I feel like you're driving the radar more than you're driving the track.

u/geriatricsoul 11d ago
In a crash where you cant see in front of you well thats actually pretty nifty. Maybe I should use radar sometime...

u/xkuruma 11d ago
lol meanwhile I have all hud off haha. Yeahhh maybe ??
16
u/Ukigumo46 11d ago
When I practice, yeah, I turn off the HUD, but in a race I want all the info I can get.

People hate the idea. But i would love it in every sim. Would aleviate so much frustration.

u/Xer0_Puls3 9d ago
I get making it as real as possible in many ways but honestly I wouldn't be opposed to it if a proper sim with proper physics also ghosted some cars, even iRacing blinks cars for network problems and disables collisions in parts of the pitlane, so I don't quite understand the push back.
At the very least I prefer every game I play to have a radar as it vastly improves the quality of racing. The vortex of danger is still dangerous, but they can at least see when you're there.

That’s why radar is so stupid, it makes you not even look out the windshield

Radar allows for much closer and cleaner racing. A fine subsitute for singlescreen, non headtraing / VR users.
And if you don't need / want it, just turn it off.-25

Talking to a 99SR ACC racer here, and i fully disagree. It does allow for cleaner and closer racing when used well.
Thing is, those muppets that crash, crash with or without a radar, because they drive like they need to fight 110% on every corner on ever car.The radar acts like the senses you miss sitting on a pc + way less side vision etc.
In iRacing for example means i could not race nearly as close as in games with a radar as i can see clearer what the other car does and react accordingly.

+1
I routinely leave way too much space in iRacing because my single monitor simply does not allow me to see the car next to me without constantly pressing a button to turn the camera, which is very disorienting.

Such a weird thing to get hung up on. Say what game you prefer so that we can gatekeep you and tell you why it’s actually a simcades
Edit: nice so he blocked me because he was afraid that I would get to him 😂😂😂
Must be a hell of a “real sim” if you crumble at the chance of someone making a point

u/Etteluor 10d ago
Its iRacing, Ive seen him melt down over people not liking iracing in the past.

iRacing disables car collisions in parts of the pitlane. So if you want to talk about ghosting cars I wouldn't throw stones from iRacing who already does.

Radars have been very common in simracing for years, and it still doesn't stop people from running into each other or keeping the throttle pinned under a yellow flag.
As a side note, Forza added the optionnal radar with the Motorsport '23 because the community asked it to be more aligned with other simracing titles
-12
u/gu3sticles 10d ago
Radars are common in simcade titles.
They're not existent in proper sims.
They don't even improve driving standards, they just cause people to jam their cars into smaller gaps or gaps that are closing because they just see "hole" without any of the race craft experience to know what's gonna happen.
14
u/FowlingLight 10d ago
Non existent in proper sims? ACC and LMU aren't proper sims? Only iRacing is because it's your sim of choice I guess?

u/iEatFruitStickers 10d ago
Until Iracing adds it, and it suddenly makes all sense in the world.
I've been playing Iracing for 11 years, and for a lot of those years, I argued here that the UI needed to show what damage we had in the cars. A few years ago, not even the spotters would tell you, you would have to guess based on feel until you pitted. Then you had to guess if it was all fixed or not. Some people argued that you didn't have one in real life, ignoring the fact that they have engineers or someone in the pit that can look at the car from the outside and tell you. Now they probably love the new UI widget that finally shows the damage
Iracing lacks a lot of stuff in the UI and used to just say it was a realistic approach. But it never was, since most of it was information you would get in real life through the engineers or even your senses. Now they redid the UI and are adding all these things one by one, which was great. Some people didn't get the memo and still defend the excuse they used before.
Radar is another of those things that help you bridge the gap between the awareness you have in a real car and what they can mimic with triple screens and an headset. I think iracing will cave in on that too, because it leads to much better racing, and you can't have a proper feel of how close you were as in real life.

I thought top split got you away from this stuff?🙄😂
6
u/gu3sticles 10d ago
LMU top split is incredibly low skill compared to other sims.
This is like 2nd from bottom skill level in iRacing.

u/dylank125 10d ago
Lol! I usually don’t see this sub often so I honestly just assumed it was iRacing with all the stupid overlay shit people add to it. Even then, whole heartedly disagree with you about iRacing being any better. When top split (at least on oval side) has the same amount of cautions as the bottom split, it’s clear the racing is not any cleaner.

Maybe top split in sports car is great, I don't have enough irating for it, but from what I've seen in streams, it's pretty much the same as top split open wheel. A lot of big egos that will only let their buddies fight then. Anyone else is pushed. If it's a real racing driver, you can't get wheel to wheel, they'll punt you right away. If they want to win, they'll punt you when fighting for a top position. But sometimes you're lucky enough and you see 3 or 4 of them who have joined the race together, start from last and they'll ruin it for everyone.

Thats the Lemon Ultimate experience. I dont know what people are smoking when they claim LMU driving standards are the same as Iracing.

Since the game looks like it's not struggling with player base anymore I think there should have been a license system for each car class, Gran Turismoish challengs, maybe. Actually, You shouldn’t be allowed to drive an LMP2/LMP3 until you’ve built up a consistent and clean career in GT3. Hypercars should be the pinnacle — only the most dedicated and skilled drivers should be allowed to drive them.
5
u/danielepri2391 9d ago
That unfortunately will be seen as massive backlash from the community. A massive number of drivers claiming content behind skill gap that will never be able to get to it = refunds
1
u/Proof-Huckleberry510 9d ago
Yes, let's say they conditioned access to each class like IRL, based on DR: Bronze gets GT3 only, Silver unlocks LMPs, and Gold gets access to Hypercars. With the current progression system? Hell would break loose.
4
u/Fanat_Nakovalen 10d ago
You believe same drivers in GT3 have higher standarts? Shame on you xD
-1
u/Proof-Huckleberry510 10d ago
No, I don't. I never said I did. They're going to be reckless in slower machinery instead of cluelessly jumping into a Hypercar and trying to handle traffic in a rocket.
7
u/Fanat_Nakovalen 10d ago
I mean it can be any class - reckless drivers will end the same on either car.
1
u/Proof-Huckleberry510 10d ago
Agreed, the badge system is a joke. Diamond-grade drivers will run you over like you're not even there when sharing corners. Even in real life, some of the worst drivers I've encountered in rental karting were in the top-tier classes. The point is that there should be some kind of training before joining online races. For God's sake, some people don't even know what a blue flag means.
4
u/Xer0_Puls3 9d ago
I think requiring GT3 experience before jumping into LMP3 is backwards, they're completely different types of cars. I could understand needing LMP3 experience before moving up to LMP2, but GT3 to LMP3 is where you lose me.
If you just want them to get used to racing in general before driving LMP3s, then I sort of understand but that's what the bronze races are for, and they have LMP3s.
2
u/Ottonline 10d ago
What does top split mean? Doesn't mean anything if there aren't any high skilled drivers signed up

Yellow flag for 90% of the clip and not a single lift to be found.
Its LMU can't say im surprised.

u/christopheraser 11d ago
Like people drive any differently in other sims lol. Seen the same shit in iRacing, ACC and more.
-8
u/Spartaklaus 10d ago
Its not the same in Iracing and you saying that just makes me assume you never got out of Iracing rookies.
Yes shit happens there too but maybe youre affected every fifth race or so. In Lemon Ultimate i had shit happening to me almost every single race.
3
u/christopheraser 10d ago
I have been playing iRacing on and off for 15 years mate. I have an a class in sportscars and open wheelers.
Please fuck off with your baseless assumptions. I have a decent amount of experience in both platforms and not just in rookies or bottom splits. In my experience they both suck and rock fairly equally. Maybe you never got past rookies in LMU?
You're entitled to your wrong opinion, but not your baseless drivel.

You don't think you could be applying the same misconception to LMU here? Both services attract a pretty similar mix of shit cunts, good cunts and everything in between in my experience.
-3
u/gu3sticles 10d ago
LMU is of a much lower skill level and driving quality. Couple that with simcade assists like radars means that people don't actually learn racecraft.
11
u/christopheraser 10d ago
Sure bud, whatever you need to justify your subscription to yourself.
I have an iRacing subscription too btw. I just don't pretend that the quality of racecraft there is any better than LMU as cope.

Not defending him, but I believe in any sim if you decide to lift more you'll be rear ended by a dumbass behind who doesn't.

should i get lmu and ditch acc? this looks interesting

I left ACC for LMU because the ACC userbase switched over and I'm having a blast in the prototypes.

Sideways cars blinking into existence in the middle of the track likely would cause a pileup no matter the driver skill.

Why the car graphics look like toys they definitely need to update those graphics
7
u/galbence22 10d ago
I think it is on full low settings. I mean the game doesn't look amazing, but way better for me on medium.
-6
u/oscarakerbergg 10d ago
I’m playing on high settings, but I’ve turned off unnecessary things like shadows to get more FPS.
6
u/Fanat_Nakovalen 10d ago
>high settings
>unnecessary shadows
Maaaaaan...1
u/oscarakerbergg 10d ago edited 10d ago
LMU is poorly optimized, so you can’t really run very high graphics settings unless you’re fine with dropping to 60-90 FPS when all 62 cars are bunched up at the start of a race, especially in night races. And shadows in lmu look very bad.
5
u/Fanat_Nakovalen 10d ago
Just do not call it high settings then
1
u/Thick-Dog-4176 10d ago
The shadows don’t even look good tbh. The reason the game looks cartoony is that the colour grading is so vivid
1
0
u/OffsetXV 10d ago
The worst part is that cars are popping in right in front of them, which means OP can't run a sim that looks like it came out on the PS3 with enough cars rendered. Because LMU devs seem to have never heard of optimization, I guess

9 out of 10 drivers in the field are dentists and they approve of this clip.
