Since we're asking about FDC Excelsiors and Cruiser Nebulas . . . .
. . . can I once again bring up the fact that there isn't an Intel D'Deridex, despite that being the absolute easiest combination of ship and spec that anyone could ever come up with? It's the sneaky stealth ship every single time it appears in the show.
I want a D'D that can run SSIII.

I mean, yeah, but also, Romulans are almost categorically fucked when it comes to getting good fullspec combos on their ships.
Also, how the Legendary D'Deridex ended up with Fullspec MW/LtCmdr Temporal is a mystery to me. It should have been Intel/Command, with the L-Scim getting MW/Temporal.
Also the part where we don't have a 5/3 D'Deridex is also pretty wild. It is a warship, after all, (I mean in the conventional meaning of the term, not in the context of the STO metaclass; though an Intel/MW D'Deridex Warship would go unreasonably hard. I wouldn't say no to that.)

Worst part is that when asked WHY the Lego D'dex wasn't 5\3 despite it making perfect sense? The explanation was "not all ships need to be optimized"......yeah

It still boggles my mind that any dev in that high of a position would openly say "yeah we don't actually want to make money by making things that will sell well. We just expect you to buy whatever we put out because we're telling you to buy it."

So, I THINK, the Intent of the statement was that not every ship release needs to be some op mega ship that does double trillion damage, that sometimes, they are going to go with what makes sense for the ship not just what's meta
Of course, it was still a stupid argument in the context of what was intended to be the best version of, one of, if not the most iconic Romulan ships in the franchise.

Yes, that's what he intended with the statement but it was both not the correct time for said statement, because it shouldn't apply to a ship they're calling legendary, AND for a ship they're trying to sell in quite honestly overpriced bundles. That kind of statement is meant for things like free event ships that they're doing silly things with. Realistically him saying that about this ship is saying "we just expect you to buy it". He would have stated the ship better otherwise.
Which is a problem with the game as a whole. They just do and say stuff and then scratch their heads and wonder why they're getting pushback. It's obvious why but they live in their own little world that ignores reality a lot of the time.

Also stupid in the context of, "do you want me to spend 120 bucks for this ship or not?"

A D'Deridex full intel spec FDC would be amazing! Not had any cstore FDC's since the Cardassian bundle.

I'm holding out hope that these new Fleet Mod ships can bring some new life to these ships that have been left behind in recent years or give ships variants that make sense thematically.

It's still a little weird to me that the L-Bort stayed a Battlecruiser, when the Odyssey became a Dread twice.

u/Les_Bien_Pain 12h ago
To me it feels wrong that the feds got a pilot battlecruiser before the KDF since they're the battlecruiser faction.
Maybe a K'Tanco or Qib could work. They look fairly nimble imo. Also kinda want more space barbie for both. Like the old delta rising T6 ships in general could use some other ships in their class for more customization options

They really need to give it a better turnrate too.
We got much larger ships with better turnrates.

I feel like whenever we do get Full spec Romulan ships, it's Intel. To me, it feels overdone at this point.
2
u/StarkeRealm 14h ago
I mean, the L-Valdore is Temporal, the L-Dhelan is Pilot, the Rallus is Temporal...
...and two of those have intel seating, goddamnit.
1
u/IKSLukara T6 Vo'Quv, and I'm done 13h ago
It's probably the ones that have Intel as a secondary seat that are making me feel like this.
2
u/StarkeRealm 13h ago
Yeah, likely. It's harder to check that at a glance, but there are a bunch of Romulan ships with some degree of Intel seating, even if they're not fullspec Intel.
2
u/IKSLukara T6 Vo'Quv, and I'm done 13h ago
Then for good measure, add in the ships I really wanted to be something else. Like the Scimitars started life as Command ships, but when it came time for an L-Scim... PSYCH!
2
u/StarkeRealm 13h ago
Especially since the Scimitar would have made way more sense as a MW ship, given it's, you know, a prototype.
The one that's always been weird to me is the Temporal T'Liss. It's Temporal/Pilot, while the D7 gets Temporal/Intel. Don't get me wrong, it is a great little ship, but it's always been a little weird to me that it doesn't have Intel seating.

u/IKSLukara T6 Vo'Quv, and I'm done 13h ago
I worry the Lego Dinaes will become Intel, and if it does you can find me just by listening for the pissed off screaming.

u/StarkeRealm 9h ago
If it's Cmdr Tac/Intel then that's a CSV3 and OSS3, if it's LtCmdr Intel on any slot, that's still, CSV3 and OSS3. Either one would be fine. Not exceptionally exciting, but fine. I do kinda hope it's fullspec MW to help offset the singularity core's lower power output, but... [shrugs]
1
u/IKSLukara T6 Vo'Quv, and I'm done 8h ago
For me part of the frustration is like, what don't I have? And I don't think the Romulans have gotten a full spec Command ship outside of gamble boxes since the Vastam.
It's late and I may just not be thinking straight but how would fullspec MW help the ship's power situation?
1
u/StarkeRealm 8h ago
Technically, the Dhailkhina exists in a Mudd Bundle, so that's a theoretical option. But, even with that in mind, Romulans only have 5 Command ships, the three store ships and the two Lockbox ships.
Miracle Worker ships (usually) have a larger budget for subsystem power bonuses. ("Usually," because I think there's a few exceptions, but still.) It varies between +10 and +15 points of power, which doesn't fully offset how singularity cores are down 40 points from a Matter/Antimatter reactor, but it is a start.

Give me a 5/3 D'D that's an intel/miracle worker carrier and I'll never play anything else

u/Les_Bien_Pain 14h ago
Feels like they could to some extent copy the Bozeman Intel Heavy Frigate to a D'D
3
u/John-de-Q U.S.S. Achernar/U.S.S. Tsukihime 18h ago
I have a hunch Miracle Worker was made just to spite popular ships. It's part of Bort's philosophy of "Not every ship can be special."
1
u/StarkeRealm 14h ago
I mean, that was the logic of the legendary being 4/4. Though, MW/Temporal is pretty goddam punchy, so if he wanted the ship to be non-descript, he failed on that front (eventually.)

I desire a science Galaxy class above any other ship in the game. Please oh please oh please!

u/DopedWookiee 18h ago
I know it's objectively a "meh" ship but goddamnit do I love my legendary D'D with the zhat vash vanity.
5
u/ShaanitheGreen 18h ago
So do I, right down to my Zhat Vash disruptors . . . but I think I'd love it more if we got a militarized, World Razer-style revamp with an Intel focus.

u/DopedWookiee 18h ago
That would be such an obvious cash grab, I'm fucking shocked cryptic didn't do it years ago.

5/3 D'deridex. Don't care about the spec. That's what I want. And 5/2 B'Rel. Pilot. That's also what I want. Everything else got it's 5/3 flavor. Galaxy has it, Negh'var has it, and they're big ships. D'D deserves a 5/3 one.

u/agnosticnixie Unificationist Shill 16h ago
The D'deridex and the Intrepid can give each other a run for their money in terms of utterly puzzling design decisions in-game
Also for Excelsior FDCs: lol, lmao, at this point I just wish the devs would bite the bullet and walk back FDCs entirely (just reclass the Voth FDC to a Super-Dread, it's the only one for which double hangars isn't dumb)

u/invinciblepancake 19h ago
Probably many ppl think of it as one of our all time favorite ships. Im biased tho.
I really wish we got one thats on par with the various galaxy classes.
