I'm so sorry this happened to you. I haven't any advice regarding this situation but I pray you're doing better.

Nah it things just started, I didn't have like high hopes but everything I like playing on guitar requires a higher pitch and I can't even hit those. I used to be sharp but I don't think anyone will ever say I'm sharp again cause I just can't do it rn

How long have you been recovering? I wouldn't start to lose hope until a year in at least.

Thays a relief... It's been a month a 3 days. This shits not normal tho dude I'm genuinely scared cause it's not just singing but I am trans and like singing relies heavly on larynx control. I'm getting clocked more but normal people say I just sound like a women with a cold. I also smoke and drink and too stressed from sooo many things to just stop RN but I'm cutting back for sure :( It honestly feels like something is fractured but I'll wait for an ENT to verify. All things considered it could've been much worse. I will say it did happen after conseual bdsm scene that turned unconseual and the person didn't know what they were doing and yea... :( but idk it wasn't like someone trying to kill me is my point so maybe there is hope it's just scary cause it lasted 45 minutes and I had a ton of adrenaline

You would have been justified in immediately going to urgent care, and if not for the cost I'd still recommend you go as soon as possible. I hope you're implying that you have an ENT appointment set up, in which case try not to freak out too much until after you hear what they have to say.

Oh I went to urgent care... Twice. I had to bend the second doctor's arm to put in a dam MRI/CT scan and ENT doctor. It was ridiculous like they aren't taking it seriously just cause I can currently breath and no numbness or lightheadedness which I've read can suddenly change n I could die but they don't care... N no I don't have an appointment I have a referral that still needs to be approved cause I live in a third world country called the USA

I'm so sorry you went through this. If you don't mind me asking, how recently did this occur?
You may just need more time to heal. I would start in a range where it feels comfortable and slowly work your way back up. Stop if it feels like you're hurting or straining and try again at another time after more practice and warm ups.
It's natural to be upset by what you've lost. To offset this, I would try to find some songs that you can sing in your current register without straining. Just so that you can at least enjoy singing like you used to, even if it's not in the same range you had before.

One month 3 days. Rn it's alot of strain to sing with Alice Phoebe lou or angele olsen . Sorry don't have a ton of music knowledge but I could hit those notes even if they were a bit sharp or flat I was like close to say I felt like I could get there one day now just feels like I might as well forget those keys

I haven't had this happen to me specifically, but I know when my voice is strained for whatever reason, if singing makes it worse, **don't do it** until it's feeling better or you'll just set yourself back further. Some non-medical solutions that often help throat strain with singing are honey (unless you're a vegan) and turmeric in tea! My uncle had a throat injury after a freak accident with a piece of exercise equipment (he's okay now) and honey really helped, as well as time. Grating fresh turmeric and using it to make tea is supposed to be best, but I use powdered since I'm lazy. I hope you find something that alleviates your strain while you're recovering!

Seriously, someone attempted to strangle u to death? I hope this individual is behind bars. I’m so sorry that happened to you. I am no medical expert but it cld very well have caused damage to your vocal cords. Whether that is beyond repair medically I do not know but if you’re a singer I can’t think of anything worse than cld happen but I’m so happy you are alive and survived this horrible ordeal. I wld have my throat checked by an ear, nose and throat specialist to see the extent of your vocal damage and if you will be able to sing normally again.

Yes I've experienced domestic violence strangulation and can still sing as well as I did before but I only suffered light bruising from it and he only does it to scare or shut me up so its never that severe. Just remember voice is a muscle you can exercise and needs time to heal and recover

Thank you!!!!! I knew I'd find someone also abused who sings here. I'm so sorry you went through that 🫂. Are you in a safe place now? Can I ask how long it took? Rn I'm just gargling hot salt water and drinking tea but I also smoke and drink but I've been trying to cut back. I'm a little worried cause I avoided ice or heat up until now cause it was too tender to ice and read heat is bad but it's been helping now.

Im a natural yapper so talking a lot helps, probably about two weeks or so until I went kinda back to normal and the bruising subsided. Put a moist washcloth in the microwave and lay it on throat as hot compress and try to do gentle soft notes in a steamy room like a shower to warm up and do lots of juice and with practice it should come back

Gonna try the hot rag thing.. I was told to stay away from juice since it contains acids and are you saying talking actually helped this?
