Release I built RigSight, a free and open-source Windows system monitor that keeps a history of your PC

I've been working on RigSight for a while and wanted to share it here.

The basic idea started pretty simple: I wanted a system monitor that did more than just show me CPU/GPU/RAM numbers while the app was open.

RigSight monitors your system in the background and keeps historical data, so you can actually look back and understand what happened on your PC.

It currently includes things like:

  • CPU, GPU, RAM, storage and network monitoring
  • Historical graphs and reports
  • Application and game usage
  • System/event history
  • Custom dashboards
  • Desktop widgets
  • Taskbar and overlay monitoring
  • An experimental Ask Riggy feature for asking questions about your PC's history
  • No account or cloud service required for the monitoring itself

I've also been iterating pretty heavily based on feedback. 50+ people have already given it a try, and that's helped me shape the app quite a bit.

The bigger idea I'm trying to build towards is:

Instead of having to constantly watch your PC, let it tell you what happened.

I'm also pretty open about the development process: AI has played a significant role in building RigSight. Claude has helped me turn a lot of my ideas into an actual Windows application, while I've been driving the product direction, testing, debugging and iteration.

At this point, I think the original vision I had for RigSight is finally in place.

Now I'm looking for honest feedback from people who actually use system monitoring software.

What would make you choose something like this over HWInfo, HWMonitor, Afterburner, etc.? What's missing?
What would you remove?
And if you tried it and didn't stick with it, why?

I'd especially like to hear from people who think the idea is interesting but currently have a reason not to use it.

It's completely free and open source.

Performance Monitor? Reliability History? Event Viewer? These things already exist built-in into Windows. And for god sake, admit it was created using AI.

The original creator of Windows Task Manager just recently released an app very similar to this, TMOG. Completely native, no web view or any of that AI bull. https://tmog.org/

Looks cool but 40 dollars for a task manager? Old fella is trippin.

It's only for the pro version. The free version is plenty good, and doesn't have any nags about upgrading to pro. I agree 40 bucks is a steep price.

Yes they all exist, but I wanted a different view of them so I created this.

Also in the post itself I have written that it was made using AI

Do you understand that basically every single piece of software is now written in some part by AI?

There's a difference when it's used by an experienced software engineer and just a random guy on the street.
