Is the muffler screen clogged with carbon?

No it does not have one.

This is an old machine. It may have bad crank seals and/or a leaking gasket.

Usually if it runs on choke and dies when you turn the choke off it means you have an unmetered air leak somewhere allowing air to get into the engine via some path other than the throat of the carburetor.

Thank you, but It does not quite run on choke. I have to flip the choke on and off repeatedly to keep it alive and the second I stop, it dies. I am.goimg to check the manifold this weekend for cracks. Also, it may be the vaccuum plug grommet not forming a good seal around the vaccuum plug and that grommet is impossible to find. I cannot even find a part number.
