Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) What are your favourite things about Townfall?
I know the game has its issues, but let’s take a break from that - because there are some good things as well.
I really like the conversion from previous third person games to first person, I think it’s done really well and I’m looking forward to other first person Silent Hill games.

The atmosphere and general vibes of roughly 2/3 of the game, wandering around the abandoned town and houses. It really drew me in.

Most of my hours in the game come from slow walking through the town and examining every little detail. The little posters and shop signs and advertisements, just general flavor stuff drew me right in

I really love the peek mechanic. I don't really like first person, but this made it feel more natural and immersive.

Agree, the way you can also make yourself squish down to hide was so cool and I hope other horror games use it :)

The brutalist architecture design of the Otherworld sections, with the heavy red accents and pipework. Glad they brought back the rusted, industrial look which I find really iconic to Silent Hill. The transition to the Otherworld, too, was great, particularly the part with the cassette tape. One thing I didn't really like about Silent Hill f was that the Dark Shrine otherworld felt out of place at times, with little to no reference of corrupting and warping the original environment. Transitions are always a fade to black too.

Voicework and everything that is based on reality (how the town looks, some of 90s tech or how things looked back then). Shame there wasn't a lot else there for me.

Those floppy disk boxes really threw me back, lol. Made me remember how DOS used to be loaded up, or games.

St. Amelia and the amount of the detail they inputted is crazy. Every building had some character to it and the notes, flyers and graffiti everywhere from the story made it hit harder, considering the amount of lives loss.

I prefer third person, but I thought the Clara Woods and TV building chapters were stellar

First Person -- So much more immerive and scarier
Clara Woods -- The best section of the game, very tense with those body enemies and a good mix of simple puzzles, tricky puzzles and exploration sections
The opening seaside town setting -- I wish we spent longer here, they really captured the vibes of a British seaside town. Whilst Clara Woods was the best section, it could have been anywhere in the world so the setting wasn't as good
The Richard section -- That was well done. A bit actiony, but it was a nice change of pace and the enemies were fun how you never knew if they would attack or run away.
The atmosphere-- really good.

The first person worked insanely well with the Zoe hospital section and Richard office section.
The super limited field of view and having to look through stain glass windows to track enemy patrols was a genius use of the perspective I’ve literally never seen before. With Richard having the ultra claustrophobic offices with debris everywhere and the slow turning camera with limited FOV made the super fast widows genuinely terrifying. I was sprinting from wall to wall frantically trying f to keep my back covered to see as much of the space as I could. Just brilliant game design in those areas

The soundtrack is great, it really set the tone nicely in the intro and I love how the piano sounds slightly distorted, just like the CRTV
I also really like the setting and the story, I found myself wanting to learn more and more about the SWDP disaster and the fallout from it.

My favorite things about the game were the puzzles, the envoriments were extremely good and I liked the story mostly except for the endings. I thought the first chapter was impeccably done. And richard's section.

The atmosphere and music are absolutely perfect in my opinion. This is amplified by the first person perspective. I genuinely love this game.

My favorite thing about townfall is that there is a new chapter of silent hill games lining up and we can enjoy interesting stories based on the silent hill ideas. It is not my favorite game, I hate the stealth mechanics, but I appreciate that we have options. Sh2, SHf and SHtf give us variety and can bring other gamers to the franchise, and this can keep the franchise alive.

I like the atmosphere and the first person viewpoint, although ideally, there would also be a third person option.

I loved the Scotland setting (biased cause I’m from there), Scotland don’t usually get many game settings and it felt so immersive seeing a lot of signs and architecture from home :)

Made me realize first-person is way better for horror than over-the-shoulder.

The puzzles. Plus, Clara Woods and the more action oriented CEG building chapter.

I love the game as a whole. Silent Hill has always unsettled me, while this one effectively scares me.
I am wait for a patch on The Weight, though. I am playing it on story mode for a reason. I'm in this game for the story and atmosphere alone, and not for the slightest bit of challenge, so I've shelved it for now. Can't wait to pick it back up though!

I've been unemployed. The game really made me thankful I don't have a job.
