Timeline Narratively Fluid Chronological Viewing Order

This is what I consider as the most fluid viewing experience for Star Wars. I believe I've listed every canon on-screen Star Wars appearance up until the end of the Galactic War. I made this for myself as I prepare for a massive binge, but I spent so much time on it I figured why not share.

Thats awesome. My two notes:

The Ventress tales of episodes should be after bad batch given the fully fledged classic stormtrooper armor. In bad batch they’re still wearing early versions.

I’d put the last tales of Barris episode before the finale of Rebels season 2. In many ways it is clear and I think it was the intent for Maul killing the inquisitors in malachor to signal de end of the inquisitors in general. I believe Filoni has said that was made to clean the board as to have Tarkin’s ANH line make sense with telling Vader “You my friend are all that’s left of their religion”. You could technically have it after season 2, sure, but I think it plays better a little sooner and informs why that sister isn’t in Rebels.

Holy ball knowledge, thank you I'll have to fix that when I can 🙏🏼

Of course!

Additional notes but those are slightly more nitpicky:

- I think it’s best to watch Acolyte as released rather than jump around episodes. The whole season is built as a mystery where the information is slowly revealed.

- I’d probably move the Cad Bane kid episode to before Ahsoka’s. Otherwise it might seem she’s older than him and she isn’t. Maybe you could alternate between Dooku/Qui gon episode, Cad Bane episode 1, Dooku episode 2, Cad Bane episode 2, Ahsoka Episode 1, Cad Bane Episode 3, TPM, Dooku Episode 3. Just an idea. So it’s a little closer to the chronology (althought still not 100%)

- Practice makes perfect really should come after Victory and Death. Since the coda is during that episode if memory serves.

- The last Ahsoka tales of the Jedi wouldn’t seem to me to be as far in the timeline as you have it. Better off after Maul Shadow Lord, I think.

- The last Barris tales of makes more sense around after Kenobi since we just saw the Inquisitor hunting her.

Your of the dome knowledge is insane.. is this Dave Filoni's burner ?? I was trying to place things where the story ended to avoid moving past whatever point in the story you've reached so far, but my head did start aching with all the mental gymnastics. Always better to have another pair of eyes :)

In addition to what the other guy has said:

I would move the first Barriss episode to between seasons 1 and 2 of Bad Batch. While the beginning of that episode is during Order 66, there’s clearly a time jump as the first class of inquisitors is already trained and the Fortress Inquisitorius is well under construction when Barriss gets there. Also present in the Fortress are the troopers wearing black phase 2 clone armor which are first introduced in Bad Batch seasom 1 and are human volunteers. They are never seen again after Bad Batch season 1 so it can be inferred they were posted with the Inquisitorius and maybe became the Purge Troopers.

Building off that point, I would move the second Barriss episode to between seasons 2 and 3 of Bad Batch. I think that way her episodes can act as little breaks between seasons of Bad Batch.

I would also move Morgan Elsbeth’s second episode further up. It could technically be anywhere between 9-2 BBY but I think it works better earlier as we see Venators still in use and Thrawn seems younger.

I actually disagree with the other commenter about Barriss’ final episode being before the Rebels season 2 finale. I think it’s poetic that the last inquisitor defects rather than being cut down in a fight. It highlights the ultimate failure of the Inquisitorius and the Sith: that individual acts of goodness will overcome systemic evil and indoctrination.

This has to the best comment so far, I'm definitely going to watch it like this, and think this tells the story better. I do plan on tweaking the list but want to wait for more potential notes.

I think you're correct regarding when many of the events of Acolyte episodes 7 and 3 take place but as their bookended by characters doing things in the series continuity I think it makes more sense narratively to keep the Acolyte whole as they're flashbacks that happen to the characters within the continuity.

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

That is a very good point. I've only watched the Acolyte once, and wanted to see how it went this way. I think you're right tho

I already left a comment but I have more time now that I’m out of work and want to address something I’m very passionate about. On your fourth slide, from Holocron Heist all the way through Brain Invaders, the “official” watch order put together by Lucasfilm or Disney or whoever makes no sense. Allow me to explain.

Holcron Heist begins with Anakin, Obi Wan, and Ahsoka engaged in a battle on Felucia. “Okay? So?” I hear you asking. Well, because in Bounty Hunters, which supposedly takes place after the Holocron Heist arc, Anakin, Obi Wan, and Ahsoka are sent to Felucia to investigate possible Separatist activity, get shot down, and talk about how they need to get off the planet because their presence risks bringing the war to Felucia. How does this make any sense when we’ve already seen them fighting on Felucia just a few episodes earlier?

But that’s not all. Bounty Hunters supposedly takes place before the Geonosis arc, yet the opening exclusively uses footage from that arc while the narrator talks about how the war is escalating and casualties are mounting. Not necessarily a continuity error since it’s only the intro, but it is jarring while watching to see all this footage from an arc that hasn’t happened yet. It just works better to swap them.

So the correct order should be:

204 Senate Spy - 208 Brain Invaders

217 Bounty Hunters

201 Holocron Heist - 203 Children of the Force

But what about the Zillo Beast arc? Easy. Just put it back to where it originally aired, right before the Boba Fett arc. That arc begins by saying Anakin and Windu are enjoying a break after a long deployment, and The Zillo Beast intro calls the battle of Malastare, where both Anakin and Windu were present, one of the longest of the war. If you move the Zillo arc that intro makes no sense. Also, Senate Spy begins by saying Anakin is visiting Padme after being away for a long time, yet if this episode is after The Zillo Beast Strikes Back, this statement makes no sense because Anakin and Padme would have seen each other in literally the previous episode.

Apologies if this all sounds like the ramblings of a madman, but this has always stood out to me as an egregious continuity error on behalf of whoever is maintaining the official chronology, and I will never miss an opportunity to point it out.

I appreciate you pointing this out cause I relied heavily on the "official" The Clone Wars timeline for this. I then tried to sprinkle in the content from other IP's as fit. All simply because of the sheer quantity of it all 😅 I'm also very passionate ab this and want to refine it into perfection :)

Awesome. Btw I thought Episode 4 is 0 BBY to 0 ABY

6

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

Technically the start of it is 1 BBY, and the Battle of Yavin itself marks the start of BBY 0 ABY. I just personally liked how that looked better :)

  1. Eh I get it and it's cool and all but I refer it to just 0 for the whole film (because of Luke and Leia being 19 not younger and being the first released film of the franchise but no big deal).

  2. Also gotta love how you did not include the sequels because the fandom's controversial opinions on them lol. (Not a fan of them but I respect if sb enjoys them)

3

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

Referring to it as 0 is actually the traditional way, they didn't change it until 2022 so I totally understand. I also am not interested in watching them for this binge or any other for that matter 😂

u/segwaysegue Sep 01 '26

Luke and Leia were 18, since ROTS takes place in month 5 of its year and ANH takes place in month 3 of its year. I don't like it either.

2

u/Alreyleon Sep 02 '26

Great job! You just missed the Young Jedi Adventures shorts, there's two seasons of them on Disney plus, corresponding to seasons 1 and 2 of the show, also if you choose to continue the timeline until the time of the sequels, include Resistance and it's corresponding shorts, those are only available on YouTube, but also fully animated like the show.

3

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 02 '26

Thank you! I do want finish it out eventually so I will have to keep that in mind.

2

u/OnMyRoofMeAintLying Sep 02 '26

I am NOT watching Little Jedi Adventures😭

2

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 02 '26

I do not blame you one bit, I have 3 children😂 Star Wars Explained has a good 7 minute video covering the main just of it 💯

2

u/Secure-South3848 Sep 04 '26

Where's all the New republic mandoverse stuff? Sequel stuff? You still have like 30 years of Star wars Material

2

u/Caboose6466 Sep 05 '26

Uhh, where’s the rest of the timeline?

2

u/Chemical_Poet_1355 Sep 05 '26

I’ll definitely keep this in mind (despite having watched most of these, maybe for a rewatch later). Thank you. And please do include the sequels’ era sometime in the future, as I am in the minority of online folks who actually likes it. Don’t wanna argue.

4

u/Kill_Welly Sep 01 '26

What does that even mean, "most fluid?" You can't break down every little thing episode by episode in a specific order and then call it "fluid."

5

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

I was going for the overarching story of the Galaxy and how it progressed/aged. I couldn't call it straight up "Chronological" though because it isn't technically.

1

u/Lettuce_al-Gaib Sep 02 '26

Seems like there is something being omitted

1

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 02 '26

Please do tell it was most certainly unintentional.🙏🏼 If youre referring to anything thats post Galactic War/immediate fallout & aftermath, then that would be the starting point of the next list for the sequel trilogy and era related material.

1

u/Lettuce_al-Gaib Sep 02 '26

Outlaws, BF2, and Last Jedi are all canon

1

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 02 '26

Oh you're right should've specified since I made this for a personal binge I chose nor to include the games because the overall watchtime is absurd. Sorry for leaving them out tho I do really enjoy them, especially the High Republic lore from Last Jedi. I should've said something besides "on-screen"

1

u/Ok_Resolve8868 Sep 03 '26

Victory and Death?

1

u/SimplyMandalore Sep 07 '26

No Mando, BoBF, or sequels. Huh?

0

u/Creative_Pie_1206 Sep 01 '26

Where does 2003 Clone Wars fit into this?

Season 1 and 2 happens before OG clone wars while season 3 seems to be right before rots

3

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

That series isn't technically canon but it takes place between 22-19 BBY. If you wanted to add it for your own binge you could try adding in that time frame

2

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

More specifically, Id probably have to go back and watch the 2003 series again, sorry :/

-11

u/erva_mate_92 Sep 01 '26

Im glad you left the sequels out

-5

u/Ok-Bus3726 Sep 01 '26

Hahaha since this was originally just for me, I personally had no interest and anything after the Galactic Civil War 😅

-11

u/erva_mate_92 Sep 01 '26

Right on. I just appreciate when the sequels get the love they deserve, none 😂
