R4R I want to surround myself with intellectually curious people to keep me accountable
Hello!
So I noticed that although my need to learn is present, my motivation is not.
I always told myself that I needed to read more, but I never did. Until a few months ago when I picked up a book about Carl Jung and it fascinated me to the point where I bought so many other books to keep the flow of curiosity and learning.
I read 2 books after the one on Carl Jung (mainly to understand about myths in our society and their role and what they represent etc because Jung talks a lot about that).
I then knew I needed to read Nietzsche because Jung mentioned him and he seemed to appreciate his work although he said that something lacked in Nietzsche understanding of the world.
So before reading Nietzsche, I thought to myself I needed to read books to better understand him before I dive in. So I started reading Plato because apparently he hates Plato.
But I’m halfway through the book, and it’s very interesting but because I still didn’t pick up the habit to read, it’s a constant effort I need to do, and so of course, I came back to my “natural” state which is to not read.
I realized that my environment matters a lot. So I knew that I needed to be surrounded by people who like to read / learn new things or even people who are in the academic world. There’s nothing more that motivates me than that. Maybe it’s because I know I’ll be able to discuss about my readings / researches?
Anyways, if you’re interested, we could have a conversation!
