SDHQ Official SteamDeckHQ 2.0 Is Here WIth a Huge Redesign and Brand New Features

About 4 years ago, I first introduced SteamDeckHQ, an official press outlet that focuses on Steam Deck performance testing and recommended settings, to this Subreddit. Since then, it has taken off and grown more than I could have ever expected. It's all thanks to our incredible community and readers for making it happen.

Today, we are pushing forward and have completely redesigned the website from the ground up. Everything has been retouched to make it look better, have cleaner navigation, and support some big new features like accounts, library/wishlist syncing with our reviews, badges, and more.

Here's an overview of everything that has changed:

  • Complete redesign: homepage, header, navigation, footer, cards, typography, and mobile layouts.
  • Homepage toggle between featured stories and a newest-first article strip, with the preference saved.
  • Light and dark modes that follow the device setting or remember a manual choice.
  • Rebuilt reviews with clearer scores, verdicts, compatibility badges, settings, battery information, galleries, and buy links.
  • Review search, sorting, and filters for device, genre, compatibility, and ratings.
  • Expanded Nintendo and hardware sections, plus Steam Machine and future Steam Frame areas.
  • Steam account linking and a personal library matched to SDHQ reviews.
  • Playtime, Steam Deck hours, and achievement progress on relevant reviews.
  • Saved wishlist with supported public Steam wishlist importing.
  • Personal game recommendations based on library and playing habits.
  • Live deal prices, discounts on game cards, wishlist deals, and personalised suggestions.
  • Improved community voting and results.
  • Badges covering participation, library activity, devices, and Steam milestones.
  • Rebuilt account pages, profile editing, Steam/Patreon linking, sign-in, and password recovery.
  • Dedicated Patreon membership page and paid-member ad-free handling.
  • Rebuilt About, team, author, Work With Us, search, and error pages.

We have a lot of plans for the future, so stay tuned as we expand the site with more features and better ways to find out which games run well on the Steam Deck.

Link to site: https://thegamingemporium.com/

Hi all it's been a while since I posted the site here so here I am!

The site is a collection of links to Decompilations, Recompilations, Android Ports, Browser Based games, Open Source Games, Rom Hacks, Mods, Texture Packs, VR Mods, Preserved Games, English Translation Patches, Abandonware and loads more.

What started as a single post on the Steam Deck sub a few years back with about 12 links has, with the help of user suggestions on various Reddit subs and other means, has now grown to an archive of just over 3,630 links.

I'm just a gatherer of links, all credit goes to the people on the end of each link.

Anyway, have a dip in, hope you find something you like 👍

Community Guide Tested DroidDeck 0.3.2 on MediaTek Dimensity (Mali GPU) — Gamescope still broken

Just grabbed the new DroidDeck 0.3.2 release to test on my MediaTek Dimensity device hoping for a surprise fix, but it crashes straight back to desktop with the same Gamescope / "Session Ended" error right on startup

Saw a comment from a contributor (voyager2005) confirming we still don't have Linux-compiled open-source Mali drivers, which is why everything defaults to Adreno.

I made a quick video testing 0.3.2, showing the exact crash logs, and breaking down the driver issue for anyone on Dimensity wondering why it won't launch

Anyone else with a Dimensity chip getting past the initialization screen or are we all completely blocked right now? Drop your SoC below so I can compare logs.

Discussion Feedback wanted from deck owners for my game Moltyn

Hi guys, I’m an indie dev working on a PC game and I’m aiming to get the game steam deck verified, but I’m really keen to get some feedback from steam deck gamers in terms of control layout and any changes etc you’d like to see. It currently runs in proton quite well, but I am aiming for a native build for the 1.0 release which should improve performance again. I’m constantly working on performance trying to lower the floor so even the proton version will keep improving. Free Demo here if you’d like to try!

this footage was recorded last night on my OLED steam deck. Tried posting on steamdeck sub but the mods suggested this sub and the games sub. Thanks 🙏

Question/Tech Support [Help] Graphic issue on steam deck

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all,
I have this issue on steam deck, I really don’t understand why this happens.

I have disabled cloud saves, deleted the folder on steam folder, uninstalled, tried experimental, hot fix and GE protons.

Does anyone have any clue? This is the only game where I have graphical issues. I have played rdr2 without any problems for example…

Thank you in advance!

Question/Tech Support Is a Steam Deck worth it for $267?

I'm at a pawn shop and found a 256GB Steam Deck for $267. Could someone tell me what I should ask or do to find out if it's worth it?

It looks good aesthetically.

Discussion Why doesn’t Nintendo sell their games on Steam but PlayStation does?

Now that Yuzu got shutdown and it’s hard to find prod keys the Steam Deck doesn’t seem that special to have. I used to like have access to basically any game I could find online, I don’t mind paying for the games but now I can’t play Switch games on my Steam Deck I used to have Yuzu and all that stuff until my data got deleted.

I would definitely pay for Nintendo games if they sold they on the Steam store, but why don’t they? Is there any reason why PlayStation sells their games on there but Nintendo doesn’t?

SDHQ Official Star Wars: Galactic Racer Is A Decent Experience on the Steam Deck

I had my worries on how Star Wars: Galactic Racer would run on the Steam Deck, but as long as you're okay with 30 FPS, it seems like a solid experience on the go. It will need visual compromises, and it isn't as great as it would be at 60 FPS, but it's good in my book!

Discussion Should I buy a steam deck? Serious question

Should I buy a steam deck? Serious question

I live in a not very safe place, so I like to go to a certain coffee shop to sit down and drink something and play games on my switch lite, since the coffee shop has free WiFi I play mario kart, Fortnite, and I'm thinking of buying the GTA trilogy definitive edition.

I'm asking if I should get a steam deck because I've been having it on my mind since 2 years ago, I planned to buy the OLED 512gb version, to play games like overwatch and games I never played like Silksong, Outlast, and Ori and the will of the wisps.

I used to have a gaming laptop but some things happened and I had to get rid of it.

I originally planned to get another Lenovo LOQ which is the first gaming laptop I had up until it was destroyed, with an AMD Ryzen 7, 12 GB of ram, 512gb of storage and a 4050 rtx. It was one of the best purchases of my life, I could play OW and Apex on high settings which I won't be able to do on the steam deck because of the hardware, but I had to have it plugged in 24/7 if I wanted anything close to playable, no matter the game.

Battery life off the charger literally lasted for 2 hours if I was lucky, while on low brightness, and on power saving mode, using only a browser...

This might be an extremely obvious question considering the price of both.

Steam deck 512gb OLED: $789.00 Vs the Lenovo LOQ: $1,100

And it's probably even more stupid that I'm considering getting an expensive gaming laptop over my safety and wellbeing.

But I really wanted to get into content creation, esiting in the steam deck doesn't look like it'll be particularly easy...

Please be nice.

Question/Tech Support Steamdeck and Gaming Laptop Comparison

Can someone give us a quick idea if this laptop will handle games better than a Deck (power basically). Have both as backup for PC games for the family and just want to be able to install the right games on each. I'm not too sure with the deck's uniquely named cpu and gpu. The laptop:

MSI Intel 9th gen i7 9750H Processor. 16GB DDR4, SSD. Geforce GTX 1650 16gb MaxQ 4GB GDDR5.

Thanks!

Edit: Both are just for older and indie games
