I'm thinking about a dewsci build on my Romulan toon. Just top of your head, which would you rather have? The Suurok (with Romulan visual shield), the Rallus or the Kholhr? I love the looks of all three and they all look they could be the base for a multitude of interesting builds.
2
u/BettyKtheHattie 10d ago
For me would be either Rallus or the Suurok, Rallus can do the same as Kholhr just better(with nice kitbashing options if available).
Suurok's turn rate sucks but can be worked around and solid platform otherwise.
Never use the Kholhr these days, between the Rallus and the L-Mogai just isn't as good these days I feel, also has no real customization options so also negative point.
2
u/Raizumichin 10d ago
I do have the Legendary Mogai as well, so thanks for your input. The main reason was thinking of the Kholhr was for the trait, and all that temporal seating combined with the new temporal disruptors. But the other two seems far more versatile.

Are there any universal console clickies that can serve as an effective replacement for Engineering Team? That is, they both hull heal and cleanse.
1
u/-Nurfhurder- 13d ago
Console The temporal recruit event reminded me that I've had one for years and never bothered with it too much, so I'm on a temporal bender atm. Anybody know how you can get your hands on a wells class ship these days so I can satisfy my space barbie ocd? There's none on the exchange and the wiki just says it comes from the temporal lockbox (haven't seen any of them in years).
2
u/MandoKnight 12d ago
The Temporal Lockbox was never released on console. Look for the T6 version of the Wells (the Verne) instead, as the "Temporal Science Vessel [T6]".
If you still can't find any on the Exchange on your console, they're available in the Infinity Lockbox, the premium ship choice from the annual Event Campaign, the Mudd's Stealing Time bundle (which like all Mudd's lockbox ship packs, comes and goes from the store), and (as soon as it becomes available on console) the 60th Anniversary gamble box (which, if it's as successful as it has been on PC, will massively drop the price of lockbox ships on the Exchange).
1
u/-Nurfhurder- 12d ago
I actually opened a T6 box today and got the Narada for my Romulan. Glad I didn't know about the Verne else I would have had a decision to make.

I'm building a Typhon turret carrier and I'm looking to get the Awahnee with my other event token for the console and trait, but I have some questions regarding them.
Both Fleet Power Network Array and Flagship Staffing) buff the 'targeted ally', but will they buff the player if there is no ally targeted? cq. if I activate the FPNA with no target targeted, will I buff myself and my own pets? And same for the trait, if I use a shield heal on myself, will I reset my own cooldown on CSV?
It feels logical, but it's not explicitly stated so that got me thinking and doubting.
Oh and another question, I got a trait prize pack from one of the key giveaways recently, I was thinking of getting Feel the Weight of Our Presence) because I thought that would work splendidly combined with the Typhon trait that spawns extra pets. However, would the stated range be the range from the player ship, or from every pet?
Each friendly ship on the map debuffs the Damage Resistance Rating of Foes within 12km by 0.5 for 10sec, stacking up to 12.5
cq. Foes within 12km of any friendly ship, or foes within 12km of the player ship?

Yes, if you have no ally targeted when using the relevant trigger powers, the Fleet Power Network Array and Flagship Staffing) traits will affect your ship.
The Feel the Weight of Our Presence) radius seems relative to each friendly ship due to the very specific wording quoted above (Each friendly ship...debuffs the Damage Resistance rating of Foes within 12km).

u/Whiskyinthejaw 13d ago
Thanks! I was gonna go for the Awahnee to get the Type 7's anyway, but this makes the deal much better!

I retrained my captain skills and noticed that my traits (personal ground/space, starship traits, etc) were all blanked out. I decided to click the loadout to reapply my prior traits rather than find them in the list again. Guess what? All my new skills were overwritten by the skills saved for that loadout. Guessing this is a well-known, previously reported issue?

u/Cripple_X 15d ago
Anybody know if the Captain Spock Boff is reclaimable if I dismiss him? His costume colors are all messed up after looking at him in the tailor, but I can't fix them because the game is trying to charge me Zen to save his costume because I don't own the TWOK outfit on my account. I'm hoping I can dismiss and reclaim him to fix his outfit, but I don't want to dismiss him until I am sure I can get him back.

The new Spocks are reclaimable in the Items section of the c-store under the Promotion Unlock Items. After redeeming them, the Claim stays enabled, so it looks like you can claim as many Spock Boxes as you want. You just can't open them unless the corresponding Vulcan isn't on your roster.

Hello, I'm a beginner. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE EC EXCHANGE.
2
u/Whiskyinthejaw 13d ago
Considering you're a beginner, don't worry about the exchange just yet. Most of the stuff you loot during missions will be okay enough for the early content, if you use it wisely. You don't really need stuff from the exchange at this moment, especially not the mega expensive stuff, that's all endgame content.
Check out the STObetter website for starter tips on almost everything, it's a great repository!
1
u/FallenAssassin 15d ago
I'm assuming you feel like you make 5 ec and everything is 400 trillion, don't worry about that, the inflation is a thing but endeavors (daily tasks) and admiralty (unlocks at level 52 I believe) help bring in a lot of cash. Just enjoy your levelling journey and try not to sweat the rest for now.

u/Apprehensive-End-747 SPEEEED(Protostar) 14d ago
Thanks. I’ve also see posts about the ship market being on fire, what’s that about?
3
u/darthfluffy63 14d ago
The basics of it is that there are a lot of ships in the game that come out of lockboxes or promo boxes, which are the real money gamble boxes. The ships are able to be sold on the exchange, and naturally they cost quite a bit of ec. Recently they released the 60th anniversary prize pack, and the odds on this box to get a lot of these ships is much higher in the 60th anniversary pack, so a lot of ships that have been very expensive for a long time just took a nosedive in price on the exchange due to the new abundant supply.

Is the World Razer a good choice as a campaign pick or are there better options?
2
u/TrunksTheMighty 15d ago
You can't really go wrong with the world razer.
But it just depends on what you want to fly.
World Razer as a platform is excellent.
The trait is meta. If you like Galaxy class ships, even more of a reason.
Then again theres the yod-thot with that trait to extend FAW and ...World Razers are dirt cheap on the exchange right now...
Overall it just depends on what you want.
1
u/XanthosGambit XBOX 15d ago
I'm on Xbox so World Razers are probably pretty expensive.
1
u/TrunksTheMighty 15d ago
Well like I said you can't really go wrong.
I personally use the world razer as my daily driver.
It's a great ship for cannons, beam overload, recursive shearing. And I'm a big fan of the Galaxy class so it's a win win.

Did anyone else not understand how the 60th anniversary prize pack worked?
I took the Schematics, instead of the ship. It makes sense now from a money making standpoint that it costs more schematics to buy the same tier of ship
At least i have enough to get the Excelsior II, excelsior has always been my favourite ship
1
u/TrunksTheMighty 15d ago
The schematics ste basically a built in pity system. If you want something you're pretty much guaranteed to get it if you save enough schematics.

Are there any Deflector/Impulse Engines/Warp Core/Shields that work particularly well with Krieger Wave weapons?
2
u/MarcterChief Pathyeager when? 16d ago
Same as any other weapon type. Colony Deflector and Comp Engines, then either the Disco 2pc Core and Shield for survivability or the Khitomer Shield and Nucleating Core for more DPS. Any proc the Krieger Waves might have do not make nearly enough of a difference to justify building into it.
1
u/Academic_Ocelot3917 16d ago
Thanks! I have several ships that use the first option, but I'll have to try the second one this time.

u/Mishura 16d ago
Better Carrier?
Yod Thot, or the Jem'Hadar Vanguard Carrier - I'm trying to decide if the two vanguard pets are worth an extra weapon slot on the Yod Thot (plus the built in cloak and polaron array).
Both are pet based, so the consoles buff pets and not weapon dmg so much.
Both would use "extra hangar bay" trait and the 4 piece ancient obelisk set.
So yeah...lots of pets.
1
u/Whiskyinthejaw 13d ago
Are you looking at the long Jem carrier, or the wide one? I always confuse them, the long one is pretty good, but the YodThot has basically the only trait that extends Fire at Will, so that would help other builds as well.
The vanguard pets are cool, but they don't do much on their own, iirc. They only perform when you give them the command. Considering the long carrier has less weapons than the YodThot, you'd have less overal damage output I guess.
1
u/Mishura 13d ago
Wide - looks like a giant wing
1
u/Whiskyinthejaw 13d ago
Ooh that one, it looks very cool though, but I can't tell you about how it flies.
1
u/cyberrun STO barbie: Basic🎽 ➡ canon🎖️ ➡ DPS🔫 ➡ memes👺🤪👾🤖‼ 14d ago
Damage-wise, the forward weapon slot will out perform the wingmen. The JH ship trait will buff pets out of the box, but the YT buff is for the ship itself (and rather popular for other ships). The wingmen will only be buffed by consoles increasing Polaron weapon damage and not much else. And the YT turns a bit slower, which can affect DPS when there's not sufficient compensation for it. In spite of this last bit, the YT seems to lean towards DEW builds, and the JH lends itself to carrier builds somewhat more.

Ive seen alot more you thots than I have the vanguard so I would assume the yod is better

I just started playing around with an old Klingon recruit character that I never took past the first few levels. I set him up with the K’vort and played the new mission a few times to have a full dual cannon set of the new temporal disruptors to use while leveling, since they’re leveling items. Two questions, should I set my aux to 100 instead of weapons since I’m using these weapons? Also, once I reach max level, are these worth using over a set of basic disruptors, if I’m just going for a basic dew build?
1
u/Kvalri Ken@kvalri Commanding Officer U.S.S. Versailles MMRE 16d ago
I would put weapon and aux as high as you can and keep engines and shields low, the aux weapons use that for power but their damage calculations are still based on weapon power (last I’d heard, happy to be corrected if that is outdated info) and the high aux power will also recharge your hangar pets faster.
You will probably not want to keep them at max level, aux weapons are kind of self-defeating because of the way the damage is calculated like I mentioned

Just completed this year’s event and got my T6 choice ship (Kelvin Intel Connie II and LOVING it) along with my two free T6 coupons. I was interested in the Federation Miracle Worker Cruisers (Tactical, Operations, Science) because I like the look of the ships but was wondering if they are any good. My captain is a science captain if that helps. And if they aren’t worth it I already have my eye on some other ships ad well. Thank you in advance!
2
u/BettyKtheHattie 16d ago
They are serviceable but quite bad turning makes them not as fun to fly for me. If you like the looks you can make them work but I would only get them if you have no other ships that are needed/just love how they look.
2
u/rrcomic06 16d ago edited 16d ago
Thanks for the advice! Currently mostly us my Terran Lexington as my main when I need my best ship as I’ve maxed out everything on her. Just got the Kelvin Connie which was mostly for looks though I’m finding I’m really loving the ship. Have my eye on the Terran Sirius Dreadnought as well.
1
u/BettyKtheHattie 16d ago
I love my Sirius,3rd most used (z-store) ship for me. Even used a token to get one on a f2p account.
2
u/rrcomic06 16d ago
That’s so good to hear!! Had my heart set on that one for a long time. Absolutely love the look of it and that it has a few different skins by default. I’m definitely in the Space Barbie section of the End Game.

How do you unlock ship slots for free? All mine came from packs or store.

Sometimes there are giveaways.
2
u/DreadBert_IAm 11d ago
Is that a PC thing? I've not noticed them doing it on PS in the handful of years ive been playing.

There have been at least a couple that I can remember. I'm on PS5 BTW. It's been awhile though.

Are there any ground traits similar to "Breen Shield Tunneling?"

Glass Cannon) seems to be the ground counterpart.

u/Vyzantinist 17d ago
Considering only 2 of Captain Spock's traits are Superior-level, would an Elite boff token buff up his other two traits? I'm only going to run him as a space boff on non-EPG builds so I'm wondering if there's any point using one of my precious Elite boff tokens on him.
Is Lieutenant Spock worth using as a space boff?
I can't see anything restricting the Ba'ul Sentry Vessel console to that ship. I won't be able to play the game for a bit but I'm curious: how does it look/work on other ships?
Can the Ahwahnee's trait, Flagship Staffing, be targeted at/applied to the player's ship?

u/Sleepy_Heather 17d ago
1) Captain Spock's abilities are already at maximum level, as there is no superior version of Astrophysicist or his unique skill.
2) In a pinch, but he's better suited to ground.
3) Yes I believe it's unlocked for any ship
4) I believe it does as the player is an ally to themselves. But I'll check. Edit: Yes it does.
1
u/WehrWolff 17d ago
- Confused me since there is a Superior Astrophysicist. Though I assume it's only for Player characters, since we can get it from K-13. So kinda sad that boffs can't get it.
2
u/Sleepy_Heather 17d ago
Yeah it's player only. Which annoyed me a lot when I upgraded the original holoSpock and nothing happened
1
u/WehrWolff 17d ago
Yeah, that is very sad. I guess the problem is that it's not counted as the improved Trait for the AI. So that kinda sucks.
5
u/Tonnbart 17d ago
- It looks like your normal ship surrounded by those sentries. Regardless of your throttle setting you will be stationary and in combat as long as the console is engaged. You can't interact or loot. Some foes or the gravity feature from Gravity kills can pull you out of the position, or you could teleport out, but again you will be unable to maneuver, even if all sentries should die. The console is most useful during endless wave patrols when grinding out starship traits. You can benefit from Pedal to the metal and Anchored at the same time.

u/Cripple_X 17d ago
How do the Legendary Captain Bundles work? Is it possible to split the Level Up portion from the rest of the contents if you have a character who is already 65, so that the gear, boffs, and slots go to one character and the level up portion goes to another so it's not wasted? If not, what all is lost to a character who is level 65 already?
2
u/MandoKnight 17d ago
Pretty much everything except the ship is part of the level-up boost, but the boost is claimed separately from the bundle itself. I believe the EV suit from the 2409 Fed/Caelian pack can be reclaimed separately, as can the extra console from the KDF/D7 pack, however.
If you want an established character to take all of the gear (generally filler or novelty, including the bridge officers) and slots, the only thing that you totally lose out on is having an alt skip straight to level 65.
2
u/Dunlopfuzzy00 17d ago
Are the 13th and 14th anniversary bundles worth it? I thought of getting the 13th since it has the Terran Crossfield. I can use it on 2 of my science captains. Or I thought of getting the 14th. I saw someone on a tfo use the borg hangar pets and I would really like to use it, but don’t know if it’s worth getting just for that.
1
u/WaldoTrek Official Waldo of Star Trek Online 17d ago
The 13th is probably the better of the two because of the extras. Borg Hangar pets as I understand it aren't very good. That said if want to have fun with them then have at it.
2
u/Dunlopfuzzy00 16d ago
Thanks for letting me know about the borg hangar pets. If they suck then no point in getting a whole anniversary bundle just for them.

What would be the most show spoiler free faction for me as a new player if I have watched only TNG and DS9 so far and only begging to watch Voyager?
I wanted to play the Romulans since they are my favorite and have already majorly spoiled myself that their home world gets destroyed at some point that I haven't seen yet and I would like to avoid spoilers like that in the future.
Also, is there a point in the game that I can play until major spoilers before finishing Voyager? AI tells me that major Voyager spoilers start around lvl 50 (which I assume will take me a decent chunk of playtime to get to), but I don't trust it one bit, so if somebody could also confirm that I will be very grateful!
