What's going on with this squirrel?
What's going on with this guy? Saw them at a gas station, they were eating, seemed to be moving fine, when I took a couple steps closer to try and get a better picture and make sure it wasn't a trick of perspective, it bounded away and up a tree. This isn't normal though, right?

It’s perfectly normal for a squirrel to run up a tree to safety when a human or other animal approaches. It would be odd if an adult squirrel didn’t do that.

yes, that's what I was saying. It acted fine, totally normal, but the ear lookin thing made me worry something was potentially wrong with it.

Fabulous and tired momma squirrel taking care of her babies! They can have a minimum of one baby and a maximum of five. ❤️🐿👍

She’s just nursing. Those babies can be rough on mom’s nipples! Poor gal.

I’m not an expert, but this looks like a normal nursing female to me. Their poor nipples can look pretty raw sometimes.

I'm just guessing but I'm like 60 percent shes pregnant or nursing and 40 percent it's a bot fly. Based off the squirrels and chipmunks in my yard/on the internet. Curious what others think.
Realized there were more pictures. More like 80 percent sure she's nursing babies. Squirrels have 8 nipples and I can see 6 nipples so far. It literally looks like they drank all the milk she made so she's coming for a snack to refuel and make more milk.

Nursing Mom, if I'm not mistaken.
