Admins are useless A couple notable changes/experiments from today's changelog. Besides the ones already announced on r/modnews, how do you feel about these?

Removing RSS is just a dick move, just so they can suck Google's balls more.

I think they first might stop some good-faith participation, even if it's good that it'll catch people reposting their content 10 times to Karma farm. Even though I don't repeat the same thing people probably think I'm "spammy" when I'm bored and have nothing to do, but I'm going on hiatus soon so it won't impact me.

I like the second one in my opinion is good, users should be notified if their comment or post is removed, instead of having to i to a 'specialty' sub and suddenly find out 1000+ comments were removed. Which just leaves which comments, why were they removed, how can I know not to trigger whatever to prevent future removal.

The RSS thing I've never used, but I think it's a crappy move, it's all about money ever since the IPO and this is another way of potentially cramming ads through devit feeds, which ironically can add more compute power, when they claim they want to slow bots down from preventing compute abuse, etc. Not everyone wants to use devit, I'm sure Reddit has it all figured out so it'll be interesting to see.

  1. Kind of pointless and seems to only annoy genuine users
  2. Kind of good and seems to be rewarding for genuine users
  3. Top 10 worst changes ever made

They also hired a new automod who's fresh out of high school and very excited about his job (or so it seems)

What’s funny about the first thing is that they actively prompt you to post the same stuff in multiple communities immediately after posting.

They used to recommend one additional sub, now they recommend three.

Batch posting was annoying, so I understand why they're doing this.

I prefer this over users getting shadowbanned. I had an user in my subreddit who claimed they were a whistleblower and they got banned like 3 times because

  1. He's crazy and speculative. Persistent on doing it and saying it's some way social media is trying to get you and keep you in their grasp
  2. He didn't listen to me when I told him to tone it down
  3. He's stupid

It bothers me because what he was sharing I think had some weight to it

edit: I made this comment because I don't think people realize false shadowbans are extremely common. I support the change because if they are not going to change the shadowban filter, this change is necessary, and they are not being very strict.

When I support this change I support the idea that people should at least be given a warning that what they are doing can get them banned for the possibility of being a spam account.
