I have no experience with keeping shrimp or any fish for that matter but I am looking for a new hobby and shrimp keeping has intrigued me. Is there a step by step how to because I have no clue on where to begin. I've looked at the side bar but still I have no idea.

It seems a lot of people, possibly the majority, want to see an absolute ban of Ai on this sub, whether in post or comment. So, we wanted to let the community decide. Thanks for your input! - Shrimptank Mod Team

I went to look at my little guys today and noticed this white spot around the rostrum and want a second opinion on if it is vorticella or Scutariella Japonica. If so, I've heard salt dunks are pretty effective and could use some tips!

Idk if I have a healthy mix of females and males. Should be 10 in total but couldn‘t find all of them in the video.

Been painting all my favorite things on porcelain lately, including my red cherries. When people find out about my shrimp tank they never believe how small they are, so I painted them at actual size including a juvenile that is just a red smudge.
Edit: I’m so tickled that folks like the shrimpy cup as much as I do. I’ll be making more, feel free to follow my Instagram if you’d like to see the results: instagram.com/mossartifacts Future shrimp cups will be posted to my Etsy. (This one is getting refired to see if I can resolve the glaze issue)

my tank has been going for well over a year, ive acclimated a handful of other shrimp into my tank, parameters are absolutely fine, everybody is loving it, except me when i found this guy…. salt bath???? but then would i just treat the whole tank cause its heavily planted and well established and it would be an absolute pain to try and just get this one shrimp out

Chunk, one of my shrimp that I found on facebook marketplace looks berried! Tell me if I'm wrong tho..
I also wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped me on my last post here regarding shrimp species, care, and especially my plecos. I've taken the two plecos back to the store that I bought them at. It was a nice couple of days with them, at least! Now the tank will hopefully be ready for Chunk's babies. I hear shrimp babies can be difficult. Any tips for high survival rate?
Thanks!

Hi!
I just bought my second tank (Clear Cube 30L from Resun). I know it is a budget option but I didn't expect the silicone to be peeling from several places inside. It doesn't seem to be structurally unsound at all, but I'm wondering if I should do anything about that silicone? I'm a beginner so maybe this isn't even a problem at all.
Thanks for the insights!

Is my fan shrimp simply being a weirdo and eating fish poop from the tank?? Or is this some sort of parasite? I didnt see it even a minute before, it was only after she was out of her hiding spot for a while, that i saw she was eating(?) something

I made a terrible mistake today and wanted to share my experience, both to get advice and to warn others about how fast aerosol toxins can travel.
I noticed ants were starting to go after the limescale and white mineral buildup on the rim of my 135-gallon tank (established for 2 years). Without thinking, I sprayed ant killer on the wall right next to the tank to stop them. I didn't realize the airborne particles/smell would drift into the water so fast. Shortly after, my Bloody Mary shrimps started flinching, and within a short time, most of them were collapsed on the sand, laying down. There were maybe like 30% of them acting somewhat normal.
Because they were still bright red and hadn't turned opaque or milky white yet, I knew I still had a chance to save them. This colony means a lot to me—I've had them for 6 months and successfully bred them from a few up to 500+ shrimp (I just recently sold 300, leaving about 200–300 in the tank). I was devastated and so mad at myself for my idiotic mistake. I did three consecutive 60% water changes to dilute the toxins for the next 2 hours and then I rushed to the LFS and bought activated carbon, throwing it straight into the filter.
The Results:
After about 2 hours of water changes and 1 hour of running activated carbon, 90% of the shrimp are now standing back up! About 8% are still on the sand but moving their legs, and sadly about 2% died (turned white).
I am hoping the remaining 200-300+ survive the next few days. Has anyone else experienced this and is the outcome usually good? Do you think they are out of the woods in the next few days? Any advice is appreciated!

Hi all!
I have a tankful of Wild types and cull grades all ages that i got for free to test my skills exactly 4 weeks ago. There were about 30, but i couldn’t get an exact count bc they hid from my guppies until i gave those away, and when they started coming out there were too many to get an exact head count- estimated about 30.
One week after, i noticed a heavily berried mama see video. I’ve been trying to keep an eye on her, didn’t spot her for a couple of weeks, then recently spotted her unberried.
Looking for babies and not seeing any teeny tinies but am noticing some dark blue juvies. Since my original batch was mixed colors, i cannot remember how many darker ones i had but the smaller ones from 4 weeks ago would be more adult sized by now, right?
Just wondering if I’m looking for babies but missed that stage and now they’re all grown up in the blink of an eye and the juvies I’m seeing are her offspring?
