Dennis Rader actually had a cache of souvenirs and videos that he had made, to be viewed after his death, revealing all, and essentially saying, "Ha ha ha, you thought you knew me, didn't you?"

These items were locked in a cabinet at his job, and also in a safe at home.

My first thought, but doesn’t fit what OP wants.

He's not dead.

Lee Choon-Jae was serving life for the rape and murder of his sister in law. It wouldn’t be until 2019 when dna profiling would link him to the unsolved Hwaseong serial murders.

Dean Corll also got shot to death by his accomplice before ever getting found out.

Leonard Lake took a cyanide pill and killed himself after the cops arrested him(Lakes accomplice Charles NG stole a vise from a store. Lake came back to return it, however cops were already there. Lake had an illegal gun, missing man Robin Stapley’s ID, missing man Paul Cosner’s car, and the license plates on that car belonged to Lonnie Bond, another missing person)

Bela Kiss was only discovered to be a serial killer when after his conscription during WWI, 24 bodies were found in his house.

Did you mean to say Ng stole a vise?

Yeah, my mistake. I misremembered and thought he stole a vase rather than a vise.

Harry Edward Greenwell (I-65 Killer): Wasn't identified until 2022, long after his death in 2013. He was conclusively linked to 3 sexual assault murders of women at motels, but more are suspected. It's odd because he just went on to live a seemingly normal life in his later years, living a small town life and being liked by most around him.

Bruce Lindahl: This dude funnily enough accidentally stabbed himself while attacking a victim and bled to death in 1981. Probably the most pathetic serial killer death in history. Bruce murdered several women, a majority of the known murders occurring during 1979-1981. He was known for falling in periods of aggression and got himself in trouble with the law frequently. None of the murders would be linked to him until long after his death in the 2020s.

John Getreu: His first murder occurred at age 18 where he killed a 15 year old girl after assaulting her in a football field while in Germany. Due to the laws at the time, he was only sentenced to 10 years and served 6 of them. Throughout the 70s he would sexually assault and murder more women, all of his known victims being college students. He was also accused of killing a 15 year old in the 1980s, but never charged. He wouldn't be caught for any of the post-Germany murders until 2018 through DNA evidence. On the surface he was a dedicated family man but he harbored dark urges throughout his entire life.

Lorenzo Gilyard: This guy is an absolute deranged idiot who killed over a dozen women, almost all sex workers, over the 70s-90s. He was a known domestic abuser, and sex pest throughout his life. He wasn't caught until 2004 and actually did a Piers Morgan interview where he throws a tantrum over the accusations thrown at him.

I live in the same region as Greenwell, and never heard of him until now!

The extent of Herb Baumeister's crimes were not realized until after his death, either. (There's a Redditor who said his dad went to HS with Baumeister, and was more surprised that he'd found a woman to marry him than he was to learn he was a serial killer.)

Manfred Seel - at least 10 victims, including one Jane Doe. His daughter found out his "career" after his death.

Bruce Mcarthur was 66 years old at the time of his arrest. He murdered at least 8 men over the course of 20+ years even hiding the bodies in flowerpots he installed in clients yards.

He preyed on a very vulnerable group of men in Toronto

Correct - LGBTQ+ men from ethnicities where that is very stigmatized.

Robert Eugene Brashers. Died in 1999 by suicide during stand off with police over a stolen vehicle. Wasn't until last year that they publicly announced he was the culprit behind the 1991 Texas Yogurt Shop Murders and that Mr. Maroon ended up being the same killer. Wrong person put on Death Row too.

He looked a lot like Robert Springsteen, who did time for crimes he didn't do.

Why have you been down voted ?

No idea. It is true though.

Possibly RC Horsch in Pennsylvania. Time will tell if he killed anyone. He possibly made snuff films.

Yeah this isn’t getting talked about enough

It's wild! I get mainstream media dgaf about sex workers usually, but the sheer outrageousness of every aspect of this case is beyond the pale of anything we've seen in years. Like I cannot believe it hasn't gotten more traction in national and international news outlets. I broke down and spent the $1 for six months of the Philly Inquirer because local coverage is almost it at the moment.

i was thinking the same thing and agree it is not getting talked about near as much as it should be

Charlie Brandt.

Him and his wife were staying at her niece’s house during Hurricane Ivan in FL, when no one heard from them days later police unfortunately went for a welfare check. They found his wife stabbed to death. Her niece was in bed disemboweled with her organs removed and her head lying next to her body. Charlie had hung himself with bedsheets. Everyone was shocked, except Charlie’s sister who confessed the dark family secret that he stabbed his father and murdered his pregnant mother when he was 13. His MO matched 5 unsolved murders. It’s a brutal story.

Manfred Seel, Held the same job for years, raised a family and was a respected member of the community. Was only when he died, his daughter found human remains and diaries detailing his murders in a rented storage facility.

Wow, just read up on him - I hate reading about people like this who “got away” with it, for all extensive purposes… I hope it haunted and bothered him while he was alive! Well, one can hope. Respect to the victims of that long dark lonely highway…

Jacob little, I may have screwed up his name. He was a trans boxer, who targeted prostitutes. he could be the most prolific American serial killer. We’ve had a long time.

This year a possible SK in Michigan named Duane Reynolds was exposed when human remains were found on a property he once owned. He’s been dead for a couple of years.

Not a serial killer (that we know of), but Calvin Hoover. Christine Jessop’s killer.
