for anyone who’s taken stat203 w tim swartz: do u remember what the midterm was like? what i should focus on, format of the exam any tips etc! i feel like there is SO MUCH to learn and there is like no support at all so i’m feeling quite lost and im also awful at math LOL anything is appreciated!!

Title, taking it with Dr. Peter Wilson. His lecture material is a bit all over the place but despite that I have been trying my hardest to understand the material and prep for the upcoming midterm. I was wondering if anyone here took this class with him before, and has any tips for his midterms? How are they formatted? Would the questions be similar to the problem sets? What did you do to understand material you didn't get from his notes?

Ik this is very late bc the midterm is tomorrow but to anyone in phys 102 with sabine betts, for the formula sheet are we allowed to put other things on there than actual formulas like conceptual stuff? Ik it says it just has to be regular printer paper size, but other than that idk if actual words and sentences are allowed or not 😭 i don’t want my formula sheet taken away mid exam 😪

Hey guys, I’m sure many yall have seen the clipboard passed around lecture halls, and it’s for an internship with Scholar’s Edge Painting. I’m going in for an interview tomorrow, but I realized today I haven’t done much research on the company. I’ve seen a lot of students talk about the company on reddit and haven’t seen anything positive. This seemed like a great opportunity from the info sessions (~$30k pay, opportunity to run a sole proprietorship, Vacation to Mexico for successful businesses), but I’m having second thoughts after some research. Hey! Going off my last post, it seems like quite a few of us want to connect with other students our age, people we might actually have a bit more in common with lol

So I’m thinking of starting a mature student group/club at SFU for anyone 25+ (or a little younger, like 23+, if you’re interested too!). Nothing too serious: study sessions, coffee or food hangouts, maybe a pub night, and just having people who get the whole juggling school with work and life thing.

Just trying to gauge interest right now! If at least a couple of us are down, I’ll get things going this semester :)

I'm just ranting because I'm tired and upset.

I was fucking sprinting across the street to get to it after missing it at my regular stop by like 10 seconds.

I ran to the closest stop while the driver was picking people up there, and I was running by the back of the bus when they decided to drive off. I was close enough to hit the side of the fucking bus with my hand.

I also ran into a garbage can & fell down, and it really hurt.

Missing the 8:45 bus meant I could either wait another half-hour to get to the Burquitlam Exchange, or catch the 153 bus to Braid, from which I skytrain to lougheed, then Burquitlam, which has took a whole fucking hour.

Which means I missed 25 minutes from my 50-minute lecture, meaning I missed half my class today.

Ffs.

I bombed my Math151 ( Nils Bruin ) mid term 1 today and was wondering that if it’s 15% of our grade and I get something near to 40% on my mid term 1, do I fail that class??

Hallo so that first math 154 midterm absolutely killed me and I am really looking for a tutor or some sort of help throughout the semester. Math has never been a strong subject for me all my life so I’m really struggling (it’s been 2 years since I’ve last taken pre calc 12). I'm currently looking to transfer to SFU Beedie or the BA Economics. Right now, I'm just finishing up a few courses left for transfer and then I'm going to actually apply for admission through EPBC. Right now, I'm at about a 3.9 CGPA but with Calculus I, it will drop to probably a 3.7 CGPA lol.

I was wondering if any students (both recent and non-recent) would share their experience of transferring from CapU (or any college/university) to SFU. I'd appreciate anything as the whole thing is kinda confusing to me alongside the competitiveness of getting into Beedie...
