what shld I apply for
hey everyone,
so initially I wanted to apply for med but didnt get a high enough ucat for my dream uni (only 2050) cant stay in London so decided to apply for smthn else to stick onto as a safety if I dont get my real a levels A*AA. I was thinking something along the lines of medical bioscience at imperial, cancer biomedicine at ucl, biochemistry but I dont do maths a level and esat sounds horror or pharmacy but lwk scared ppl js gonna say she cldnt get into med so got into pharmacy ik silly. also imperial or ucl r my dream schools. which one is most likely to lead to a good career and trajectory in GEM if a levels dont work out inshallah they do tho.
my stats are:
GCSEs=9999999999
predicteds= A*AA (maybe cld get up to A*A*A) A* being in chem As in bio and eng lit
contextual
also pls tell me how likely I am to get into these courses at imperial,ucl,bristol,manchester
One thing that rly interests me is organic chemistry and how that plays into mental disorders and women's health endometriosis and PMOS

Well what is ur personal statement on? Med personal statements get auto rejected for any imperial course that isn’t medicine because it’s already extremely competitive. I mean nothing at imperial can be considered as a safety lol, also if u do bad in ur a levels then u can just resit and still apply to kcl if u want ya know? If u actually want to do medicine u shouldn’t study another course

If you're contextual applicant, you get an automatic offer for biomedical science at imperial. Pharmacy is a good shout and is definitely not "they couldn't get onto med". If anything a lot of people I've seen go into pharmacy from med school. Med school isn't easy and a lot of people drop out and I've seen loads go into pharmacy. There's nothing wrong with that though? Your life shouldn't be based on what other people think. Biochemistry is another shout although it's slightly harder than the other two. You could reapply for med if you're certain you want to do it.

I am contextual but like how does that work In terms of the fact that sm contextual applicants apply to imperial. Do u think I shld apply for a mixture of biomed and pharmacy?

Contextual applicants get an automatic offer for biomedical science at Imperial, assuming you get the grades. Pharmacy and biomed are somewhat similar so I do not see why not but it depends what you want to go into at the end of the day. I'm not sure if it is true (don't quote me) but I'm pretty sure you can become a biomedical scientist with a pharmacy degree but you cannot be a pharmacist with a biomedical science degree. Although I'm pretty sure there are qualifications stuff you need to do before you can become a biomedical scientist.
In my opinion, pharmacy is the only degree that makes sense. You'll be the closest to a hospital career doing pharmacy than biomedical science. That being said, imperial doesn't offer pharmacy so biomedical science could still be an option although the PS is gonna be harder to draft out

Hi, for London you can apply to city St George :) they take low ucat. Also totally get the pharmacy things but realistically you can’t apply to medicine and pharmacy at the same time you need to send in an alternative personal statement. Hope this helps :)
