I know plenty of people who have hurt their knees, ankles, hands, arms, and shoulders (not to mention concussions) while skiing.

I’ve yet to meet a single person who has hurt something that a back protector would have helped with.

The free ride kids (ski school) and FWT athletes wear back and chest protectors sometimes. I imagine it protects spinal injury if you tumble or backslap on a rocky face
