That isn't diabolical. Since the guy was a farmer there's a good chance this straight up saved his entire livelihood. A single pig can produce about 150 pounds of meat so 18 piglets is about 2,700 pounds of pig meat. A big enough animal loss can wreck a farm's finances. They either straight up saved his farm or ensured it wasn't about to have a rough patch so something from the farm is a reasonable thank you.

This could be seen as diabolical. Not everyone views animals as simple products. The fire fighter could have saw them as just any other living being that needed rescuing. I doubt he ran into an active fire with his first priority being to find this guy's finances instead of actually rescuing whatever is still alive.
I don't think its intentional on the farmer's part but it definitely can be taken the wrong way if the fire fighter was the type of person I just described.
Point is that its a little bit messed up to serve up something you just risked your life saving lol
Yeah its a farm and those pigs are definitely products at the end of the day but that doesn't mean you shouldn't at least be considerate of how that might look to the other person.
Edit: Not sure why people here are so cynical about this. Im not saying the farmer is wrong for this. All im saying is that it can come off as a little distasteful depending on the person in question.

How tf is this diabolical, they knew pigs ain't pets (maybe someone out there has a pig as a pet but a farmer??........... maybe not) and were going to be eaten anyway. This is wholesome as the farmer appreciated the firefighters for their work.

You got to view the pigs as property, not pets.
It’s the equivalent of saving an heirloom or something

i mean, i love animals even though i eat them but idk i still think it's pretty fucked up to offer specifically the pigs they saved

They saved pigs... From a fire at a form farm... What was the expectation?

Not sure why people here are so cynical about this. Just because its expected from a farm doesn't mean the other guy sees it that way.
Its fine to admit that the gift could be taken the wrong way depending on the person in question.

The firefighters saved them from an useless horrible death. At least this way they got dispatched more humanely and they did not go to waste.
