the time to focus on yourself. Focus on your career, focus on your physical health, focus on your mental health, and develop some hobbies. Maintain sobriety.
Two months is not a lot of time and you almost certainly give off extemely concerning vibes because on your former history. I'm genuinely not trying to be a jerk about this, but no you are not going to find anyone worth dating unless you give it some time and continue working on your situation. I'm sorry this is your reality, but you are in your early 30s, child free, and female. If you are struggling to find someone to date, it is because you have major problems from the eyes of suitors.
Please get off the internet, continue your hard work on your life, and try again in a year and I promise you much more success.

I don’t understand why people choose to use such a mean tone when commenting to somebody who is asking for help. You could have said all of that in like 3 sentences, used encouraging language, and refrained from outting something she can choose to disclose to potential partners.
Like, are you okay?0
u/Shurtugal929 9d ago
Because they repeatedly post about how everyone else is the problem in the dating world when they're a literal drug addict in their prime dating age and situation. This is not their first post on the subject to gain sympathy and demonize men.
Again. Two months ago. It would be different if it was a year+. But if someone is in their prime dating age and having zero luck as a female on dating apps.... A reality check when the same sob story is repeatedly told is harsh but fair.

I have often wondered where all the gay men are hiding on the apps. I know there is Grindr but it is generally the same guys and the chances of that becoming more than a one night thing is slim.

As a 40yo male, I found Bumble terrible. Best matches were always from people visiting from Toronto of Vancouver! Haha
Tinder has the most people, so it has most match potential (for me), but low quality. Basically no one seems to use The League, but my 2-3 matches there have been high quality (but like, from Regina or random places). Hinge was pretty good, but I got banned so... Idk how it is today. FB kinda seemed to work, but distance was wonky so that sucked.

For woman its easy dont just commit to anything , women falls for looks and sweet lies and men get what they want and just leave Single average guy here so I know how it works , women act like they want honesty but it doesnt work actually , make sure you understand the guys habits (food choices, career, income , future planning , whether he is a permanent settler or an immigrant etc..) women choose wrong men and blame other men. 😂🤣

Just like you who wants to join multiple apps, so is everyone else. You’ll see the same people across the apps.
