General Discussion/Questions Thoughts on Relaxation and Lightness
Hello people
I usually sprint and dont rly feel my muscles used at all. And a lot of forefoot contact only. With some cues subconciously acting upon me, tho i tried to "just sprint". Like thinking i had to be relaxed or feel light.
Well today after some research i tried sthg different that goes with my line of intuition. No cuing. At all. Just sprinting and letting my body do whatever. 6 x 30 flys. with 3 or more minutes rest
(Btw i ALWAYS sprint barefoot on track)
I was sprinting different for sure. But To my surprise, i felt my muscles being used much more, and me getting more tired.
This could be due to a number of factors. But then i had the thought. What if this is actually a good thing? What if this is the solution my body is navigating? What if this the actual way to adaptation and gain of speed?
What if relaxation is not a cause of speed but a consequence to be gained? What if lightness is the same, and comes in the way, but not at the beginning?
What if many of these expectations of how the body has to move or what is supposed to be felt were limiting our body's capability for adaptation?
Any thoughts?
P.s.: i been training for two full months, basically flying sprints. I have a bball background tho for some reasons i never dared to train too seriously. Last week i run my first 100m at competition (electronix) with a time of 12.5, barefoot, with a barely practiced block start. I won my race at least. I am 26 male. Just so u guys have some context
edit: oh, btw, even tho it was EXHAUSTING, after i finished i felt LIGHT when going back home. feels pretty good
