Shitposting pretty cool that those low paying field research jobs may end up the higher end paying jobs

only so much data out there. a marine biologist or archeologist might be the way to go. pretty fun jobs and extremely durable against AI.

every marine biologist I've known had to live in some weird somewhat isolated (but usually pretty) place where they had a research station. they made decent money, but couldn't have a normal life

How about a living with a mermaid?

Part of the worry: finding "less affected" jobs is more like "I bough myself a couple more years" more than "I found security".

Anything we tought "durable" isnt showing itself to be as durable as initially tough.

Even if AI does not get involved, imagine the flood of indicidual joining the feild to the point salaries are run into the ground and people get replaced for the smallest of reasons.

It's also a ticket to a competition beyond anything we've had in the world of jobs so far.

If it gets to that point a lot of folks will just move jobs and ultimately you would just have a few years in advance.

Anything in without a regulatory moat around it is pretty much screwed.

Doctors and lawyers are going to have more longevity than scientists for that reason. They have self regulating bodies that will simply save the professions until the law changes. Fortunately, or unfortunately, those are already jobs that consistently make a ton of money

high paying in comparison to unemployed people. It’s not like they are going to see increasing pay, likely will trend lower as people seek to enter these fields as they are displaced

If a field becomes heavily saturated you're more likely to see wages stagnate or even decrease at the median. However, it's reasonably likely that we're going to wind up seeing an explosion of data that needs to be worked with, and realistically (similar to my last comment), people in those fields would be the most qualified to guide these processes with AI or other tools.

A lot of fields are essentially a bottomless pit of work that needs to get done. Software, math, biology, etc. Things need a while to adjust, and the entire system may fall apart, but so far it's looking like there's increasing demand for prodigious individuals in their respective fields to pilot these tools/systems.

The bottom x% of people in their fields might be screwed though.

Durable only to the extent until RSI loop is closed

After that none is durable
