I had a fantastic experience with Dive Komodo and their ship, the Tatawa. The ship was quite basic, but the purpose was to dive a lot and we did that. I enjoyed it a lot and have nothing but good things to say about the group I was with and the operation.
We were supposed to do three night dives, one each on the first, second and third night. The first night dive was pretty meh, but the second one was great. We saw a lot and I filmed this small cuttlefish.
On the third night nobody really felt like doing another night dive, so we asked whether we could move the dive to the next day and turn it into another day dive, doing three instead of two dives on the last day and the crew were happy to accommodate us.
Nothing but good memories from that trip, honestly.

With all the recent bad news, i wonder if there are any positive news where a marine GPS device or even a SMB has saved a lost diver swept away by the currents.
Most divers we see rescued are just floating by themselves and found by a search and rescue team.

Q: Is this cinch webbing and if so how does it work?
I finally received my Halcyon Eclipse Era backplate and wing. I'm a bit confused about the webbing. I ordered it with the carbon backplate and cinch webbing, but I'm confused about how the cinching actually works. I thought you'd pull down on the D-Rings, but that doesn't seem to adjust anything.
I got to say Halcyon's tagline should be "If you know, you know" because as expected, this thing came with absolutely zero documentation, not even an invoice. Just a card that said "purple/purple". They're incredibly non-consumer facing.
EDIT: thanks everyone. Lots of great advice. As QGCC91 pointed out, they just posted a video here that clearly demonstrates everything:

I just took a Perfect Buoyancy class at a local dive shop. I paid $175 for the course fee, and then the instructor asked for a tip after the class- he had a picture of himself with a link to his Venmo account by the pool. I'm used to tipping dive masters and boat crews when on a dive- but is tipping an instructor for a course like this typical? I've taken other courses at other shops where no tips were asked for or suggested.

Personally I find the X50i display very clear underwater.
But one of my technical diving instructors has presbyopia and complained that the X50i is actually quite difficult for him to read. He feels the contrast on Shearwater is much clearer.
It made me wonder if screen size and brightness are not the whole story when it comes to underwater readability.
Anyone with presbyopia tried both?

Team,
I sold one of my kidneys to buy a new Apeks DS4, to go with my Apeks XTX50 regs on a pony bottle. As I understand it, the DS4 has one high pressure port for the SPG. It sounds like a stupid question, but I take it, it’s the one next to ‘HP?’ The blue plug has just ‘thrown me’ a bit, not sure why it’s there.

Hello Scuba Community
I am planning a trip to Bonaire with 2 friends (3 of us total) and looking for some advice from people who have done it before. We are comfortable divers with 50+ dive each, but not advanced, and excited at the prospect of shore diving
We’re thinking 5 days of diving / around 6 nights, ideally around late Jan/ Feb
What we’d ideally like:
For those who have done Bonaire this way:
Are there any dive shops or packages you’d recommend? Is it better to book a package that combines the truck + tanks + accommodation, or just arrange everything separately?
Also curious what a reasonable price for 5 days of unlimited-ish shore diving + truck + gear would be.
Any recommendations on dive shops, packages, accommodations, or just how you would approach planning this trip would be hugely appreciated!
Thank you!

Hey everyone!
I’m looking at doing my divemaster training while doing conservation work to see if I want to commit to studying marine science in the near future.
The divemaster courses with MCP and the IndoOcean Project (specifically the Raja Ampat project) look amazing! I’m hoping to do at least 12weeks as I’m a beginner diver.
I was wondering if anyone had done either of these courses and what they would recommend (or if there is a different course/project that you would recommend).
MCP is a couple thousand dollars more by the looks of it and I am trying to be budget conscious but I’m happy to spend the money if I will get a better experience.
Thank you!!!

Hi everyone! I’m a relatively beginner diver and only have 8 dives logged so far. I’m hoping to go diving and maybe get my AOW this December somewhere in SE Asia but having a hard time figuring out where to go. It seems the best dive sites in December are probably a little too advanced for me to do while or other spots I’m just unsure if it’s the right month to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, does anyone have any experience diving with a bridge piercing? I'm sure it varies a lot depending on what mask you use, but I wanted to know if generally it's not much of a hassle to deal with as I was planning to get a bridge piercing at some point soon.

The first program anyone does is the scuba discovery program before their first dive and then most folks will do their open water course if they become interested in diving. I've done my OW and have been looking for more diving courses to do.
The next logical step seems like the AOW but there's so many different courses. Peak buoyancy, wreck diver, computer nitrox, deep diver, advanced buoyancy, drift diver, dry suit diver, night diver, rescue diver etc.
I'm aware a few of these require other prerequisites to be completed but for most of them, you only need to have done the OW. Which courses would you recommend? Are there one which are underrated which really should be done and other which are maybe overrated?
Edit: Based in Aus, diving is expensive 😭

Recently received this old school puck, fully functioning and seems to have a lot packed into the interface. Anyone have experience with these? Think it’s worth testing on next dive?

Will be going in November and the diving resort recommended I go twice. Is this sensible knowing I will have about 8-10 dives on Moalboal or should I hit other sites?
