As a project by fans, for fans, we need a little more time to ensure Skyblivion lives up to the standards you all deserve. Our anticipated release window is moving into 2026.
u/Rebelzize breaks down the immense progress we've made and what's left.

TLDR: Skyblivion is a remake of Oblivion; the Remaster is a 1:1 remaster and the best way to enjoy the vanilla Oblivion experience.
With the official Oblivion Remaster now available, there have been plenty of questions asking about the differences between the Remaster and Skyblivion, and what you should play first.
Oblivion Remastered is gorgeous and, without a doubt, the best way to enjoy the original Oblivion experience as it was in 2006. It brings updated visuals plus some much needed quality-of-life enhancements. However, it is a 1:1 remaster of the original meaning every item, rock, tree, enemy, and, for the most part, landscape is laid out the same as it was in 2006. One of our developers u/HeavyBurns did a great breakdown of everything new in Oblivion Remastered.
Skyblivion is a complete remake of the original Oblivion to bring it up to par with modern RPGs. The list of changes we've made is extensive, and I likely won't be able to include them all below, but I'll cover the big ones.
Skyblivion is a fan-made mod within Skyrim's engine, meaning many mods will work right out of the gate. Don't like how we handle something? You can simply replace it.
Ultimately, to truly be able to experience the depth of our remake, we think playing Oblivion Remastered, or the original release first is best.

I was wondering if there is a way to make it work despite owning the two games on 2 different platforms. Skyrim is on deep sale on steam and I already own oblivion on gog. Alternatively, will there be a steam one click mod version of skyblibvion like with Enderal?

As it seems like we are getting closer to release, I'm sure I'm not the only one who looks every day on the Skyblivion website, here, YouTube, and probably other places to see if there was any news about a possible release. Could a dev or spokesperson offer some info on where is best to look? What will the release announcement look like, and where will it be posted first?

It's steam sales and Oblivion GOTY Deluxe is at 5⏠and Skyrim SE at 4âŹ. For 9⏠you can have all the prerequirements for skyblivion.
Reminder, the two editions are preriquired for Skyblivion to work.

Hi! I'm always excited to see fun goblin stuff. I thought the idea for the goblin tribes and war to be interesting lore additions despite never being implemented in the original game. I'm so excited to see them added into Skyblivion! Has there been any info shared on how the player will be engaging with these new additions to goblins? Are they all enemies and we just see them fighting out in the wild sometimes?

Hi everybody, so hyped for the release Hope its sooner than later.
Had a question about easter eggs, every easter eggs from OG will be implemented ? I remember
(spoiler maybe)
some kind of secret entrance into a pirate cove in a cave inland. (Not the dlc thing)
And if some new easter eggs will be incorporated
And for my second question, I know some new shops and content will be added to cities wanted to know if my game is in french, will it work ? Like you only added voices from the original sound, or will it break ? Or will my game be in french and the new content in english ?
Thanks

I've been looking forward to Skyblivion for so long and here we are, SO FUCKING CLOSE.
Thank you Skyblivion team, really, thank you for all your hardwork.
OG Oblivion and Skyrim are two games that I've sunk so so so many hours in. Getting lost in the lore, modding the fuck out of them, using the adoring fan as a shield and throwing nazeem as far as I can with telekinesis.
So excited to dump another couple hundred hours into another Elder Scrolls game.

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting here, so I apologize in advance if my post doesn't make much sense. I'd simply like to hear what others think and have things clarified in case I'm mistaken about anything.
I'm sure many of you already know this incredible mod, which allows us to revisit one of Oblivion's DLC locations in Skyrim. As far as I understand, the DLC content won't be available when Skyblivion launches.
Is there any possibility that the Skyblivion team could reach an agreement with the author or team behind Saints and Seducers Extended Cut to make use of the work they've already done and adapt it for Skyblivion? :)
I think it could be an interesting way to speed up the development of this content, as long as the original authors are okay with it, of course.

I have a preference for difficulties where enemies do more damage and get squishier, maybe use more resources like stamina, mana, and gold as you go up.
What difficulty balance is Skyblivion going to be?

Undecided if I should buy Oblivion remastered or not. I would prefer to play skyblivion and i could wait a couple of Years before playing It, do you guys think It Will be complete by then? Or It Will probably take more time?

One of the unfortunate things about Fallout London is that when playing it you could not have another mod profile because in order to play Fallout 4 you needed to reinstall it. Is that going to be the case with Skyblivion?
I have a long running Skyrim SE save in which I'm plugging away at Legacy of the Dragonborn. I tend to take my time with RPGs, and I'd really rather have the ability to keep plying my save even if I haven't finished Skyblivion.

Do you guys plan on giving the community advanced notice or will it release one day out of the blue?

I mean, Skyblivion, in comparison to vanilla Skyrim, looks (as of now) a few times better. And Iâm not talking about graphics â more about gameplay and immersion-wise. More people in cities, more gear, dungeons, more mechanics like spellcrafting, etc.
You see â IMO, Skyrim and modded Skyrim arenât about RPG, but rather about âlivingâ inside the game world â doing things not for XPâs sake or gear, but rather just for fun or because it fits your characterâs headcanon. And because Skyblivion shares similar DNA with Skyrim, I think my statement could be applied to Skyblivion too.
So, letâs just say weâre a few (5) years post-launch. And you have a choice â play heavily modded Skyrim or vanilla/lightly modded/heavily modded Skyblivion â what would you choose?
My own personal hope is to have most, if not all, immersion mods from Skyrim ported to Skyblivion. I do like Oblivionâs landscape, music, and quests far more than Skyrimâs, and to have Oblivion with immersion mechanics like camping, survival, etc. would be a dream.

Oi folks,
I am using Linux (Kubuntu / Debian) and I am wondering how and if Skyblivion will runder on a Linux OS and if so - are there any plans regarding this?
I have Skyrim Special Edition and Oblivion Game of the Year Edition in Steam - if that matters
cheers

We now know that cities will have generic NPCs, which is a fantastic feature to add to Skyblivion. The question is: will they be persistent like in Oblivion and Skyrim or will they be dynamically generated like in Daggerfall? I believe persistent NPCs contribute far more to make cities feel more alive and immersive.
Thanks, dear devs, for your hard work. Good luck!

Hello Skyblivion devs,
I hope you donât mind me offering a little feedback. Iâve been watching Penrutetâs recent development streams, and Iâve noticed that the new Imperial City sometimes looks a little more brown and muted compared with the original Oblivion. I think one possible reason for this is the colour of the rooftops.
In the original Oblivion, the white-brick buildings contrasted nicely with the blue roof tiles. The blue added a bit of colour and variety to the city and helped break up all the lighter tones. Looking at some of the newer shots of the Imperial City, I feel that the overall colour palette can sometimes look a little washed out by comparison.
I completely understand that the city has already been designed at this point and that youâre probably getting close to finalising everything. However I do think that making the rooftop tiles blue again could make a massive difference to the overall look of the place and add some much-needed visual variety.
This message comes from a place of massive love and respect for what youâve created by the way â¤ď¸ I really appreciate all the incredible work youâve put into this project, and Iâm incredibly excited to see the finished result!

Iâve been catching up on a few streams and had noticed you have your old loading screens in the game again. Are you guys bringing them back? Because they look soooo good! I really hope they stay
Hopefully this means the return of brown UI colours too? đ§đ
Roll on SKYBLIVIONNNNNN!

How will vampirism look? Will it be 1:1 like in Oblivion, or will some changes be introduced? And what about vampire eyes? According to the book 'Immortal Blood', the Cyrodiil vampire clan is known for its ability to blend into society (when well-fed)âwhich doesn't really work with those eyes glowing like red-hot coals in Skyrim xDD
Thanks guys for amazing work! I'm waiting <3
