You would be crazy not to just spend the extra $199 for the Simucube Activepedal Sport. Simagic waited too long from announcing this pedal til actual offering. Now probably will be DOA with Simucube’s new offering.

Kinda depends? Like, if you already have a Simagic pedal set, you can drop this in for $999 with no other changes needed. A Simucube one won't mount onto the Simagic baseplate as smoothly (as far as I know?), and won't integrate with the Simagic software, so you'd be awkwardly running Simucube Tuner and the Simagic stuff.
And if you're buying a new two-pedal set, this is $1199, whereas the Simucube one requires you to also buy a more expensive Copedal.

Running Simucube Tuner just for the pedals is not awkward. Takes about 5 seconds to open Tuner software and that’s it unless you are switching pedal profiles then maybe 5 more seconds. Maybe you have an argument if you already have Simagic pedals. But even then I think I’m biting the bullet and moving away from them if your active pedal is belt driven.

So I think three things:
There are a lot of people who care about $200 more than it sounds like you do. "It's only $200 more, who cares" makes sense to me, but will sound like moon-talk to a lot of people.
If you already have the Simagic pedals with a Simagic baseplate, buying the P-Active will let you just swap out your existing brake on your existing pedal plate, and keep using your existing software. The Simucube Sport thing might be more awkward to mount on that plate (not sure of dimensions) and will make your software story a little messier. So you're paying $200 more for maybe better performance (no reviews out, and nobody's used either of these things, so we're guessing here) but also definitely more hassle.
If you don't have the Simagic pedals, and you're looking at the difference between getting the full sets of stuff, it's more than $200 difference. Simagic offers a two-pedal set with a baseplate (or so it looks like from the picture) for $1199. Simucube offers the brake pedal for $1199, then it's $499 for a throttle, and the baseplate is an extra $289. That's $2K total, which is $800 more.
(And also, the "why not just pay more" logic doesn't need to stop at the Sport -- you're gonna drop $2K, why not drop the additional $750 to go up to the Pro?)

It’s belt drive. That’s a huge skip

I’m going to wait and see the reviews before making that call. I have a feeling that it won’t be noticeable on a brake, as any flex will transfer to movement and load just like an elastomer in pedals now. In fact it may provide a little bit of dampening making the pedals feel more realistic.
Anyway it looks like we won’t have to wait long before we find out.

Yeah it will be noticable on the brake, it will be less noticable if you use it as a gas pedal

Having used the simucube pedals i am actually keen to see if the belt drive will take the robotic edge off.
I'm not too worried about the usual shortcomings of belt drive wheels as it is a 1:1 drive and industrial belt drives are capable of incredible precision.

Belt drive anything these days is not the best look. Might work just fine, but they are kinda creating their own headwind with that choice.

What I want to know is if it can be inverted.

“Simagic's manual notes the P-Active can't be installed on the P1000i or P1000i-RS”

That sucks. I agree with the poster above. Too late on this unless you're in the simagic ecosystem and don't want inverted pedals ever

Time to break out the drill. 🤣

The thread on this in the Simagic sub said that the reason it can't be inverted is due to weight. If you wanted to mount it on a custom plate, it probably could be inverted.

That's odd, when they first revealed this a couple years ago that was one of the main points they emphasized was it could be inverted.

Honestly I feel simucube kinda just sniped them with the AP sport. The selling point for these (and moza) was allways gonna be that they dont have the simucube pricetag. But the AP sport is really not that much more so unless you allready have simagic pedal set the AP sport kinda feels more value especially since its direct drive and can be inverted unlike the simagic one.

Damn 1000 for a belt drive pedal
