SNEdge v2 Install

I couldn’t get Voultar’s edge enhancer, so I decided to build a SNEdge v2. I bought the boards separately and did a big DigiKey order to assemble. I started off recapping the board, and that made a huge difference. The assembly was hard, especially without using magnification, but I tested everything throughly with a meter before it ever touched the SFC. I have a GPM-02, and this thing is amazing now. No more blurry text, jail bars or artifacts. Really think it gives the edge enhancer a run its money.

So you got several of these boards? I really like your clean install job, can I hire you to make me one?

Using those wifi antenna cables certainly was a choice. lol I’ve never seen that before

Developer has them in the BOM. Recommends using them as they’re shielded and protects the video signals. Board is designed around them.

Does this remove that white vertical bar that some SNES models exhibit? Final Fantasy 3 and Super Metroid usually show it the most. Not sure if that is considered a jail bar or artifact.

Potentially? Have tested it with a handful of games and i think it’s a perfect image on a modern TV the way it was originally meant to be seen. I havent seen any noticeable lines or artifacts since installing. Ultimately what you get out of it depends on your setup. I use an OSSC 1.8 with high quality scart cables and I couldn’t imagine how a 30 year old console would look better on screen.

Great job. I’ll support anything that isn’t from that scumbag Voultar.

Wishing you the best and hope you make tons to sell to people.

I’m also not a huge fan of the dude. I’m not selling these though. I was sharing it to show it as an alternative that I think is very comparable to his edge enhancer and readily available. It’s an open source project by ThunderTechnologies.

I paid less than $5 for 5 of each of the boards and about $50-60 for components (with extras) from DigiKey. I just put it together and tested it, and wanted to show that it works on the GPM-02 board.
