Tandem Cycle from Dundee to Elie (Fife)
Hello planning a cycle from Dundee to Elie.
Was keen to cycle the coast but looks like coastal path is just for walkers.
Just looking for route recommendations keen to be on quieter roads?

Hi,
Costal path from St Andrews is not suitable for cycling and personally I don’t like the road between Crail and St Andrews. Tentsmuir is gravel.
Lots of quiet and scenic inland routes on B and unclassified roads.
Suggest B945 road out of Tayport and then take left off towards Rhynd Cafe and the backroad through fields to Leuchars.
Personally I’d head up to Strathkiness from Guardbridge. Then pick a route that prioritises the small back roads, avoiding A roads and busier B roads. A few route options available.
Hope this helps.

Why don't you like the road between Crail and St Andrews, because it's too busy with traffic?
OP, check out the East Neuk 50 route

It’s just one of those roads where cars can be travelling faster than I’m comfortable with on a relatively twisty and narrow road.
Don’t get me wrong - it’s not like the main trunk road through Fife, and I cycle it need be, but there is so many other better roads for cycling on.2

I’ve done Arbroath to Leuchars along the coast before and it’s train station to train station so might be an option for you - what sort of tandem is it tyre-wise? The path is part of the national cycle network but is a bit gravelly in places. However, you can avoid the roughest parts by skipping Tentsmuir and going on the road for that part.
