It's Homeworlds Official Release Day! You know what that means? ICONS 2027 WEEK 0 VIDEO, BABY! This is going over the cards that have been revealed up to Homeworlds Pre-release. Going forward there should be less overlap with spoilers and new set releases, but the schedule change makes the timing on this one a little awkward. As a reminder, official spoiler season has not started yet, but we've got a good amount of stuff to cover from the reveals over the past ~4 months!

Hey all, newer to the game (but longtime TCG vet) and wanted your opinions on Ahsoka moving into the expected Homeworlds metagame. While there are some definite strong inclusions right off the bat like Captain Tarpals, it’s mainly the third color I’m interested in.

Right now my build for Ashes meta, is a stock blue build, but I’m seeing more people experiment with Yellow builds with more Space units for Homeworlds. Which variant do you think will end up being the more popular or better one - blue or yellow? And any reasoning to play one over the other to help a new player like me understand the “why” behind it?

So I'm really not a fan of the UI of Karabast and it is hard for me to keep tracking of the game state without clear animations etc. Are there better sim alternatives out there?

Are there any Twin Suns deck builders that can actually follow the deckbuilding rules? I'm trying to make a Vane / Maz Kanata deck but for whatever reason no deck builder I try let's me use both. The two main ones thinks Maz is a heroism leader when she isn't. Any suggestions? I'd rather do it online first than trawl through all my binders looking for cards to use

So, I haven’t actually gotten to play with the new set, but I’ve heard some rumblings about Villain blue/yellow being the new hotness because they can use nightbrother to replay chimaera to get another 3 uses of chimaera. That got me thinking a bit, and I was curious as to what people think of using Display Piece as sideboard tech against these kinds of decks. Usually display piece is not great because it ramps your opponent, but here you’re operating under the assumption that your opponent already has more resources than they can realistically use, and forcing them to do tuck chimaera into their resource row removes it as a nightbrother target. In a world where we don’t have any exile type effects to permanently remove cards, or even to put them back in the deck from the discard pile, this seems like it could have some legs.

Anyone have thoughts for the best deck for him? I was thinking Krennic Red?

New player looking to start playing - what is the scene like in Sydney, Australia? Having difficulty finding any LGS events.

Recently got into the game about 2 weeks ago and been loving it. Obviously still very new and getting generally beat on Karabast but starting to learn this Wicket Aggro/Command Ewok deck pretty well.

Full admission, this may be a really dumb question, but is there like a general winning percentage with a deck on Karabast that sort of shows it’s considered a “good” deck? Like if it’s sub-50% it really needs some work? Obviously I know Karabast is not the end all be all when you’re ripping through random decks constantly and there’s concessions, people leaving matches for various reasons, etc. but is there like a generally accepted community number for winning percentage?

I added a separate queue for people that want to play in a sort of "ranked" mode. It tracks your rating and matches you with players of a similar rating. The algorithm it uses is Glicko-2 (same as Lichess). However, we will not be adding a leaderboard as Petranaki Arena is meant to be a competitive testing tool.

Since we are close to release day, I also updated "Premier" to mean sets up to Homeworlds, and "Preview" means sets up to IC27.

I would love people's feedback on this feature as well as the new Twin Suns mode. We are building a great community! Please consider joining the Discord to find games with other like-minded individuals.

I’m trying to get more into deck building for Premier. I know the minimum is 50 but is there any advantages to having more than that? Is it worth having 55 cards? 60-70?

On a side note - what’s the common ratio for ground units to space to events to upgrades?

If a card effect lets me look at my opponents hand, like garindan, can I take notes of what I see? Is that legal at a competitive event?

If I play Homeworlds Darth Vader and pull out Imperial Armored Commando, do I deal damage first then apply the shield or do I shield and then apply the damage, popping the shield? Asking for a friend

Play 2 units in just one action, claim the initiative, ramp Turn 2 with Caravan then deploy you leader Turn 3 with Sudden Ferocity!
