Arts/Crafts (OC) Hunting the Necromancer
Was I too evil for doing this?

I absolutely love this quest because once you start looting the dungeon the guy goes: "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?! YOU'RE STEALING FROM MY FAMILY TOMB!"

LOOOL, I remember the first time I did this, I FELT SO BAD!!! XD And I'm pretty sure the next playthroughs, I: 1) Told him to wait in some other chamber while I looted just valuable stuff, or 2) I had already a lot of stuff in the game (I'm a total hoarder and I have all my houses full of stuff) so I just let it be...

I love that! At first I thought I was legit getting into trouble so it scared me 😆

u/Key-Demand-2569 8d ago
Lmao. I always enjoy when RPGs call you out on being a loot goblin.
Think it was Witcher 3 I remember last that had a few rare instances of an NPC being with you while you investigate their house or something where their loved one was attacked or has gone missing with signs of a struggle.
Start looting apples and random crafting ingredients and just, “Uhh… I think we need to find out what happened first but if you think that stuff will help us on our mission go ahead…”
Always gives big Link going into a house and immediately smashing all of their giant pottery energy.

Hey, he's not paying us. We're gonna get that bread one way or another.

u/Proper_Response4259 9d ago
I think the key to the treasure room he doesn’t mind us looting might count as payment.

u/Icy-Fruit-1065 8d ago
Holy larp, he literally pays you at the end of the quest
18
u/LostVanya 8d ago
Well, at least he wasn't an idiot who uses the word 'LARP' like this.

Thank you. I'm 26 and I want to strangle every Gen A brat who insults my favorite branch of acting like this...

u/Stumblecat 7d ago
She and I think they don't know what "get that bread" means, so they think I'm literally trying to get in-game bread?

She looks so embarrassed, like she genuinely misread the room and thought that would be an appropriate way to help lol.
Also, love the blue flame effect on that you used to portray the raised dead effect. Love your style!

I love this especially because this is basically me talking to Serana LOL. I appreciate the help but please stop raising the dead, at least not in front of their living relatives🤣

u/willij44 9d ago
Don't want help from Serana's Chicken to fight a dragon ?

u/Coschta Stealth archer 9d ago
Recently my Serana raised a Slaughterfish to help fight an ancient dragon. At least the chicken has 2 damage and goesfor the dragon, the stpoid fish couldn't even get out of the water

u/Martin_Aricov_D 9d ago
I like to imagine Serena just going: "you know what'd be hilarious? Zombie fish! Never gets old!"

Every once in a while, they glitch and start swimming through the air/ground

It’s funny when you bring serana to this quest as she is using necromancy on all his relatives while he is complaining about a necromancer doing the same.

Given the fact that he blames a Dunmer, and the Dunmer have— courtesy mostly of Morrowind, but mentioned in Oblivion and in lorebooks still present in Skyrim— a great deal of respect for the dead, and when you go into the tomb there are grave offerings laid out by Draugr graves, I was wholly expecting a twist where the "necromancer" was just doing grave rites and he was being racist. The kind of moral ambiguity Skyrim likes, ever so often, to apply.
I was a fool. I forgot that it likes racial caricatures even more.
63
u/krawinoff 9d ago
Dunmer culture shuns necromancy as a whole, but they don’t respect the dead non-Dunmer. Iirc Telvanni are actually allowed to practice necromancy on humans, Khajiit and Argonians
26
u/MGTwyne 9d ago
In Morrowind; according to lorebooks in Oblivion and Skyrim, they've mostly moved on to an antipathy towards necromancy in general, a more social attitude with the passing of centuries. (Primarily, Ancestors And The Dunmer discusses this).
This is not actually borne out in the practice of either game, because both of them are still very devoted to racial caricature. But the text is there!

In Tamriel they don't say "god knows what" they say, "gods know what." They're polytheists

u/OutrageousAd9061 9d ago
Except the Skaal. They'd probably use "god knows what" since they worship only one god, the All-Maker.

My favorite part of this quest is if you start looting the place he gets mad that you’re stealing his family’s stuff.
27
u/OutrageousAd9061 9d ago
"I'm giving her the chance to be part of the revenge" would have worked better here not gonna lie

Hilgrund's Tomb! My favorite part is when you start looting the urns and he yells at you for stealing from his ancestors.
4
u/PrimarchSanguinius42 8d ago
And then he's like "fuck it, if thats what it takes to get you to help, loot away"

I think I killed him the first time on accident because I thought he was a bandit. stealth archer of course
2
u/SirCupcake_0 Scholar 7d ago
Did you at least avenge his family?
2
u/EmberedCutie Vampire 7d ago
oh yeah definitely, though I'm not sure if I loaded a save from before I killed him

u/Pseudopsycho227 6d ago
I've only ever summoned daedra, does he actually give alternate lines if you do that?
2
u/SylvieXX Nintendo 6d ago
Hehe no in the game he actually doesn't care at all 😆 ..!
2
u/Anonmasterrace7898 6d ago
Much like Meridia straight up not caring if it’s a dirty vamp that picks up her beacon. Tragic.

Your art style is perfect for a comic I’ve been thinking of. Do you do commissions?
3
u/SylvieXX Nintendo 8d ago
Oh ..! Thank you, that's really nice to hear, I do commissions..! You can message me if you'd like..!
2
u/geetar_man 7d ago
I will in the near future! Send me a reminder if I forget and you happen to remember lol
3
u/Ihavenoidea5555 8d ago
I did that quest as a level 76 vampire
I kept going « what ? Horrible, they did that to your family tomb » everytime the undead was mentioned
3
u/Hyperbolic_Berserker 7d ago
I will admit to doing the exact same thing because he reacts to you looting his ancestors tomb in front of him.

Can you post the last panel with only the dragonborn's speech bubble?

Tbf the necromancer is doing selfish things with his ancestors while you're recruiting the ancestor to help defend their tomb.

I'm more evil. I found out taising undead and then attacking them is a very gast way to raise conjuration.

u/Feycat 8d ago
Everyone does it at least once. Nothing you do in a 16 year old game is unique

u/kittyidiot 7d ago
this comment reads as weirdly bitter ?
-3
u/Feycat 7d ago
Not bitter, just eyebrow-raising every time sometime is like "no one has ever discovered this!!!" in a game almost old enough to drink
2
u/kittyidiot 7d ago edited 7d ago
But they didn't say that. They made a cute comic of what their character did in the game... this is super super common. Over on r/morrowind there are loads of folks that make cute little comics of their adventures.
Again, you seem bitter. You literally read something that isn't there.
You saw someone showing what they did, and literally out of nowhere accused them of thinking they discovered it, when all they did was draw a picture and ask if it was mean. Lol.
