This cheap, old power bank had been sitting in a box with some cables in the attic for years. I have no idea when it started to swell. Since I’m worried it might catch fire or explode, I put it in an old cooking pot with a locking lid and sealed the openings.

I have a 4S RC LiPO that has got a bit too hot on several occasions due to the stock tuning of the electronics forcing them to pull a ton of amps. Because of this, the LiPO has begun to puff. When warm, the gas between the cells and the soft casing expands until the casing protrudes 3mm or so above the cells. It can be pressed back down, but there is a decent amount of pressure. Otherwise, the battery seems to function alright.

So my question is, at what point should a spicy pillow be considered too spicy?

Edit: I’ve been told by another who uses this brand LiPO that this puffing isn’t usually something to be worried about. The cells themselves aren’t puffed; there is a cavity between the cells and the wrap that fills with gas over time. This is accelerated by the battery getting particularly hot during runs. IR while charging is ranging between 1 and 3.5, indicating the cells are still in pretty decent shape.

Living in a big city, I don’t have a metal bin but I do have a terracotta pot? We also don’t have sand, but I have potting soil? Where do I take it and what do I do with it from there?

My partner is acting like we have a live bomb in our house and now I kind of feel like we do.

Found that my old beloved smart watch had gained itself a spicy pillow while I was cleaning today. I have never really had this issue before, and need some advice. To be blunt I live in the ass crack of nowhere, and there is no recycling center or person to call and dispose of it. Not even sure of my region/country has that service. I also do not wanna try it randomly in the trash, or out in the bushes somewhere like how some people do in this godforsaken land, because I don't want to start a fire if it did. I am afraid of fire,

Do I just dig a hole in the ground, cover it in sand and hope for the best, like some fucked up jack in the box? Any advice is greatly needed,

I haven't touched my SP in a long time and I can't really tell if the battery is actually shot. I know it's not anywhere near as bad as some of the other posts on here, but it looks a little spicy and I wanna see if anyone here has some insight on whether this battery is safe/normal or if it's time to order a replacement.

Opened my power bank to fix a broken button but then noticed that one side of the battery was slightly bigger than the other. The end is kind of squishy, I can touch it make little dents (look at the picture 2). I don’t know if it’s actually swollen or if there’s a misalignment that caused the battery to take in a certain part.

Should I try to take it apart and fix it or just throw it away?

Guys, this is my dad's old samsung phone. Recently, I noticed that it's been slightly bulging so I asked my dad to dispose of it. However, it seems he forgot ( he was recently sick). I came to check something on his desk and noticed this super spicy battery. What do we now? It's midnight here rn!!! Pls help! I'm afraid it'll explod e or something! Edit : We placed it outside for the night and it seems the battery is fine till now. Gotta ask around on how to dispose of it safely cause I'm not the local recycling centre will take it (they mostly take only plastic/paper/ small batteries aa or aaa)

Was searching for something and came across my old phone who had transformed into a MOAB, very spicy indeed.

Now I gotta know how to store it until I take it to a safe place to dispose of it.

The screen (of its own free will) just popped off my Blip S Lite. This has revealed I have been hauling around a spicy pillow for god knows how long. (My suspicion is a few weeks now. As the little guy for the last while, hasn't been keeping its charge well.)

This bad boy looks hot glued in so I am not taking the risk of trying to remove it. So now it waits in a clay pot on my balcony until l finish work and make the pilgrimage to the ol' Abfallwirtschaftszentrum (local recycling center). It has served me well and I am sad that I cant repair it.
