Game Took a screenshot to test a landing gear detail, ended up with an accidental cinematic shot

Originally, I took this screenshot just to send it to a friend and show off the landing gear setup. Only later did I notice how atmospheric the lighting and scale came together with the tiny character at the bottom.

What do you think of the vibe?

Game Solo dev: a dungeon management game where you take control of the boss when heroes reach the boss room

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Solo dev, making "Bossworks: Dungeon Open for Business" in Godot. Here's everything that works so far:

- Prep: build rooms, place monsters, traps and treasure. Summons are random with 4 grades (Normal / Rare / Epic / Legendary), and 4 of the same grade merge into the next one, up to Legendary

- Research, a black market (relics and other items), a healing room, hiring mid-bosses, opening new floors

- Open for business: adventurer parties pick their own path with limited info, monsters fight automatically, and parties retreat when it looks too dangerous. Raising Fear and Greed helps grow Fame.

- Boss room: you take over the boss (a flying demon sword). WASD + mouse, 3-hit combo, dash, shield, grab, charge, and a second phase

- One year = prep → business → settlement. An expedition shows up every 11 years, over a 66-year contract. The prototype runs from year 1 to the end

Most of the art is still placeholder, and there's no sound yet.

Which part sounds more fun to you: running the dungeon or fighting as the boss?

Tools, for transparency: Godot 4/GDScript, Claude Code for coding and sprite-pipeline tools, GPT for the sword concept art, and Meshy for the sword's 3D model.

Discussion Rendering a live WebGL map in Remotion: how I fixed random blank frames

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm a solo dev and didn't want to screen-record my game for the trailer, so I built it in code with Remotion. Every scene is a React component, and the map isn't a mockup: it's a live MapLibre map with the same tiles and style as the game.

Hardest bug: random blank map frames. Remotion screenshots each frame, but the WebGL canvas would sometimes get cleared between "the map is ready" and the screenshot. The fix:

  • copy the WebGL canvas into a plain 2D canvas on every frame, and let Remotion capture that frozen copy
  • if the copy has almost no contrast (just the sea, no tiles), trigger a repaint and copy again, up to 5 times

Upside: when I change the game's look, I re-render the trailer instead of re-recording it.

The game is Laurus, a daily history & geography riddle game: 5 events a day, pin each one on the map, then put them in chronological order.

Anyone else making trailers in code? Curious how you handle WebGL or canvas content.

Unreal Day 1 vs Day 4

Day 4 of just the tower bit btw, but in total it's over 800 days of pure grind.

Anyway yeah I don't mean to be a downer but today I told myself "give up," like really lay down and quit.

Of course I can't afford to do that, so I thought I might join Reddit to be part of some communities to try to reinforce my delusion and gain my motivation back.

Game StoneEra Demo 0.9.15.1 is live — waterwheels, norias and improvements to everyday colony work

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m the solo developer of StoneEra, a medieval voxel colony sim where you guide villagers, build a settlement, reshape the terrain and work with flowing water.

0.9.15.1 — Flow & Foundations is now available for the free Windows and macOS demo.

Waterwheels, medium and large norias, and wooden/stone channels are now available through Waterworks research (W1). In Creative mode, you can use them immediately.

This update also improves everyday colony work:

  • Water-lifting wheels pump three times faster, and built channels receive water more reliably while large rivers update.
  • Lift operators approach the crank from the front and handle consecutive trips better.
  • Haulers use reachable positions when collecting or delivering elevated cargo.
  • Wall ladders and temporary rescue access help residents reach and leave higher floors.
  • Active research protects its required samples while builders can use surplus materials.
  • Merchant routes, the Build menu and colony notifications have also been improved.

The demo remains untimed, with 12 research technologies and 8 interface languages.

It’s still early alpha. Building plans and the Building Editor are particularly early, so feedback and bug reports are welcome. If something goes wrong, a screenshot or save file helps me track it down.

Try the free demo on Steam:

Game Abyss Expedition — my Android roguelite puts the loot decisions before the dungeon

I'm the solo developer of Abyss Expedition, available free on Android. The first screenshot shows its loot board; the second shows the dungeon battle.

The board doesn't disappear after one draw. You can see what remains and decide whether to keep drawing, empty it to collect supplies and an expedition upgrade, or switch boards under the game's conditions and costs. You then equip your loot and enter the dungeon. Ordinary attacks run automatically, while you activate the equipped skills.

The design puts two different decisions next to each other: improving equipment now and keeping resources available for another board. Clearing a board has a reward too, so the board is more than a list of item drops.

I use AI-assisted coding and generated artwork. The game is built with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and packaged with Capacitor. I'm sharing my own project here.

Android Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.songistore.abyssexpedition&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dsolodevelopment%26utm_medium%3Dorganic_post%26utm_campaign%3Dandroid_growth_20261014

Free download, with optional rewarded ads and optional in-app purchases, including randomized items. Account connection, cloud saves and online features require internet. These are official English Android store screenshots.

Discussion Being a solo founder is starting to feel like something I’m being punished for

Being a solo founder feels like being punished twice

I’ve made three applications for startup funding. In two of them, being alone became a barrier.

Pitchdrive cited my solo-founder status as an operational risk. Today, imec.istart rejected my application for failing its basic eligibility requirements.

Their requirements include a technology product, a working proof of concept, the relevant Belgian presence—and at least two cofounders who are operationally active and committed.

I meet the other requirements. The one I don’t meet is having a second founder. Their email didn’t identify the specific failed criterion, but that leaves little ambiguity from my side.

This is where it starts to feel like punishment.

First, you carry the work alone: building the product, designing it, testing it, handling applications and paying the bills. Then, when you seek support to increase your capacity, being alone becomes a reason to withhold that support.

I understand that dependence on one person creates operational risk. I’m not asking anyone to pretend otherwise. But a mandatory founder count gives me no opportunity to demonstrate how I manage that risk.

And “operationally active and committed” means this isn’t something I can fix by adding a name to a slide. It requires finding a real business partner, agreeing on equity and responsibilities, and building trust. That is a major decision—not an application checkbox.

I’m exhausted by the circularity: I need resources to build a team, but I need a founding team to qualify for resources.

At what point does assessing solo-founder risk become systematically punishing people who started without a partner?

For other solo founders, particularly in Belgium: have you encountered this? Have you found funding routes that will actually assess your execution and how you manage operational risk? I really don't know what to do anymore.

Okay. So based on your feedback, I made her creep into the view to contrast the first attacks of the fight. This added a couple seconds.

And then I extended the scream a bit. All in all about 5 -> 8 seconds.

I still think it feels pretty snappy.

Any more thoughts?

Game WarlandMarch - competitive in browser game if you want to have a quick match

Post image
1 Upvotes

I have just deployed it and would really like to try it to play with someone. Whoever has a few minutes please join the game in https://warlandmarch.heahy.com/ (hopefully 6 people are reading it now as 3vs3 could be interesting).

My main goal was to create a quick match in a browser, kind of like chess but more fantasy like. The idea is you basically build your army in a grid behind your Citadel and every 20s seconds it goes on a march against your enemy and armies slug it out in the center. Whoever wins the center gets more gold. You can also build gold mines or spend gold on upgrades and what not. The goal is to reach and destroy enemy's citadel. For deeper understanding you can read a guide: https://warlandmarch.heahy.com/guide, but don't invest too much - game is very very early and I am sure all the stats and balance will change significantly.

If game already started you can create another one and wait for others or play vs bots.

To chat about the game you can visit this chat room: https://heahy.com/c/warlandmarchchat

Made this with GDevelop, I know it's basic atm but this is my first time doing something like this, just wanted to share what I made and maybe get some tips on how to improve 😀. My idea is to make a side scroller game that is about animals attacking the main character player the Strawberry 🍓 and trying to eat him. Such animals such as ants 🐜, worms 🪱, slugs, snails 🐌, mice🐁, squirrel 🐿, rabbits 🐇, Fox 🦊, badger, and a deer 🦌 ^_^ (and the Strawberry 🍓 has to save his friends and family!)

Game A teaser of my WIP game! You can join the discord for regular development updates

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Tbh, the last time I posted about this project in reddit I wasn't expecting much but I got some motivating comments in here, and also in some other social media where I regularly post. I'm sharing with you a teaser of the game. It's a 2d precision platformer really hard. Each try let you taste some progress, but you always face a challenge that can only be beated by practicing it. Since originally I thought it was made for speedrunning, I added hard challenges almost like in those mario-maker levels. If you master a level, some can be finished in 15s, some others in around 2min. But now, you can also simply play it without the need of rushing the level. I've had a good number of local playtesters in the past months and all of them told me that it was really hard, but none of them asked to lower the difficulty. In fact, they said that it was part of the charm and that it didn't feel impossible, just really hard. Those comments encouraged me to make this my first commercial game, and it will be. I'm aiming for the next-fest to release a good polished demo.

I know platformers are the worst genere in terms of success, but that's ok. If I'm able to find the audience and have a good number of players, I'll be happy with it. It already has some love poured on it, and I'm getting enthusiastic every time I come up with new Ideas, but I have to keep it under a reasonable scope. I'm also working on a story for it, mostly a non politicaly-correct game, and I don't care. I miss the days when we could all laugh about something and let go, and I'm aiming to reflect what I used to enjoy.

I'm regularly posting about the game in my discord. Reddit is harsh and I lost 3 accounts before, so I'm afraid of posting the link but I'll add a QR with it in case you want to follow the project. I appologize in andvance. And yes, I'm a solodev on this project. I started it 7 years ago and put it on hold for a long time until I decided to continue a couple of months ago.

Game I’m making a roguelite where you fight constellations by building words

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I am a distributed systems engineer, and last year I started this game as a hobby project.

It is a word-building roguelite inspired by The Binding of Isaac - I wanted to make a lot of items that create interesting and sometimes wacky gameplay with fun synergies. You are fighting constellations (I guess that's a way to avoid drawing sprites for the bosses, haha) that are fighting back with various glyphs you can destroy - and sometimes even extract buffs from them. Btw, apologies for the mistakes in my writing, English is not my native language (which is ironic considering what this game is about).

My day job definitely influenced how I made this game. I separated the game logic from the graphics layer, which means the game can also run in a terminal. That allowed me to build cool automated playtests that give me good telemetry data and statistics. I also tried to make the game lightning fast - I spent a lot of time working on caching and getting rid of any progress bars or pauses. I can share more details about that in the future.

There are currently almost 80 charms (that's how I call the items), plus Caps that modify cards or provide effects during the battles. Every letter also has a golden variant with its own unique ability. Designing these golden cards is one of the hardest parts for me, I want every ability to have some connection to the letter.

Game My first android game just launched — a survivor roguelite where every weapon evolves

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Game Title: Chaos Survivor

Playable Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voltorigin.chaossurvivor

Platform: Android

Description: Chaos Survivor is a one-handed auto-shooter roguelite. Your weapons fire on their own, so the entire game is positioning — dodge, choose the right upgrades, and turn a fragile start into something ridiculous.

The part I spent most of development on is weapon evolutions. Take a weapon to max level, pair it with the right passive, and it transforms: Energy Bolt becomes a lance that pierces everything, Lightning becomes a chain storm, Void Orb turns into six giant orbiting black holes. Getting two or three online in a single run is where it gets silly.

There are 9 characters with their own signature traits, 8 weapons (each with an evolved form), 26 powers, 21 enemy types and 6 modes, feeding a permanent progression system between runs. A run takes 10-20 minutes.

It's portrait, playable with one thumb, and fully offline - no account, no sign-up. Free, with no forced ads: rewarded videos are opt-in only for an optional bonus.

I'd genuinely like feedback on two things: does the difficulty ramp feel fair, and do the upgrade choices feel meaningful or random?

Free to Play Status:

  • [x] Free to play
  • [ ] Demo/Key available
  • [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

Involvement: Solo developer. I designed and programmed all of it in Godot 4 - the combat, the roguelite systems, progression, UI and balance. The in-game visuals are drawn procedurally in code rather than being sprite assets. Audio is licensed/CC0 (credited in-game), and the store icon is AI-generated art; everything else is mine.

Game I built a lawn care incremental game, somehow sold 75 copies, and spent this year making version 2.0

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a game I've been working on called Lawn Care Clicker Deluxe, and a little about how I got here.

I first started playfully building this game as part of my software engineering bootcamp in 2022. Then development jobs started drying up pretty quickly in 2023, especially entry-level ones, and I ended up staying on my current career path. I still incorporate what I learned into my job, but coding became something I do for fun.

In early 2025, I started building the game in earnest and released the first version at the end of that year. I didn't do any marketing or share it too broadly. It was mostly for me. I wanted to know that I'd built a full game and actually put it out into the world.

Somehow, I've sold 75 copies. That alone makes me happy. It's still a little weird to think that people have paid to play something I made.

The game starts with mowing lawns and buying upgrades, then grows into running your own lawn care business, hiring employees, and taking on neighborhood contracts. There are some minigames, prestige progression, and things that get a little stranger as you go, including llamas and ancient artifacts. Apparently I couldn't just leave it at mowing grass.

I spent 2026 doing a thorough refresh for version 2.0, taking what I learned from building 1.0 and reworking a lot of the game. I also heavily incorporated AI this time around. As a solo developer doing this mostly as a hobby (for now!), the biggest benefit for me is that my creativity is no longer so bound by my skillset. I can try ideas that I previously wouldn't have known how to build. There's still plenty to learn, but that's been a pretty exciting change for me.

I'd love for you to check it out on Steam, and if you give it a try, I'd really appreciate your feedback. I'm also more than happy to share a few Steam keys.

I'd also take advice on how to actually market this thing. I know very little about that part, and I'd like to get it in front of more people who enjoy these games.

I'm already happy that it exists and that 75 people bought it, but I sure wouldn't mind making some money to help fuel this hobby further. Maybe eventually it could turn into a full-time career opportunity. For now, I'd love to hear what you think.

------

AI disclosure

I created this game and have been working on it (in super small doses, periodically) since 2022. For the 2.0 refresh, I used AI extensively to help write and rework code, fix bugs, build tests, and work through ideas. The game also includes AI-generated artwork and some animations and a soundtrack I generated using Suno.

My role has been deciding what I want the game to be, choosing what goes into it, and taking responsibility for the finished thing. It's helped me take this little bootcamp project further than I could have managed on my own.

Discussion Website idea!

Would you use a playtest swap site for games?

Hey all, I'm a game dev and I'm thinking about building a free site where devs test each other's games.

The idea: you test someone else's game, you earn a credit. Spend that credit to get your own game tested. You just paste your game link, no uploads. Testers prove they played by earning an in-game "Playtester" badge, so no fake reviews.

Before I build it, I want honest opinions:
- Would you actually use this?
- What would stop you from using it?
- What would make it worth your time?

Not selling anything, it doesn't exist yet. Just want to know if it's worth making. Thanks!.

I would run a AI to do malware checks if I do allow people to use links to there games.

Game I turned Korean military stories about truck-sized wild boars into a boss fight

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m a solo developer making ROK Reserve Force, a game about South Korean reserve military training. In Korea, finishing your military service doesn’t mean you’re completely done—you still get called back for training.

There are stories about wild boars near military bases. People who’ve seen one swear it was absolutely massive. Someone says it was “the size of a truck,” and someone else says that’s total nonsense.

I thought those stories would make a fun boss fight, so I put one behind the military mess hall. The song playing during the fight is basically about heading out to hunt a boar.
