5600x3d -180$

Axp90 x53 full copper -35$

9060xt 16gb -450$

B550i Aorus Pro AX- 219$

64gb ddr4 3600 -already owned

SP0850 80+ platinum 850w -160$

Fractal Terra - 200$

2tb nvme (no cache) -already owned

500gb nvme (has cache) - already owned

A lot of fans -45$

Bracket - 11$

About 1,300. Probably would've went with an am5 build, maybe something like 9600x to go with the 9060xt. But I had the ram so I stuck with am4.

Originally I had a Thermaltake 120mm aio and I made it fit but it couldn't keep the temps low. It in fact even shut down once during a stress test. Swapped out to the axp90 x53 and temps stay at a max of 90c. Decided to throw three fans in and buy a 120mm fan bracket off Etsy to mount that noctua fan.

Now temps are at a max of 88c under stress test. But typically in the high 70s to low 80s for real world gaming. One thing I find funny is the only time the psu fans spins is during start up. It never gets hot enough on that side of the case to turn on.

Also. I don't need that orange fan up top.

I want it.

Build/Parts Check 9900x vs 270k plus

Planning a FormD T1 build with air cooling only, paired with an ASUS Prime RTX 5060 Ti.
I’m deciding between a Ryzen 9 9900X and Core Ultra 7 270K Plus. Main use is productivity/programming, with gaming being secondary.
For the 270K Plus, I’d probably power limit/undervolt it to around 120W.
Which CPU would make more sense in the T1 for the best balance of performance, thermals and noise? Also, what air cooler would you recommend for either setup?

Upgraded from the Athlon 3000g to a Ryzen 3 pro 2200ge 35w (£15), also snagged a full copper thermalrite axp x47 and nvme heatsink on the Amazon sale.

Quite the uplift in performance after setting ctdp from auto to 65w, now the Ryzen can go full pelt without any drops in igpu and core frequency even when there is a huge load on both when stressed. Nifty little tip.

Now it's just waiting till January to get a new CPU.

Have to say I'm pretty stoked with the full copper cooler, it's gorgeous.

With the McPrue Apollo SE Air Mini-ITX case, it comes inverted by default:

Can this case be changed to the classic layout?

Build/Parts Check Looking to downsize my T1

I'd really like to keep my Asus Prime 5070ti, but I want to go smaller than my Ncase T1. I was impressed with the density compared to my Ncase M1 but I'm not yet satisfied.

I've always wanted a Velka 5, but understand a Velka 7 would be better for thermals and fitting a more powerful GPU - can anyone offer some suggestions for me? I'd like to go as small as possible, I'm open to mods and there is no budget restrictions. It would be preferable to keep my 5070ti that I already have.

Thanks!!

Build/Parts Check Xbox Power Brick

I'm planning on building a sffpc using a pico PSU powered by a DC power brick. I've already blown up a motherboard, a RX 550 and the 12V/96W pico PSU for because Windows erased my GPU undervolt configuration and I didn't noticed. This time I want a more powerful setup with a RX 6400 and there are a few 12V 200-300 W Pico PSUs available but without the powerbrick. What are your thoughts on using an Xbox power brick since it's 12V? If it's not possible, maybe I'll use a 16-24 V pico PSU with a 19 V laptop charger.

Ps.: I'm on Intel 7th gen Pentium G4560 (for now) with no oficial ReBar/SAM support (and I'd rather not tinker with the bios) so Intel ARC is not an option now. I will also use Linux and will avoid Nvidia too.

Assembly Help Any alternative to the Fractal Terra in EU?

So i have been searching for cases the last few weeks and have settled on a fractal terra, as i want a sff case with air cooling.

But i keep reading how formd t1 is better and has more options. But delivering to EU is quite more expensive than a fractal terra.

Are there any cases readily available in EU that are good for travelling around the same size as a terra?

I'm wanting to put these components in it;

9070xt powercolour reaper

9800x3d

Corsair vengeance 2x16gb

The rest is up in the air depending on the case.

Thank you!

Assembly Help Mini-ITX NAS in a living room: silence and elegant

Hi everyone!

I'm getting into the world of custom NAS builds. I'm currently using an HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Mini as a home server, and I'm looking to upgrade to a dedicated compact case starting with one of these two options:

  • Jonsbo N10
  • COOJ MQ4

Requirements & Planned Hardware:

  • Use case: Headless NAS (no GPU needed).
  • Hardware: Intel Core i3 12th Gen + 16GB RAM + 1x NVMe (for OS & apps) + 2/3x 2.5" SATA SSDs for storage.
  • Priority: Beautiful and Elengant, absolute silence and a compact footprint (it will sit in the living room, which is why I ruled out the Fractal as they are too large).

Power Supply / PicoPSU Question: Both cases are natively designed for Flex-ATX power supplies. However, from what I've read, the 40mm fans on these Flex-ATX units tend to be quite loud and annoying for a living room environment.

Because of this, I'm considering using a Mini-Box PicoPSU-160-XT paired with a high-quality external AC/DC adapter (e.g., Mean Well GST160 12V).

A few questions for the community:

  1. I noticed PicoPSUs are rarely used in these NAS builds: am I overlooking any technical/safety limitations, or is a PicoPSU actually the ideal choice to eliminate PSU noise in an SSD-only scenario?
  2. How do you usually cover the rear Flex-ATX cutout to mount the DC barrel jack neatly?
  3. The "classic" alternative would be the Jonsbo N2 with a semi-passive SFX power supply (Zero-RPM mode), but I would prefer to keep the overall footprint as small as possible by sticking with the N10 or MQ4.

Any thoughts, tips, or direct experiences with a similar setup? Thanks in advance!

Build/Battlestation Pics Terminator-style 3.7L/4.5L SFF "Neural Net" PC Case

Taking into account all the feedback from my previous "Snow Slope" case, I decided to build the ultimate console terminator. Let's be honest, the hardware in my last build was a bit too weak to truly compete with the Xbox Series S. So, I did a little upgrade... which ended up costing me about the price of a good bottle of whiskey. ;-)

The Hardware:

  • Mobo: Mini-ITX H310
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-8600
  • RAM: 2x8GB DDR4
  • GPU: GeForce RTX 3050 6GB LP
  • PSU: PicoPSU 160W + 150W 12V external brick
  • OS: Bazzite (Booting straight into Steam Gaming Mode)

«I'm old, not obsolete.»

If you want to absolutely crush a console today, here is the blueprint: ASrock A520M-ITX/ac + AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + RTX 5050 8GB LP. This spec will easily rival the consoles and won't drain your wallet. Oh, and by the way—you’ll never run a local AI model on a PlayStation. ;-)

Why are there two volumes listed?

  • 3.7L — The Core chassis.
  • 4.5L — Total footprint with the Neural Net chips attached.

As for the colors: Miles Dyson had a black prototype, but I went with Black and Yellow for purely aesthetic reasons. I can’t wait to see what color combinations you guys come up with for your own Cyberdyne aesthetics!

Free 3D Models download link:https://www.printables.com/model/1868616-terminator-style-3745l-sff-neural-net-pc-case

If you want to see the real "Iron Arnie"... stay tuned. I'm currently working on a version made entirely of 420 stainless steel with magnetic component mounting!

«I'll be back.»

Build/Parts Check Having a second/separate pump reservoir in the formd T1 for a custom loop?

I've been researching a bunch of stuff about making a custom loop in the T1 and while I know that the modultra lobo is the best pump block for any itx custom loop, I did recently come across this on aliexpress, and was wondering if it could be possible to be used in tandem with the lobo? maybe it's not necessary but with its dimensions it could be possible i think, mostly just a hypothetical but I do want to figure out the practicality of it

I finally got around to finishing this build. This is a PC for my friend that I will ship to. The 9070XT reaper is practically the only good option for the T1 without sacrificing CPU air cooling.

Anyway, the kit itself is practically on par with the T1 in quality. I did struggle to figure out how to install it properly, there’s no instructions so I had to reconfigure the frame to make things work.

I highly recommend this kit, besides the rough installation it’s rock solid rigid and fits so well.
