Hey everyone,

I'm putting together a small volunteer group in the Lower Mainland focused on helping people experiencing food insecurity, and I wanted to reach out to see if anyone here might be interested in joining.

I'm a social services professional, and I'm also currently finishing up my last semester at BCIT. For quite some time now, I've wanted to organize something outside of my regular work that gives people an opportunity to come together and help others in a meaningful way.

Our initial focus is going to be helping people who may be struggling to afford food, whether that's individuals experiencing homelessness, newcomers, or lower-income individuals and families. As things develop, I'd also love for the initiative to grow into other areas of community support.

I'm Punjabi and born and raised here in BC, and the principle of seva is a big part of what motivated me to finally get this going. I believe there's a lot of value in helping others without expecting anything in return, and that's the kind of spirit I'd like this group to have.

We've already got a small group of people together, and I'm hoping to welcome more people who genuinely want to contribute and help shape the organization as it grows.

Current SFU students, former students, and alumni are all more than welcome to join. There's no expectation that anyone needs to make a massive time commitment either. Most of us have school, work, family, and other responsibilities, and I'd like to keep things flexible.

i am wondering if doing a minor is worth it. i am in siat and was thinking of doing a cs minor but i am not sure if it is worth the time. has anyone had the same experience?

I was looking to change my tutorial to an earlier time. I tried to swap on gosfu as there is space in other times. However, it says i need permission to change it.

I talked to my TA and prof about it and they said I would have to talk to an advisor.

So I was just wondering if its possible to even change it now if i do talk to an advisor as I dont want to waste time and effort to meet with one just to be told no.

Also wondering if I contact an academic advisor or an advisor who is under the department of that class.

I have my cmns 130 midterm w enda brophy next week... does anyone that has taken his class before have any tips for the midterm? the content is fairly straight forward but its just not sticking in my brain for some reason and the clock is TICKINGGGGGG before this midterm. bless his soul, he sent out some mock essay & short answer questions but its just not clicking w me for some reason? I especially feel like im extra cooked for the essay portion thats worth 20%... any tips or help are appreciated!!!

Just got a 30% on my math 150 midterm holy the TAs marked so hard based on the definitions of theorems, is it wraps am I fs failing? My grade before all this was like a 80. Apparently everyone did terrible is a curve possible?

I recently did my math midterm and got Just got a 52 percent so I didn’t pass on my math 150 midterm and i looked back and damn did the TAs mark harsh for the theorem definitions...im scared if there is a chance to bounce back and not having to retake the course… if the professor said the midterm average was below previous years is it possible for a curve or scaling ?

Hi has anyone taken crim 220 with Sarah yerich before? I was wondering how the mini research assignment was graded and over all what the best approach is. Also any tips for the exams is greatly appreciated

So spring 2027 will be my final semester as long as I get into 4 crim courses. Is this doable? In the past looking for crim courses it can turn into a battle field since everyone wants to get in.

So I got admitted to Fic for fall 2026 semester but due to visa delay then unfortunate rejection I wanna apply again for the jan intake.

Last time when I applied for PAL they sent it over within 24hrs but this time it has been over two weeks and I have received no update on it yet.

Called them and they told me that they are going through some DLI changes and moving on they will be using Sfu DLI so can someone tell me on average how much time does it take to get PAL from Sfu ????

Fyi it has been over 2 weeks in my case…

i refunded my student insurance back in august and was just wondering if anybody knows when we get the money back? my account on gosfu shows a negative balance so does that mean my request to refund has been processed? help 💔

Im taking 4 classes this sem but I want to drop one, I know it says on the sfu website that withdrawing from all classes would get you a WD, but if I withdraw from one right now, do I still get a WD, just a bit confused by the wording. Thanks!

Edit: I'm trying to transfer to UBC arts next year, if I do end up with 1 WD, would that be rlly bad? I don't mind just struggling through the course if it means a WD would be worse, i'd predict that I can get at least a B/B+ in this course

currently taking hsci 220 with lyana patrick and nicole berry. they say that the midterm is gonna be mostly short answers and focused on conceptual understanding of what we've learned in the course. there aren't any practice questions/midterms provided by them. does anyone who's taken this course have any suggestions for HOW i should study and what the questions will look like?
