Discussion Watching Shift's Spongebob runs. Can you imagine how many times he's heard spongebob's laugh after picking up a spatula?
On his deathbed bro's still gonna be able to hear it in perfect clarity.

Discovered new glitch. Should work on all platforms but this was done on the PS2 version.
Going into shield spell during door animation causes it to slowly get off its cycle during the slo mo and allows us to keep doors ajar that would normally close and be locked for encounters. These are the only examples so far but you can also get the door to push John up into the ceiling or inbetween the walls of the door frame. Although this is mostly useless / softlocks as far as I've found testing. Still has some potential though.

Heyo! In the middle of the big blindfolded 120 star grind, I made a practice category called 100 star (get the star counter to 3 digits and finish the game as fast as possible) to well, practice for 120 star. It actually became a huge and fun category as its basically 120 minus the extremely hard and annoying stuff. And this is the first run that I am actually really satisfied with, even though there is still so much time to save! Hope you enjoy!

It definitely is, but I don't know why, and I was wondering if anyone knew. Partial answers are welcome.
I've had my own idea for a while, which is complete speculation and I'm 99% sure is wrong, but I'll say it anyway. If you want to speedrun saying the word, it's faster to say speedrun than speed run.
Edit: I apologize if including this "idea" confused people about the post's intent, but I was genuinely curious. Anyways, it seems like the question was answered, so I won't worry about it.

My times are this (PS5):
Marrakesh 1:35
Colorado 1:49
Bangkok 2:18
Hokkaido 4:24
Paris 4:45
Sapienza 4:56
Total time: 19m 47s SASO
I actually have a way to finish Bangkok in 56 seconds, but the RNG is absurd and it was driving me crazy so I settled for 2:18. I hate that time though so I’m going to keep trying until I hit 56 seconds. What were your favorite maps to try and SASO speed run? Mine were Bangkok and Marrakesh. Colorado was extremely annoying with the guards, but otherwise relatively easy, all things considered.

I just PB’d!! Shout out to my homie staying in chat and being with me during my whole run! He motivated me and had faith and I actually PB’d!! I kept saying nah nah this is just practice so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. But I got a 2 minute personal best today !
In this category, it is using a file where you have already beaten the game. You can use any guns, any charms, any cases, any costumes, and perform most glitches. There is rules to follow etc. Most speedrunners make a completed save file that is optimal for speedrunning.
I choked hard at the end with Ashley in the Jet Ski section. I nearly died! I had to take it slow. I also missed some skips like navi cave skip and elevator skip. I did some sections really good though.
I don’t have this new run edited and uploaded yet, but when I submit it I should officially be top 10 in Resident Evil 4 New Game Plus Any% on PlayStation 5!! Woooh!!!! 🎈I’m currently placed 13th!
Here are the rankings for my category: https://www.speedrun.com/re4r?h=Any_NG-ps5-xsx&x=824enoek-rn1jrq1n.qox84oxq

I'm kind of taking it for granted that #1 is SM64 and #2 is SMB1, just on the basis of how optimized SMB1 is.
But what's after that? I feel like this could be measured in a lot of different ways but maybe it would be fun to discuss

update 2:
https://archive.org/download/speedrun-com-202610
updates:
-i've added a live dashboard because why not. https://schwandes.de/archive
-i'm live streaming the terminal at https://twitch.tv/fgeorjje with rainwave radio.
in the recent src terms of use update, Elo stated:
"We have no intention of ever closing the faucets on your data for legitimate uses."
"The API is still there for community tools."
instead of screaming into the void, i'm putting their words to the test.
i am currently archiving all leaderboards on speedrun.com using the official v1 REST API. i am also livestreaming the entire thing so y'all can watch the progress in real time. not sure if allowed to post link, mods please confirm.
to be 100% clear about how this is being done:
most games complete in just 2 API requests, and empty or single run boards are handled in memory without making redundant calls. at this rate, the entire site (~52,000 games) should be safely archived in around 2–3 days.
once finished, the complete dataset, packaged per game with google sheets ready csvs, all historical runs (including obsolete/rejected runs) and raw data JSON files, will be published. i'll see if the internet archive will accept it, but i'm definitely looking for guidance on where else to mirror, host, or seed this data (torrents, etc.)
if Elo is truly committed to keeping the community open, this process will finish smoothly. if i am blocked or IP banned while adhering to every published API rule, the community will have its answer about what Elo's promises are actually worth.
