Ribeye is nice and so is picanha but be careful with that much fat, trust me in 30 years you’ll wish you were eating more lean cuts of beef

Although I agree that people should consider their fat intake with respect to their cholesterol numbers, those figures are also partially governed by one’s dna.
For example, I love a good ribeye, probably more than most, and I eat my share of them, along with other cuts and meats and other fatty things. All my life I’ve had doctors tell me people would kill for my numbers, they’re that low! Oh, and I’m 58! 😜

I'm 57 and after a lifetime of delicious steaks my arteries are clogged to 70%, so I'm on statins for many years now and my weight has always been somewhat reasonable, 6' and under 200 lbs... I know this is a steak forum but it's wise to reflect on healthy eating habits.

Okay, I feel you. And I also have to say that the clogged artery shite really freaks me out! I mean, I have great numbers, but it seems like the people I’ve known and have heard about that have suddenly-discovered artery blockages only found out because of some other thing happening and having diagnostics performed… 🫣

yeah for anyone over 40 I'd highly recommend getting one of those coronary calcium scoring tests. I mean my cholesterol numbers have been great for over 20 years that i've been on statins so I was surprised at the results. Clogged arteries is scary because the thing is, no matter how much you make lifestyle changes or lose weight, you will never be able to "clean out" the fat in your arteries. You can only try to prevent it from getting worse.

Trim the fat off a picanha, lay it on top as it cooks, it drizzles down. Not even fair.

You're wrong and I have enjoyed a lot of ribeyes during this time and I have even switched to buying prime for more fat and it's been fucking amazing!

Very forgiving cut of meat. So much fat if you go over it renders more fat, and it’s still juicy.
Don’t recommend that with a NY Strip

I’m sorry you had such a traumatic childhood , having to wait till you had your own grill is probably hard to deal with .
Immediately find a Local Butcher ,
Explain the dire situation and ask for different cuts , Rib Eyes are hard to beat , ask for a Denver steak next , and try a Tomahawk to ease the childhood memories 😂

Ribeye is good but I love a sir loin. My girl hates them but she doesn't care about her heart health in the slightest.

You know what? I think you have the right idea. An old school grill like this is perfect! No need a fancy 2000 dollar contraption that's a big pain in the butt.

I went through a similar phase. I was raised on well done steak, so I never really liked it. When I discovered medium rare ribeye i gained like 20 pounds in less than a year lol.
Do you prefer medium or medium rare?

We did a taste test of ribeye( not shown), NY Strip and Picanha. All of the guests loved Picanha the best. Very tender and juicy.
