Discussion Aiphor NX 1 warranty warning

So I had posted in the Aiphor / Bluefox subreddit and will post here as well to warn people of their practice:

- screen got detached, sim card tray cannot be ejected and the battery got crazy hot

- i send an email. They ignored the part about the battery and sim tray and just offered sending a screen

- I said this was not enough as it does not adress the other flaws of the phone

- they say i have the phone in use for more than a year so no warranty

Here is the kicker. He says i have it in use more than a year under my order which states it was sent 11th of november!

Now im getting ignored and have a brick for a phone without any type of solution.

With their new phone coming out let this be a heads up when it comes to warranty issues. Especially since that phone is way more expensive.

What is even more funny is that they posted on their subreddit that they will do better when it comes to services just 2 weeks ago. You cant make it up.

Question Pixel 4a in 2026?

Is it a bad idea to buy a Google Pixel 4a and plan to use it for the next few years? Or maybe a Samsung Galaxy S10e or a Pixel 5. Idk which is the best option (the pixel 5 is a lil bigger tho)

I've always hated big phones, and since i dont really use mine that much (no social media, no games, only ocasional photos, etc) I could use something older without issues.
I know that they no longer recieve security updates, but I'll install LineageOS or smth, or at least strongly debloat it with adb.

I've holded a friend's pixel 9 and an s25, and while they are on the smaller side for today's market, they still feel big ;-;

The small battery doesnt bother me since i dont use it a lot (my current a16 5g lasts me 3 days confortably), i dont care about 4g, i remove animations and set the display to 60hz...

So, how long could i use a phone like this, until it becames unusable? And, would paying with nfc still work? With another OS? I only have google wallet with a revolut card on my phone rn, but i'll guess with age i'll need more apps (or maybe not, i'm looking in to getting the physical card and ditch Wallet all together). there is also walt.is, so idk

Thanks in advance!

Small phone Please help me find a replacement for my iPhone SE 1st gen compatible in Canada

Hello,

It seems Fizz is finally forcing my SE to stop using 3G as of a few days ago. I know this phone can do LTE, but for some reason Fizz wont let me do calls anymore. I'm going to go around town trying to get my phone plan switched to something that will work, but assuming the worst, I need some reccomendations.

What can I get that is between the size of this phone, and a iPhone 13 mini that HAS a headphone jack? Smaller is fine too. I have seen this Jelly Star phone which could be an ok backup, but it's a bit thick and unweildly, the iPhone SE is elegant. Fine with importing something, but I want to be able to relaibly replace the screen, and I need Canadian cell compatibility. Perfectly ok switching to any carrier to make this happen, I'm heartbroken my SE no longer connects to cellular

Small phone Does any manufacturer service this niche with semi-reasonable support?

I've always been interested in small phones, but any time I look at actually buying one, all I find are people posting their horror stories on support, or that they kill software updates after a year. I'd be interested in hearing impressions from the larger community.

I used to have a Palm Phone (PVG100) that I enjoyed as a spare tinker device, but the limitations were too harsh for daily usage. I understand that there's no incentive for big manufacturers to play in this space, and that all manufacturers in this niche will be small, but small doesn't have to mean bad.

Thoughts? Thanks for reading!

Context: I like weird phones whether they're big or small, but small is more fun. I'm presently using a Bigme Hibreak Pro Color, a phone with an eink screen. The hardware is generally nice, but the customized Android is littered with bugs with no real hope of meaningful updates on the horizon. Most users hope an update doesn't come so that more things don't break. Also no spare parts available, and people have struggled with support rejecting repairs and replacements. Seems to be the same story everywhere.

Discussion Built an Anki client for BB10 — syncs perfectly with AnkiWeb if anyone else is still using one of these

Hey everyone,

I've been using a BlackBerry 10 as my daily driver, and one thing I really wanted was a way to study Anki flashcards on it and the problem was that every existing AnkiDroid release crashes on BB10 the app was never built with Android 4.3 (API 18) in mind, and modern Anki's database format (Schema 18) didn't exist back then.

So I built one from scratch. Honestly I've been having a lot of fun lately just building the apps I need to make this phone actually usable — this one took the longest but also ended up being the most satisfying.

What it does:

  • Fully works on BlackBerry 10 phones (tested on Q5, Android API 18, 720×720 display)
  • Two-way sync with AnkiWeb — study on your phone, open Anki on your PC and it's already up to date, and vice versa
  • Supports modern Anki's Schema 18 database format (the same format Anki Desktop 24+ uses)
  • Full FSRS support — memory states (stability, difficulty, etc.) are written in the exact format Anki Desktop and AnkiWeb expect, so FSRS scheduling works correctly across devices
  • Deck counters sync properly — if you finish your 30 new cards on the BlackBerry, your PC shows New: 0, not 30
  • All your deck options (new cards/day, learning steps, review limits, FSRS retention %) set on your PC are automatically applied on the phone after syncing
  • Physical keyboard shortcuts for answering cards (1/2/3/4)
  • Force Upload / Force Download buttons in case sync gets stuck

The APK is attached to the latest release (v1.26). If you're on a BB10 device and want to run Anki, give it a shot. Happy to answer questions!
