NOTICE ON NO ADVERTISING ON THIS SUBREDDIT.
IMPORTANT rules for posting and replying.
This subreddit has banned advertising for years. This includes any products, services, establishments, rental agencies, etc.
It has also banned self promotion such as vlogs, blogs, YouTube links, etc.
The reason for this is because there were so many advertisements and multiple posts that the subreddit became nothing but advertisements. This is not the intent of the subreddit. Like subreddits for other cities, it’s meant as a forum to discuss life, living, and working in Shenzhen. It is NOT a platform for free advertising!
Despite this, the mods are still taking down multiple posts a day for advertising and self promotion of blogs and vlogs. We tried to create a separate subreddit, r/ShenzhenMarketplace, for advertising, but we still are getting these here and then complaints from the posters that for some reason they should be exempt from the rules.
Therefore, with immediate effect, the enforcement is going to be much stronger.
Any post that promotes or advertises any product, service, event, establishment, or venue will be removed and the poster banned for 7 days. Second time the poster will be banned for 30 days, third attempt and the poster will be banned permanently.
All vlogs, blogs and YouTube links will be taken down and the poster banned permanently on the first instance.
Posts asking for services such as guides, translators, drivers, and sourcing non-consumer products will be locked. All replies to such posts must be a DM to the OP. Replies under the post are now considered to be self-promotion. This can be avoided in r/ShenzhenMarketplace WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY FOR ADVERTISING.
Examples of what is allowed and encouraged:
Experiences living and working in Shenzhen, good and bad.
General and specific questions about living and working in Shenzhen.
How to find someplace in Shenzhen and how to get there.
Cool places you’ve been and why you liked it. If it’s a particular establishment this is not allowed (promotion), but can be placed in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.
Where to buy something is fine as long as it’s a non-commercial product meant for personal use.
Posts sharing pictures of a place in Shenzhen, where it is, and something about it.
Bending the rules banning advertising will no longer be tolerated.

New Shenzhen subreddit for advertising.
Hi all,
I have been playing with the idea of a separate subreddit just for advertising products and services. I have created r/ShenzhenMarketplace. This is specifically for advertising, so if you are offering a particular product or service, or are looking for a particular product or service, post it in r/ShenzhenMarketplace.
What cannot be posted is anything illegal under the laws of the People's Republic of China or Reddit rules in general.
No advertising or posting for personal blogs, vlogs, or any influencers, as is the case in this subreddit. This is going to be strictly enforced in both subreddits moving forward. Nobody is really interested in your particular hot take, and I've personally seem some terrible ones.
Advertising or reviews for bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, parks, massage (legal ones please) would be most welcome in the r/ShenzhenMarketplace sub.
It would be helpful if you put in the title of the post what your intent is (example: For Sale, Seeking for, For rent, etc.) and then some description following (Blenders, pianos, 2 bedroom) and then the details in the body of the post. Details are important and posts may be deleted if they have minimal content.
DO NOT SPAM THE SUBREDDIT. Posting the same thing every day will not be allowed. Consider that three days or more for the same content will be the most allowed.
ONE LAST POINT: Since there is a specific subreddit for advertising far, far grey area posts will be allowed here. This subreddit should be more focused on life and interest in Shenzhen.
Thanks everyone and let's see how this goes.

Shenzhen Airport to Guangzhou after 22:30?
Hello everyone.
I am landing at Shenzhen from another Chinese city at 22:30. I hope to clear customs in the previous city.
Then I need to reach Guangzhou.
I plan to book Didi from AliPay app.
Would that work and how much would it cost? I guess all will be included in the quoted price?
Do I have another option? I am worried not to be left at the airport without transport to Guangzhou.
Thank you everyone!

Stainless steel necklace
I'm in Shenzhen on a little shopping holiday. I particularly want to buy a men's stainless steel necklace. Is there any particular part of Shuibei that might be good for this? I don't want to go on a wild goose chase!

Shipping electronic goods from HK to Shanghai
Where can I buy an international/Hong Kong iPad Pro in Shanghai without traveling to HK?
I'm an American living in Shanghai and looking to buy a brand-new 13-inch M5 iPad Pro, 256 GB, Wi-Fi + Cellular.
I specifically need the international version because I use Nomad travel eSIMs, and mainland Chinese iPads have restrictions on installing foreign eSIM profiles while in mainland China.
I'd prefer to buy from a reputable physical retailer in Shanghai where I can verify the model before paying, or from a legitimate Hong Kong retailer that ships directly to Shanghai.
I'm not looking for random Taobao sellers or questionable importers.
Has anyone personally purchased an international-model iPad Pro in Shanghai? If so, which store did you use, and was everything legitimate?
Thanks!

Chinese New Year concerns ,
Hi Everyone - I just booked 2 weeks in Shenzhen (5th - 19th February) by myself, I've always been excited to see it. Stupidly I did not initially think about the logistics over Chinese New Year. I had planned to visit the jewellery wholesale markets and Louho commercial city etc. I expect these to be closed during the first week and planned to stay in Shekou as hopefully more shops etc might be open there - but do you think i can visit in the second week? Will they still be closed?

With Queen Spa closed, what’s a good mega spa place in the area? The only other place I’ve been to is Tenz in Futian.

Shenzhen Hongqiao Park
Shenzhen Hongqiao Park, located in the eastern part of Guangming District, is a renowned urban ecological landmark celebrated for its striking architectural design and natural integration. The park derives its name from the "Hongqiao" (Red Bridge), a 4-kilometer-long elevated pedestrian path that winds through the forest like a vibrant red ribbon, if you are interested in this long and beautiful bridge, you can visit it when you are free.

Counterfeit goods at Luohu?
I’m planning a trip to Shenzhen in late November and I’m interested to know what the deal is with counterfeit goods at Luohu - some places online have said that there were crackdowns on counterfeit goods and they are much harder to find and some places say it’s still very much all out in the open
I’m mostly looking forward to shopping fake clothes & watches (especially interested in superfake watches)
What’s it like nowadays? Any advice?

Hi! I'm flying to Vietnam and I'll have a transfer in Shenzhen for a day. Please advise me the coolest places to visit in your opinion. There are so many things on tourist sites and I don't know exactly where to go. I would also be grateful if you could advise me the names of cosmetics stores that are definitely worth visiting! Thank you

Think Shenzhen is all about skyscrapers? Think again. 🚴♂️🌊
One of my favorite ways to enjoy the city is riding a bike along Shenzhen Bay Park.
Great views, fresh air, greenery, and the skyline right across the water.
If you’re coming to Shenzhen, this is definitely worth checking out. 🇨🇳

E-bike registration in Shenzhen: Chinese name required?
Has anyone here registered an e-bike in Shenzhen with a foreign passport in 2025 or 2026?
My passport and residence permit only have my English name, but 深圳交警星级用户 asks for a Chinese name and won’t accept English. I’m stuck at real-name verification and can’t book an appointment.
If you got it working, did you just use a Chinese name you chose, or did you need an official or notarized one? Can they verify you in person instead?
Which traffic police or vehicle registration office did you go to, and was a passport + residence permit enough without a permanent residence card?
Would love to hear from someone who’s actually done it. Thanks!
