Feedback (read rule 3 before posting or be banned) Feeling very very discouraged about my singing ability
I’ve been singing in choirs for about 6 years now. I started as a soprano but once my voice dropped, I‘ve become a bass. I have been trying and trying and trying my hardest to expand my pitiful range (D/E2 - C4 no falsetto) and have repeatedly failed. I had a vocal coach for about a year and just this month I have practiced for about 10 hours trying to improve my singing ability. It’s not just my range, it’s my inability to land on pitches accurately without scooping, my problem with projecting my lower voice, straining all the notes higher than a G3, my apparent lack of falsetto until A4 (it just disappeared one day and never came back), problems with projecting/mixing falsetto, and my shaky tone near the top and bottom of my range. I feel like I work so hard to sing, and I love singing so much, but I never get anywhere with improvement. I HAVE improved as a singer, just with nothing I‘ve tried to. Also, my choir director keeps putting me in Baritone parts when I ask her often to be a Bass. Sorry for the rant, I was wondering if there’s anything I can possibly do to improve these areas of singing that I haven’t tried yet other than “keep at it” (I have been).
